Ive been a patient at Raleigh Neurology since 2016. Dr. Farrell was administering my Botox injections due to Migraines/Tension Headaches. I also have L eye pain from a long time, which is not related to my headaches. Every time I was going to my appointments with him, I was mentioning this eye pain and asking what could cause it. The answer was simply: I dont know or Do you want to try this knew pain medication? He would prescribe a pain medicine, without having an idea what could cause the pain!! He just wanted to get rid of me. Why would he actually THINK and try to help me. After all - he was paid to only administer Botox injections! The last few times I had the feeling he was just annoyed with me and I just stopped going there. Not to mention that I was waiting for over an hour in the exam room. Last month I met with Neurologist at UNC, who was actually LISTENING to what I was saying and she believed me. She ordered the right tests and the diagnosis was clear - Brain Aneurism, close to the optic nerve. I was shocked, angry and disappointed. I could not believe that a neurologist with so much experience, could just ignore my symptoms and not even try to help me or refer me to somebody else, if he is not competent. Cold, arrogant and inpatient. No compassion at all. That is the truth. Please, do your research before you go to Raleigh Neurology!

Almost everything about my experience here has been mind-bogglingly terrible. Non-existent communication, super slow to do anything at all, even had the wrong services set up for when I went in for a sleep study. The NP I saw was helpful but otherwise expect to be calling them everyday to get anything done in a reasonable period of time. Look elsewhere for care would be my advice.

Dr. Scagnelli has been stellar throughout it all, and I absolutely believe that he cares and makes decisions based on what the best outcome for me would be. No complaints. My husband had an appointment with Dr. Bowman today at Raleigh Neurological. I accompanied him.The building and waiting room were clean and pleasant. The staff checking him in were very pleasant and courteous. Although we had arrived early we were not kept waiting long before he was called. The CMA who did the cognitive test and went over his personal info and meds was also very nice and friendly.Within a very short wait Dr. Bowman came in introducing himself. He is indeed a pleasant and friendly gentleman who gave my husband a thorough examination and discussed in detail, taking time, his exam and thoughts before giving recommendations. We enjoyed meeting Dr. Bowman and can only sing his praises and highly recommend him!

Extremely unclear pricing. I asked the billing department if they could give me a rough estimate of how much my two follow up appointment would be, after my very expensive first visit. The person in their billing department told me here was no way of know how much the doctor was going to charge me. As if she could see much much they were over charging their previous and current patients. Awful experience. Don’t let them get a hold of your number or you will be harassed to make an appointment till you relent.

I have been going to Raleigh Neurology/Dr. Glenn for a decade now and it was a great place for me when I did not have any issues and was only being seen twice a year for medication refills. However when I started having blurred double vision and dizzy issues daily they did not have time to deal with me. Nurse Mary waited four days to return my call on one occasion and several days on other occasions. I called and waited on hold to speak to someone daily to put another message in and it took them days to return my call. If you don’t have an answer from the doctor the least you could do is call the patient and let them know you’re working on it but not make them wonder for four days. This is also been done to me previous this issue with my levels they would not follow up in a timely manner with the results - it was not until I called them that I got the results and then when I called the receptionist said it’s in the notes they did not call you and I said no. They could not figure out what was going on with me and it became a process of elimination. They couldn’t get to the bottom of my issue and pushes me off on more testing to come back negative not the issue. Some of the facilities have reached out to them and have gotten no response back in regards to my results. I feel like they’ve gotten too big and don’t have time for their long-term old patients. They definitely made me feel like they did not care about me or my well-being. It’s very disappointing to me. And if you need a quick appointment you can hang that up I got told Dr. Glenn was three months out how was I to deal with this for three months? It was not until I put my foot down and complained that she made an appointment for me. When you get into see her she takes time with you and does not make you feel rushed, but good luck getting in. She’s a great doctor but obviously has to much on her plate and/or her nurse isn’t doing her job. Extremely disappointed in this doctors office.

