When I first heard about the Strong Mom Strength Series, I knew it was something I wanted to try. I was about 5 months postpartum and felt like a stranger in my own body. After 8 sessions with Katie, Im starting to feel like myself again. My core and legs are noticeably stronger, I have less neck and shoulder pain and stiffness, and I feel motivated to continue building my strength and mobility. I highly, highly recommend this program!

The Strong Mom Strength Series is exactly what I didnt know I needed, and in so many ways. As a first-time mom about 3.5 months postpartum, I didnt know where to start with getting back in the saddle with exercise. All I knew is that I didnt feel comfortable going right back to what I was used to doing in terms of exercise before growing and birthing a tiny human. Katie has put together an amazing program that has made me feel stronger and more comfortable in my body; moreover, I have loved interacting with the other moms. Getting stronger in such a supportive environment has helped me beyond words. I cant recommend this program enough!

The culture and environment at KG Strong are very warm and welcoming, and I have felt this way from my very first e-mail sent to Katie asking about the classes and prices, to each day I walk into the gym. Specifically, I had e-mailed Katie at least a month or two before I showed up for my first assessment and she remembered me. That personal touch and attention to each client is very important to me.I started coming to KG Strong after I had healed from a broken ankle. My stability was not good, my hips were sore, and my leg muscles were very tight from wearing a boot on my right leg for two months. I started to attend personal training classes with Anna Claire two times a week, and I am happy to say it has greatly impacted my life. From pushing me to go harder when I didn’t think I could to correcting my form, my stability is almost better than it was before my broken ankle. Additionally, Anna Claire really helps me to understand my body better and how to stretch out when I am sore or tight, which has benefitted me outside of the gym.Being at the gym twice a week, I get to see the other trainers in action during other personal training sessions or during classes, and they don’t just show up to class and instruct a group. Instead, they truly coach individuals. They know each client’s strengths and weaknesses, and they help us to improve while also watching out for our safety.I eventually found that I am not training to be skinnier, and due to that realization, I feel empowered. I feel strong, and my goals are now to be fit and healthy, to be stronger and faster than I was the day before, and to just keep moving forward. Finally, I can say with confidence that I would not feel that way without the KG Strong team.

Katie is a responsible, thoughtful and energetic trainer. She is technical and takes into consideration whatever issues one may have that affect the body, and plans the workout and modifications accordingly. In 3 months she has increased my muscle tone, strength and overall fitness health. I highly recommend her!

As a lifelong runner (and one whom suffers from back injuries), I have never felt comfortable in any weight training group. I jumped around from class to class but struggled to find a place that I felt was there to help me with my own goals (become a strong better runner) and didn’t just push me into picking up the heaviest thing I could at any cost. I have been with the KG strong group for six months now and I cannot believe I am saying that I look forward to my kettle bell classes! After the first few classes with trainer Anna Claire, I felt completely at ease and knew she was there to help me accomplish my goals. Anna Claire spent time in each class ensuring I had proper form and appropriate weights for my skill level (which I will admit was embarrassingly low when I first started). Not only did she raise my confidence with patience and time she raised my skill level as well. To this day, I surprise myself with what I am able to accomplish without ever feeling pressured. I’m very thankful I found this amazing group (I’ve worked with all the trainers at this point whom are all wonderful) and thankful that I found a trainer that instilled confidence in me in an area I thought was just “never going to be my thing.” Thanks for proving me wrong KG STRONG!

Katie Gould is an amazing instructor and trainer. She walks the talk, and is an inspirational role model for fitness, strength, and general healthy eating and living. I have been working with Katie, both in her classes at ZAKTi and one-on-one, for over a year and can say with certainty she is one of the best trainers Ive ever worked with. I am working hard, getting stronger and fitter, and with Katies guidance, doing it all with proper and healthy form. I couldnt recommend her more strongly.

Katie is an awesome yoga teacher! She brings her knowledge of alignment and an intuitive sense of what people need to her work, so her classes are tailored to each of her students. She pushes me to ask more of myself and has helped me to get to know how my body moves and what adjustments to make in order to really feel strong, flexible, and aligned.

