A good gym facility, clean area, great staff up front from what I have seen every time I’ve gone, and good mix of people there. The staff I have seen is diverse at best. Understand that the wires differ according to their locations. I live in nowhere near the facility I go to but I attend it because it is the type of atmosphere that I would like to work out at. It also has other things that I can use to help a military veteran who are struggling.

I have a bit of a mixed opinion. Overall we’ve really enjoyed the Y. Love the classes and camp kanata especially. The group swim lessons were fairly useless - the instructors changed so often without notice which was disappointing. My kid didn’t love adjusting to someone new every week or two and if definitely hindered profess. Much of the group swim lesson time at the beginning and end seemed to be wasted with instructors chatting it up with each other and just messing around. Hard to get directors to respond about private lessons and frankly what they charge for them versus what they pay the staff actually doing the lessons for that time is insane.

I love this property, but the customer service is Alright! I think some of the ladies that checked me in at one point or another gave me an attitude and had an awful vibe, but aside from that I love working out here, they have everything you’d want minus great customer service…. Sometimes

People at front desk are friendly but not always well informed. Facility good.I am concerned that there are few or none Black people on staff. The Black people who are employed there seem to be engaged only in cleaning. Im a White woman, and I am offended by the lack of diversity at the front desk and among the trainers. Yes, Black people use the gym but are not visible in positions of responsibility. Discouraging, Id say.

The staff up front is terrible. I most likely will never return and escalate the situation. They seemed to discriminate against black individuals there to participate in open run basketball. Everyone else was allowed to enter except for this specific demographic. The reason they gave was because of COVID. Even though the entire group was wearing masks and were willing to have our temperatures checked. They still said no guests were allowed (by guests I assume black guests). Meanwhile there was an entire gym of people playing basketball...still confused on why we were refused access while everyone else was allowed in.

I enrolled my 2 year old in the parent/child swim class and the water is absolutely fridgid to the point that her lips are blue. Then, I attempted to take a warm shower to warm us up and the showers dont have warm water either. Very unfortunate because the facility itself appears clean and well maintained.

Rudest staff ever! Probably the least friendly staff of any Y Ive been to. No matter what day you go in the reception staff seems to be having a bad one. They need to be retrained.

The Swim training program is frustratingly managed. It seems their focus is on pushing a competitive swim program, and not on teaching swim. The higher ups are non-responsive at best, unhelpful and cold at worst.Weve tried to have all 3 kids in the program, and they were inflexible (only 1 has been able to consistently be learning there). The latest move to scatter the kids to different YMCAs is yet another frustrating move.I understand that Gov Coopers mercurial, inexplicably random, and harsh rules have made it very difficult to stay in business, let alone serve customers, but this has been an issue with this Y for some time now. Also, the water slide has been down for a significant part of the summer, the stand and walkway to get to it was poorly maintained, and not being allowed to bring extended family as guests for the entire summer has been very frustrating. On the other hand, when the facility opens again, the indoor facility and camps are excellent, and the rest of the outdoor pool is fun and well-maintained.

The best YMCA I’ve been to! I really enjoyed myself here for the first time, it’s a HUGE campus but wasn’t over crowded at all! The staff (everyone) was extremely professional and polite when I had a few questions. My daughter and nephew enjoyed themselves in the outdoor pool including a water slide, while I had a great workout in the building across the street, then they met me over in the indoor pool, afterwards, I enjoyed the Sauna room, then had hot tasty coffee on the way out! Plenty of space, showers, blow dryers, towels etc in the locker room, VERY CLEAN AND KEPT UP! I’m a member of the Hope Valley Farms Y in Durham and these people here COULD REALLY TEACH THEM SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. However I do love my Y too ❤️