I would have settled for a reduction in pain, it was so debilitating. Every night was sleepless and sheer agony. After a number of medical solutions failed, my doctor wisely referred me to Raleigh Neurology Associates and its Pain Management Center. I found it highly efficient, staffed with smart and personable people and a very savvy doctor, Paul Carnes, MD, who employed a nerve block at a key juncture in my foot eliminating all the pain save a few insignificant spasms since. While this procedure can involve numerous procedures, mine was over in only two. That’s Medical care at its best. Painless to boot.

In fact, everyone in the waiting room was shocked. Because you were so behind you try to reschedule this poor older couple in their 80s that had driven from Fayeteville that had already waited an hour. So I volunteered to reschedule for them. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, this office is too big. The most recent involves my mother. Through a doctors referral, she was able to see Dr. Yerramsetty. Dr. Yerramsetty was friendly, caring and said he wanted my mother to get a MRI ASAP and then see him again within 12 days. The office was supposed to call that day or the next day to schedule the MRI. They did not call. When we called, the nurse sounded annoyed that we were calling. This went on for over a week. The pain got so bad, my mother went to the ER to rule out tumors or an aneurysm. She was told to see Dr. Yerramsetty within a few days of the appointment. That was a week ago. Im sure Dr. Yerramsetty is a good doctor, but we never got the opportunity to verify that. Ive read other reviews and this seems to be a common experience. There is something wrong when the doctor prescribes and MRI and the office does not follow through. Thank God this was not an aneurysm....my mother would be dead by the time we heard back from Raleigh Neurology.

The nurses asked me what to put on prescription over the phone (shouldnt it be written somewhere on my medical prescription records ?) and still manage to mess things up. Ive been waiting for over a month and had to call over 3 times now to get a refill that I am still waiting for. I am not sure that the team realizes how critical this type of medicine is for their patients and how stressful it is to receive the wrong prescription or to have to reach out each time and re-explain everything about what their doctor told me to get a simple refill.

So overall I wish I could give these folks a better rating but I just cant. Their staff is efficient and I guess you dont need them to be overly friendly but they seem to lack empathy and I stood at the window with one woman working three desks it seemed and their were two others over on the other side doing nothing. The check in process is long and the wait even longer. Now to Virginia Jethro. Could not be more displeased. She was condescending and somewhat uninformed it seemed. I VERY rarely post reviews but she dropped this one to two stars otherwise I would have rated these folks much better. She spoke to my husband asking him questions that she could have very well asked me. She advised that none of the symptoms I was having could POSSIBLY, AT ALL be related to anything neurological. She was treating me as though I was a waste of her time. She talked about me to my husband in a way that made it seem like she couldnt trust my answers. Now I can understand double checking with him to see if I was acting out of the ordinary due to symptoms but she was behaving more like I was making it all up and looking for his agreement.I was having legitimate symptoms that seemed somewhat concerning and she made me feel like I was crazy and not ill at all. I got a second opinion and was able to get some answers thank god but she didn’t even seem interested in letting me go to the next step of seeing AN ACTUAL DOCTOR. I would recommend veterinary care for her instead of people if I wasnt an animal lover.

There really aren’t enough words to explain how awful our experience was. We dealt with Raleigh neurology for over a month. Multiple appointments. Each appointment worse. If you have a pediatric patient depending on their needs they may have to be seen in other departments within Raleigh neurology, these departments are not pediatric friendly. The nurses have no idea how to handle children. There is no understanding of how hard it might be for a child to wait for hours past their appointment times and then expect them to be able to be still or not be scared. Once we finished our endeavors within Raleigh neurology we were then sent back to the pediatric department. You know just being passed around back and forth like we aren’t actually people and the patient isn’t actually a child. Once all results came back and their wasn’t any more they could do for us the doctor showed up 20 min late to the zoom call that she scheduled and then proceeded to rudely tell me to just take the child to a psychiatrist.