All the trainers are amazing. Caring people, really putting their heart into their work. The space is great, sunny and spacious. Equipment is spot on, everything you need no matter your level. I’ve been going for nearly two years, new clients come in and pick things up quickly, some folks are at real mastery level, could get StrongFirst certified themselves. Trainers work out here, beginners work out here, all are welcome and pushed to do better.I’ve been coming for nearly two years, having worked out with Katie in 1:1 sessions and moving into small groups. I live in Fairmount, so I don’t get here as much as I’d like, but I still feel like I learn new things, I’m challenged, but not pushed to injury, in fact I go there to recover from injuring myself while doing other stuff. Strength, mobility, muscle release, it’s all addressed as a whole person at KG.The level of expertise is so high here, and each trainer brings their own magic to it. Julie’s amazing with pushing confidence to go heavier and the right way with good muscle movement. Cherie is mighty, with great mobility fused into her programs. Anna Claire is the queen of accountability, so great and encouraging, keeping the workouts serious and the gym vibe fun. Elaine is new, but she’s got some cool moves for mobility and strength. Katie and Noah bring such a high level of expertise to top it all off. There’s new folks, Colleen teaching core, Erick with yoga. Katie really recruits the cream of the crop.

I always look forward to Katies class and am sad when I have to miss it. After a year of regularly practicing Yoga with Katie, I have found it pretty easy to jump into even advanced level classes at studios across the city with joy, energy, and control. She has a way of offerings verbal cues youd never think of to relax into poses .Not only has my practice has grown strong with Katie, but so too has my passion for digging deeper into the growing community of Yogis in Philly.

Definitely the best gym in South Philly! Classes are small group and personalized. KG Strongs personal trainers are all certified in either strength, yoga, or kettlebells.

To do the body good, one goes to Katie Gould.I have the immense pleasure of working with Katie in her yoga class and, previously, under private fitness instruction. As an instructor, she finds a line between abstract or metaphorical thinking (particularly for yoga) and hard physiological fact, which leaves the student with better flow and a keener understanding of alignment and core function. In particular, I appreciate her on-the-fly anatomy lessons during yoga because I think in more black-and-white terms and can more effectively expand my kinesthetic awareness. Her yoga practice energizes my day and puts me in a more receptive and responsive space for the rest of my day. My body definitely complains when I miss a class because the ease of alignment is missing.Katie has an eye for body structure that is impressive. In few moments she can identify how a particular body moves differently--whether from innate structural development or from injury--and offers multiple variations to an exercise or movement to suit that individual. I have never felt in smarter hands than I have in Katies. As a trainer, she will not let you off the hook but is never unkind. She is a motivator who can take you to the next level of fitness and you will be able to take her lessons with you for years to come.Katie is a woman who makes her life about moving through the world mindfully, and it is due to this fact that she is useful to any person, no matter what the athletic background or kinesthetic discipline (or lack thereof!).

I weight trained for 10 years up into my mid twenties, before starting my Yoga career. It has definitely helped me appreciate the struggles of breaking through plateau`s (which may last a couple years), to attain one`s strength goals. With that background, Yoga can be challenging. There is no clear path. There are no clear fitness goals to be got. That is where having the guidance of teacher, you trust with your body, is so key.Katie`s Yoga classes has moved my practice along greatly, opened up my body, and has reconnected with me, the importance of maintaining a strength training regimen. To keep one`s body in optimal shape.

At 53 years old, formerly buff amateur body builder with considerable injuries caused from years of working out (with trainers) resulting in chronic pain; ACL replacements in both knees and a rotator cuff injury, I was apprehensive about joining a class at a serious gym with kettlebells, barbell classes, etc. I am writing this review to say, I am a CONVERT! I joined a class with Anna Claire Loper and was separated from the class since I was a beginner and I had mentioned the injuries and my concerns. She was able to give me customized exercises to do while still being part of the class.Anna Claire or AC as I heard her called, watched me carefully and made corrections to my form which were immediately noticeable. I kept checking to see if I felt any pain and when I did not, I started to relax and have a good time. I felt challenged and exhilarated knowing that I can really work out again.

Friends have been raving about KG Strong for years, so Katie and her company have been on my radar for some time. The Strong Mom Series was an excellent way to begin to feel more like myself after the birth of my baby. Im a dancer who hasnt danced in quite some time, and I needed some accountability for starting to incorporate exercise back into my life. It felt so great to connect with my body in this new way, and to connect with other new parents who are doing the same. The semi-private structure allowed for a lot of attentive instruction. Highly recommend!