I like the YMCA. Its clean, theres a vase selection of equipment, they offer a pretty good choice of classes, and the staff is friendly (except for one lead lady with dark poofy hair -- she power trips). However, theres a big reason for the two stars. My wife and I go mainly for the indoor pool. We found quiet times to attend, and were very happy. If this continued, I would have given this YMCA a 5-star rating. However, they now scheduled 6 thousand screaming kids ALL DAY at the indoor pool, with no break. So we cant attend the YMCA all summer long, even though were paying. The outdoor pool is worse with its kid mass-invasion. Due to a previous skin cancer scare, we cannot attend the outdoor pool.NEWSFLASH: Some people dont have kids! Some people dont like to be around screaming kids! The world doesnt center around kids! Some people actually like to talk while in the pool, which is impossible with those screaming kids.I dont think its unreasonable to ask for one hour in the day to have an adult swim at the indoor pool. To dis one half of the members is wrong. Again, not everyone has kids, and not everyone wants to put up with the noise.

Love this Y! The facilities have recently been updated and are super nice! All of the instructors are extremely helpful and explain the movements in the classes to make sure you are getting the maximum potential from your workout. Everyone is always very welcoming and friendly. I was previously a member of Lifetime and feel like I am getting the same value (minus some splash pads at the pool) for way less.

I started going here roughly a year ago and I really like this gym. This Y has child care for up to 2 hours however it is not for all day. This isnt a complaint, it is just info. My son seems to have a good time in the playroom, which is stocked with lots of toys. As of January 2019 new weight lifting and cardio machines were installed.

Me and my wife love the place! With a coed whirlpool, and hours starting at 5 am, we enjoy swimming plus many other indoor and outdoor activities.Just today with the threat of snow we both enjoyed a dip in the spa with 105-degree water jets and then took an hour swim in the indoor Olympic-sized pool with 83-degree water. I never noticed that it was 20 degrees outside until we left and just to top it off there is an outdoor Olympic-sized pool open from May to September.

Could not be more pleased with the Finley Y - childrens programs, the gym, everything! We joined the Y in 2005 for the before and after school program for our child starting kindergarten. We have now had 2 children do before school, after school, and summer camps from age 5 to age 13+ and it has been fantastic (13 years now)! My older child works at the Y part time and has loved it. Our younger child was in a bad accident and was in a wheelchair for several months; the Y went above and beyond to help him, driving a wheelchair lift van to his school just for him! And through their fitness programs Ive lost more than 50 pounds and am in the best shape of my life! The staff is always nice and helpful, the facility clean, and the childcare is second to none!

Really like this YMCA. Feel like a family here, child care area is very caring and genuinely engaged, they make an effort to know our family. The indoor pool is usually pretty crowded for YOTA and other activities, hard to use it for workouts most times. Gym is usually pretty busy, I try to go in off hours to avoid the crowds. All around a nice facility with good staff. Been using the Y for about 9 years.

A E Finley is very family focused providing a wide variety of care and programs for kids starting at a very young age. Their yoga teaches are top notch. The triathlon club is very supportive and a lot of fun. Pickup volley ball on Tuesday and Thursday evenings is a great game. The swimming pool is in excellent shape and well run. Swimming lessons for my girls have been enjoyable for all of us. Yes, there is some potential for overcrowding in the weight room, but if you are willing to use last years equipment (literally, they buy lots of new equipment annually) then its very easy to get on the machines. You might have to go out of your preferred order, but its doable without too much trouble. Ive thoroughly enjoyed the fitness and community that the YMCA has provided for both myself and my family.

A really great Y thats been recently upgraded. It is a very popular place on the weekends with a lot going on which is good but means it can be tough to find parking in the mornings. As is typical of most YMCAs it doesnt open until 11am on Sundays which can be a pain but its only one day a week.

The front desk is friendly. But it seems to me this is where parents drop their pre-teen and teenage kids off for a couple hours, where they are left unsupervised in the basketball gym. Not very enjoyable if you are just looking to shoot some hoops. Theyve taken over the basketball gym....and this is during the open gym period, that is supposed to be for everybody.