I would recommend Raleigh Neurology if someone were to ask me. The staff is professional and effective, though like many have noted they can be rough around the edges, especially the staff handling check-in and check-out. Sometimes appointments can take a long time, with lots of waiting and relatively little evaluation time. I think the facility itself is confusing as well and should implement additional signage. However, the quality of care I have received for my chronic migraines has been exceptional, and Dr. Naslund has helped me dramatically improve my quality of life since coming here. They have an on-site pharmacy (which I dont normally make use of) which has provided me with samples of medicines at no cost while waiting for insurance, which is appreciated. The doctor doesnt schedule monthly check-ups for no reason; after we found a medicine combination that worked well for me, we moved to about quarterly check-ups, which saves me time and money and doesnt impact treatment quality. Furthermore, there is a patient portal that nurses are quick to check (consistently same-or-next-day), and I have had medicine issues resolved through that portal with no fee or need for an additional visit. In a nutshell, dont let the bad reviews discourage you from looking here, as you may very well find a neurologist who can really help you.

I am very surprised at the uncomplimenery reviews. I first visited Raleigh Neurology in the late 1980s, long before their expansion and current office on Sunday Drive. Later on my Mother was referred to Raleigh Neurology. She suffered from a rare neurological disorder. I made the appointment for her. I also secured all her medical records, test results etc and delivered them myself one week before her appointment. I had no problems scheduling her and could have gotten an appointment in four days. I explained that I needed to secure her records so they kindly scheduled her to come in eight days. Her physician was amazing. For seven years we drove two hours each way every two months. She would see the Neurologist every other visit and she saw the PA the other visits. Even when she saw the PA the Physician would always walk in and speak to her before she left. I thought she was getting excellent care but I did take her to several University hospital Neurologists for a second opinion. Duke, UNC, Emery and John Hopkins agreed that she was receiving the best care and treatment available anywhere. We always arrived 20 minutes early and I can not remember ever waiting more than 20 minutes beyond her appointment time and that was rare. I have been a patient here also for the many years and am so thankful to have such a fantastic Neurologist, PA and nurse. Everyone is incredibly sweet, kind and helpful. I communicate via the patient portal and always here back that day or the following morning. They have worked wonders on me and I went from being homebound and bedridden to now living a nice functional life. I am a huge believer that the kindness you send out definitely returns to you. I have always been treated kindly and with respect. I am so sorry to the patients that had a bad experience. Sadly it is their loss.

