One of the employees “jasmine” was VERY rude tonight. while walking inside we heard her yelling at people before we could unpack to put on our basketball gear. she was even yelling at people that wasn’t rude to her & there was small altercation that happened with a few guys but instead of kicking them out individually, the WHOLE gym was kicked out including the people that JUST checked in. i feel like the situation could have been handled more professionally but she was taking her anger out on others for no reason, especially when you don’t have that authority to do so. BUT off duty employee Tye was very helpful & very nice & handled everything professionally & kept everybody calm.

I live in the apartment next to the YMCA and they have really loud outdoor workout classes every morning and evening. Multiple complaints have been made and they have never turned down the volume. One time I was doing an online interview and the company said that it was unprofessional that I wasnt in a quiet place for the interview and I ended up not getting the job because of it.

This YMCA location is top-notch! The location, amenities, coffee area and small chapel are all superb. The only REAL down side to this specific location are the front desk people whose job is to check-in/check-out members. Instead of focusing on their jobs, they find it fit to judge/gossip about the members among themselves: how a member talks, how he/she dresses, how short/long time the member spends at the gym, etc. This is none of their business as long as the Y’s policies are followed. Perhaps they are engaging in this type of disrespectful and disgraceful behavior because foot traffic is low, due to Covid, so they are looking for ways to pass their time. It could also be they had bad people in the past so they started to stupidly assume that everyone is bad.If I was the Director of this facility, I would keep these folks occupied so they don’t have time to engage in this unprofessional (but highly VISIBLE!) workplace behavior, in a desperate attempt to make paying members uncomfortable.

This is overall a very nice YMCA. It’s pretty clean and modern looking and has good equipment and adequate machines. Small indoor track though. Black rims are pretty good and the steam room and sauna or nice, although they get pretty packed. Towel service and locker locks are a nice service.

I love this place. Its big, spacious, and the workers are friendly. On Saturdays if you plan to run on the track, get there before 9 to avoid the crowd. Despite that, I love running here. The cafe downstairs is my favorite post work out spot. I always get the protein shake with cookie butter and it is the bomb!! You will not be disappointed!

Ive gone to various YMCA locations around Raleigh over the years as Ive moved. This location is the most adjacent to where I currently live. They have plenty of weights, several racks, and tons of machines. My only complaint is that is gets ridiculously hot on the top level during the summer. So much so, Ive needed to leave early. It sucks because its pretty great other than that.

I love the facilities in general. I mainly come here to run and lift weights. After I work out, I can enjoy a nice, hot shower. This is a great place to go! If I plan to go to NC State soon, I like how there is a YMCA right nearby the campus.

One of the nicest in the area. Layout of weight equipment is a little weird and it take some time to find everything. They could rearrange and consolidate to improve that. Also needs more fans or HVAC improvements as certain areas get too warm

I was asked to leave because I wanted to use the bathroom, I was going to put in a membership next week but nevermind, I do not recommend. They said I was “breaking the rules” because I didn’t sign the sheet yesterday when I came in but my name was up there because I signed it before I left.

This location (and many others) violates the “Americans with Disabilities Act” aka ADA aka Handicap. I’ve just moved to downtown Raleigh and took a class at this YMCA last Friday and was EXTREMELY disappointed that the only available ADA parking was taken up by not one but TWO landscaping trucks. The landscapers were very obviously working on the ymca lawns, and therefore must have had permission from the staff. Tisk tisk!! Just think of it your grandma was made to park across the street and walk on her bad knee and tib/fib injuries all so that the lawn looks nice. I’m going to attempt to contact management, but if there’s no resolution, I will be forced to report this to the ADA authorities (it is enforced and fines can be assessed). Please take this manner seriously!!!

I really like this place. I go around three to four times a week. All the staff is very friendly. The facility itself is clean and up-to-date.As time has gone on it seems that the locker room has gotten smaller and smaller. Less keys to less lockers are available. Not because they are being used but I think the key is either missing or the locker itself is broken.

One of the worst run YMCAs in the triangle. Equipment selection is limited. ONE stairclimber and a million treadmills that nobody uses. Meatheads constantly dropping weights. Mens locker room filled with uncouth males who routinely blow snot in the shower stalls; Steamroom smells like sweaty socks due to guys entering it in full PT gear and not following YMCA rules. I ended up quitting the YMCA and joining a professional health club - Lifetime Fitness. Overcrowded especially at the beginning of the day. Doesnt open until 1pm on Sundays.

I have been a member/participant since moving here in 2013 with the Alexander YMCA. The staff and supervision when we first started using the summer camp in 2013 was exemplary. Responsible, young adults that were able to co-operatively manage children in a nurturing way. Evermore its children minding children, and the buck is being passed in such a way that is truly alarming. Ive never had an issue until this past summer. It was overcrowded, understaffed, fundamentally underprepared. Never was a permission slip issued for any of the field trips, children are allowed to do as they wish for unknown amounts of time, and rules are not adhered to, until something goes wrong. Another child was allowed to bring their phone to camp, and numerous children were allegedly looking at improper material, while none of the staff witnessed any such event, witness was taken by children against other children. Instead of taking into account that due to their own underage understaffing, Noone was supervising these children! They instead chose to pass the buck to the parents, (none of whom were present)to avoid possible litigation. Before notifying the custodial parent of one of the children, they called DHS. DHS!!!! For a supposed non profit, that costs over a thousand dollars for a 10 week summer camp, excluding those fortunate enough to receive their paltry scholarships this is reprehensible . Where does the money go? Majority of the supervision is basically an intern like position as young as 13. I wont be returning to the Alexander YMCA. For the money, I can definitely find better childcare, and for the experience, Im sure theres a state funded free daycare that is comparable.