Of note, I was on the verge of going to a back surgeon and his intervention allowed me to avoid surgery and continue to lead a pain-free life. Dr. Carnes has also taken care of both my husband and mother and been equally successful in helping them. Dr. Naslund to say the least is a textbook thinker. No tests were done no nothing just in the room diagnosed me and said take these pills well it didn’t work. Not to mention the reason I even got there is because insurance is utter hell. I have to go to a hospital which then doesn’t know what’s wrong with me. Then they reference me to a doctor doesn’t know either. Then references me to a specialist on that body part they don’t know. To then reference me to the top dog that should know specifically what’s going on. Again it’s really frustrating over a month of physical suffering and I was given psychological pills. Then I called to change to a different neurologist only for the person on the phone to tell me it’s up to them if they will or will not allow me to change doctors. I am so lost I pay for the insurance that pays them but yet I don’t get to decide who I see. This is utterly insane there’s no other practices so now I have to look about going to a different city 4 Hour Drive away. The definition of insanity is to do the same thing over again and expect a different result. So why would I go back to the same doctor with the same issue to get the same diagnosis. A month ago I experienced a severe incident of nausea, spinning, migraines, vision impairment, and was unable to walk on my own all seemingly with no direct catalyst. I have spent the past month without being able to drive further than a few miles and have only recently been able to return to walking my neighborhood again. I am still having nausea, head aches, pressure in my head, vertigo symptoms, and muscle spasms. The only place that accepted my insurance to look into what is going on with me was Raleigh Neurology Associates who, when you google, shows a 2.8 rating. When Dr. Gabr entered the room she obviously had not read my portal notes or the notes the nurse had just taken and immediately went in the direction of me just being there for migraines. She told me to start where I believed the beginning of this story was- which would be ten years ago.She then cut me off within a couple of minutes and told me to prioritize my symptoms so I skipped to the incident from a month ago.I was cut off again regarding past medications and why/when I stopped them, past habits, and then she even cut my mother off regarding family history of neurological problems all within a few minutes time.I was told she didn’t know I meant by wanting a “full panel of bloodwork” done.I was told without her being familiar with my birth control that I should stop birth control because estrogen can cause migraines- I am on a low, steady, non fluctuating dosage of birth control because of past issues with estrogen. But I let her know I would be willing to speak with my OBGYN about a different birth control but that not being on it was not an option at this time.I was told that maybe I needed more magnesium and should add that vitamin to my daily routine.I was told that I would be put on daily medication for migraines. She also kept circling back to the migraines while disregarding, quite frankly, the symptoms that worry me more such as muscle and face spasms and the issue of not being able to walk or drive properly.SO I interjected to state that “I’m sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I’m not comfortable adding or removing any medications/vitamins/whatever until we have completed testing. I don’t believe that we can definitively say I need or don’t need some of this without bloodwork performed first.”I WAS THEN TOLD that “you are being a jerk. You’re tying to tell me how to do my job like you’re at McDonald’s telling someone how you want your burger. And you don’t want to be on medication makes..”This is where I did cut her off to state that 1) it’s not that I don’t want to be on medication- I don’t want to be on medication without definitive results that can be treated by said medication and 2) we were leaving. This review is long and I’m sure some people think I’m just ranting to rant, but this was the most unprofessional and upsetting medical experience I have had. I will never recommend this place or Dr. Gabr. Not listening to your patient or testing blood levels before making assumptions in medicine and vitamin changes is dangerous. As well as belittling your patients is not only rude, but hinder you doing YOUR job as a service to this community.

If you care about your health, please dont go to Raleigh Neurology. I was referred to the ER by the neurologist I saw here because of the severity of my symptoms. Long story short, I was misdiagnosed. He was obviously not educated in his field and was unprofessional and rude. Very disheartening experience.

Dr Glen was great except its been two weeks and we still havent received any results from tests........... however, when being transferred to the triage nurse, who was clearly not the same race as myself and I truly dont want to make this a racial issue, BUT I was pretty much told that I should not speak and only listen to what she had to say without giving any input.....wth?? After reading all of the bad reviews here I would NOT recommend this place and some of these people should band together and take legal action!!

Too big to really care about most of their patients. If you cannot tolerate their treatment recommendations, they treat you like dirt. I would never recommend them to anyone. Most of the time you see a physician assistant. The last physician assistant I say prescribed the generic drug for Ambien as a sleep aid for me, without any discussion of it being a generic for Ambien and what the possible side effects could be. I got up one morning, got dressed, and was driving myself to work all while I was still asleep. This is one of the big issues with Ambien. Of course I had an accident about 6 miles from my house. Luckily I did not get hurt, but my car was totaled. I did not remember anything from the accident. Nothing! Not even the police. My sister picked me up and I went back to bed for the rest of the day. I saw a neurologist at Duke the next week and he explained that the cause of my sleep driving was Ambien. I am very lucky that I was injured or killed that day.

I wish I could provide a rating for Raleigh Neurology, but we were never able to see anyone. My child was referred by his pediatrician in November 2019. We were told Raleigh Neurology was the only pediatric neurologist he could see. We received an info packet by mail from Raleigh Neurology in January 2020, which we returned almost immediately. By the end of February, we still had not heard back. When I called to follow up, the earliest they could schedule an appointment was the end of May. If you have time to wait 6+ months for an appointment, maybe Raleigh Neurology is great, but if you need care any sooner, youre out of luck.

If I could give a zero to Dr. Desai, I would. I cant really say that I can adequately review her demeanor or patient skills since she doesnt want to see patients, as myself, with difficult diagnosis. In urgent situations, instead of referring a patient on because she isnt capable of assistance, she just cancels appointments and does not uphold a doctors duty of continuing care. If you have a complicated situation, do not use Raleigh Neurology, or especially not Dr. Desai, who has proven to be useless in this particular situation with needed assessments and image review.

It was rough in the beginning because the appointment office made my appointment but the day after their computers crashed. So I decide to call up there the day before my appointment to make sure I still had the appointment and thats when I found out about the computers. So they scheduled me another appointment and they didnt change it again. My first appointment was on 2-25-19. I had to wait longer than I had expected but the office staff explained to me that new patient visits take longer and that I should be going back soon. Once back there the nurses were so helpful and kind. Then the Dr. came in and he was just as nice. He asked me some questions, did a few reflex test, and pushed on ankles, knees, and shoulders. Then we went over the plan of action for me. Every time since that first visit has been great. Everyone is kind, caring, and willing to help in any way that they can. Some times you just had to stick with it, I know I did and I am glad I did. Ive gotten the help I need and then some.

Every time Ive been in, theyve been great for me. Talked with me through various options and possible treatments without just throwing medicine at me. I really appreciate having a discussion about my symptoms, concerns, and treatments instead of the doctor just feeling that they know the whole picture without listening first (past experiences). Dr Gabr and Reham Ghali have been fantastic and responsive, cant recommend them enough. Thank you!

So I. Kinda disappointed with this office, been waiting 3 weeks on a referral to make an appointment that my pain management office put in, I call to check the status and I get hung up on, called back and apparently I had a past due payment from two years ago which was never sent a notification in the mail or on the portal and they refused to make my appointment until I paid 93 dollars. So not only did I have to put my bank account in the minus so I could make the appointment then they hung up on me once again.... I called back went through the whole spill over again to be told I had no referral after speaking my mind I told the lady my whole name instead of my first , mi, and last I spelled out the whole first , middle and last name and she said oh there you are. Was my middle initial throwing her off!!!! Finally have an appointment scheduled but I cant believe they turn patient away because of a bill. Ive been out of work for almost a year due to servre back pain and it is sad that I have to have more added stress because someone couldnt bother to call me to discuss a mere 93 dollars. Doctors have gotten where they dont care about their patient its all about the money. Smh on how unprofessional I got treated today. Sure hope it gets better

I was referred here for headaches. However, I had other symptoms that they failed to acknowledge, including a swollen lymph node. They told me I had NDPH, then tension headaches, and then rebound headaches. My symptoms continued to decline after multiple visits and they tried different anti-seizure drugs on me. Finally I went back to my physician and pressed about the swollen lymph node. They put me on antibiotics and all my symptoms resolved. It turns out I simply had a bad infection in my head, not rebound headaches or any of the other diagnosis made by Raleigh Neurology. But I did spend a lot of money on testing and drugs, along with a lot of pain and suffering for several weeks. Its too bad they would only shrug their shoulders when I kept bringing up the swollen lymph node. Bottom line, you have to be your own advocate. These specialists are stuck in their cookie cutter treatments.

After making an appointment with them, and they said would make an appointment with me after message another physician about my condition. They made me wait a month (would have been more if I had not contacted them about it) because they forgot about my condition and ended up going to the ER. I ended up being about 7 minutes late because I rely on Uber for my transportation, and it was a bad day. I do not have an issue with reception or the medical staff that take my vitals.. My issue is the wait time to see the doctor.... it’s always too long.. But if I’m more than 15 minutes late, I have to reschedule. Then I wait over 30, 40 minutes to see the doctor nothing happens.. Again the issue is the wait time every single time.. The medical staff that took my vitals explained to me she was waiting for the room to come available, once the room became available.. she loved me and told me the doctor had one patient ahead of me. She was very nice.. Again all my visits the wait for the doctor is too long🙄I’m here again at Raleigh Neurology 5/9/2019.. My appointment was at 3:00.... it’s 3:45 and I have not seen the doctor yet.. This place has the worst wait times every time I come....😡😡

Not a good experience unfortunately. Doctor came in the exam room without knocking, minimal eye contact, using medical terms I was not familiar with, no explanation of exam or what was happening. I found myself stopping to clarify frequently. The staff who led me back to the room offered to dim the lights in the exam room which was nice. The staff member scheduling and checking out was focused on training someone and talking about me rather than to me.

I was very hesitant about this place when I read the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Almost every single person I’ve interacted with in this office- which is up to thirteen now- has been lovely and helpful. I saw Dr. Carnes and he was great. The people who did my MRIs and nerve conduction tests were also great. The office staff were almost all great- the only exception being the woman who took literally 45 minutes to schedule me three appointments (Almost an hour I sat there while she clicked around! It should not take that long!) Other than that, I’ve been very pleased and would highly recommend.

I was pretty turned off by the other reviews going in; however, they had a greeter there (perhaps in response). She was EXTREMELY friendly and helpful. They gave an option of using the kiosk, and I went for it! They have it at the airport, and I actually prefer using them. Anyhow, it was pretty easy. After, they had us wait in the room across the hall for a few minutes. A nurse came out, did her thing, we filled out another form for the doctor that he prefers to use. He came in and took his time to explain everything and perform a thorough exam. I was very pleased with his knowledge, manners, and ability to talk straight with me. I did not need anything serious as to testing, but I had a good experience with my visit.

I have never written a review in my life, but I feel like I have to now because this place has gone down hill and I would not recommend it to anyone. I have been going to Raleigh Neurology since I was 16 years old when I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. I was originally seen in the Pediactric part upstairs and it was amazing. My doctor was smart, knew exactly what was wrong, helped me through the process of trying new medication, etc. I am now 22 years old.Last summer my doctor moved to work at Duke Childrens Neurology and I was just handed down to a new doctor in the adult section downstairs and holy he is quite literally the worst doctor I have ever had. Dr. David Konanc, dont use him. I only see him once a year since my Epilepsy is basically controlled at this point, so I never really thought about changing doctors until now. Last year he like convinced himself, and convinced ME, that I had Narcolepsy and I had to go get a bunch of testing done for them to literally say they dont see anyting wrong with my sleep pattern. Even though my excessive sleep was most likely just due to my Epilepsy medication (literally says right on the bottle that it causes drowsiness lol). I have also had trouble with SSRIs and NDRIs (taken for depression and anxiety), but two different medications have made me convulse. Once I had to go to the hospital, and another I spilled boiling water all over my hand while cooking because of my seizure. Caused the worst burns. I told him about these incidents the first time I met him last summer and he told me that medications like this dont cause seizures (which may be true for some people, but not for me). I never went back onto any meds even though he recommended I do, because I am scared of the adverse reactions at this point.Anyway, the final straw was when I had to get this form signed by my University to prove that I do have Epilepsy that effects my everyday life, so that I could get extra help from my professors. He signed it at first but wrote No. on all of the portions that involve my cognition and memory problems. At first I thought he made an honest mistake so I reached out and asked if he could sign it again without writing that because it will cause confusion. He refused to re-sign it, and still does because he believes that cognition problems are not a side effect of Epilepsy. (Which is extremely false, there are numerous articles and journals written on the hidden side effects of epilepsy). He is telling me to get it signed by other doctors, and him and his nurse have been giving me the run around for a month now saying that they cant and wont sign the form. I have tried to reach out to the woman who runs everything, Michelle something? I dont know her last name but I have left two messages this week and no one has reached back out to me. He just truly does not care about his patients, and does not know what to do half the time. He also dismisses and invalidates your illness. It is the worst when you already are dealing with so much, you really deserve a doctor that knows what they are talking about and takes your issues seriously. After all of this, and my six years at Raleigh Neurology I am looking for a new Neurologist.I hated writing this because I hate reading terrible reviews of places for miniscule things, but I truly would never recommend this place. It wasnt just one incident, it has been a year of little things that just pile onto each other. Neurological issues are serious and I would recommend you find a place that actually cares.
