I have been a patient of dr. Susan Lee forseveral years. She and everyone there has always been professional, compassionate and patient with me. I couldnt ask for a better atmosphere to be in while Im not feeling well because it always makes me feel a little better! God bless them all!❤

This place is the problem with Health Care today. Its fee for Service model shows how much they really care about their patients. I would highly suggest you find a Value based heath care provider in area that provides a much better service.

Wanted to badly to love this place. The block and building are beautiful, but the experience itself was totally impersonal and rushed. Was really hoping this would be a family doctor with whom I could build a relationship and see for many years to come, but I was put off enough by my first experience that Ill be looking elsewhere. Total shame, because years ago I heard very positive things about this PCP.

Bad experience. After requesting to be put back on meds after no health insurance for 2 years, a ‘Nurse Practitioner’ was unable to do so and instead prescribed a drug which gave me a toxic reaction. After which I was referred to a specialist in which this practice never forwarded the referral to my insurance company and I had to remind them to do so. Now this office has realized that my insurance cannot bill a ‘Nurse Practitioner’ so a doctor there has been assigned to me who has been paid by both myself and insurance since last year, yet is now “Not accepting new patients,” so now I have no doctor. Quite an exceptional experience.

Having been a Patient at Mount Airy Family Practice for over three years and I am very Happy. NP Marrissa Patterson is my Primary Care Person. She is considerate, professional and open to dialogue about my Care. I find her very good. The Front Desk People are pleasant and thorough/coupled with the Nursing Staff it is good to feel comfortable at the Medical Office.

The receptionists are unprofessional, when you talk to them they always seem angry. If you put in a request be sure to call them back to check the status because they have no intentions of contacting their clients unless it will make them money. I have never had a bad experience with the nurses or doctors, but I truly feel uncomfortable when speaking with the individuals at the front desk. They come off very condescending, if you don’t believe me just look at their responses to some of the negative reviews that they receive. Instead of using the negative reviews as constructive criticism, they become offended. Pay attention to the negative reviews as much as you praise the positive reviews and I’m sure the quality of the office and the reviews will improve.

I went here often as a child and eventually saw other doctors after I moved away. I came back to Mt. Airy FP a couple years back because I saw that my childhood doctor, Dr. Lewis, still works there. I have been completely satisfied and put at ease through the services they provided, and I plan to return for years to come.

I have never had a bad experience at this practice. I get seen quickly when Im sick and the doctors, nurses and physicians assistant are all very nice. Now that I know how to use the PORTAL, it is easy to get referrals the same day. My primary, Dr. Clarke, hasnt been wrong once about what ails me. I look forward to many more years with this group of excellent medical professionals.

Today was my very first appoint and I am 100% satisfied. I saw Paula who is a beautiful person inside and out! Her personality is friendly and inviting. I felt like she has always been my doctor. I also love their efficiency. My appointment began at 2:30 and I was walking out the door by 3:09. I love it and I’m happy I switched.

This is the worst physician office I have experienced in my lifetime. Once I made an appointment for a blood test, when I got there I was told that the lab was under construction. Of course they didnt call to let me know that. Another time I scheduled an appointment, when I arrived I was told that they had no record of my appointment. I complained and then they kicked me out. Both the physicians and staff are incompetent.

Visits were ok, basic. But I recently just happened to check my chart in the patient portal when I went in to request a refill and saw that for my last two annual visits my BP was very high and on the rise. Also my cholesterol was high (blood work results). No one said a word to me. Not one. Im a walking statistic--Black woman with hypertension and high cholesterol and dont know it. Both are silent killers. Thats pure negligence on the part of the medical staff here not to tell me. No mentions during appt nor follow ups. There was also incorrect info in my chart regarding family medical history (totally off). I will not be returning.

I scheduled an appointment and was notified by voicemail the day before that the fee for cancelling was $25. Based on this, I made an informed decision to not show up to my appointment for personal reasons. When I called the next business day to reschedule - I was informed that the fee was suddenly $50 because I was a new patient. This was never relayed to me prior and this is very bad business practice. Not to mention the person on the phone was rude. Definitely lost me as a potential long term customer.

When I first started coming to Mt. Airy Family practice, I saw Nurse Practitioner Paula Dockery who was truly wonderful. However, she left the practice, and I had to switch to a new primary care provider. On the morning that I was scheduled to come in to see Dr. Kummer, circumstances beyond my control caused me to run late. I called 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment time, and explained to a receptionist that I was detained at Chestnut Hill Hospital, and that I would be 10-15 minutes late. I asked him whether I should still come in for my appointment (as opposed to rescheduling), and he told me that I should still come. I arrived exactly when I said I would, and a female receptionist informed me that, because Im late, Dr. Kummer marked me as a no-show. I explained what happened, and told her that the male receptionist on the phone told me that I would be seen. She paged the doctor, and said your 11:30 just got here. She didnt convey any other information. She then told me that the doctor refused to see me because her next patient already arrived, and I would have to reschedule. I told her that I didnt mind waiting until the doctor had a spare moment (I took off of work to schedule this appointment, and I have very limited time off), but the staff person said she was not going to page the doctor again. Mt. Airy Family Practice showed me that it lacks integrity and compassion, and frankly, I deserve better from a PCP.Update: I just received a bill in the mail for a $25.00 missed appointment fee. This practice is despicable.

The entire staff is miserable. The only doctor Ive ever had a pleasant conversation with there left the practice. The nurse practitioner who prescribed a medication switch for me couldnt even be bothered to suggest tapering down off of my current meds, I specifically had to ask if I should do it and he agreed, as if it had slipped his mind. The hours are at least convenient but I wouldnt recommend them for a single other thing. Also to those saying Paula is great, she recently left the practice as well. Also, in response to Mt. Airys reply to me below: the conversation we had was a lot less amicable than theyre making it sound. We discussed some side effects I was having from tapering, not the fact that he forgot in the first place. Then they tried to talk to me about my review (that effects us, you know), and I said I couldnt talk any longer because I was at work, but that Id consider talking later. Then they went ahead and left this response. Clearly theyre more interested in preserving their brand than they are with taking to heart to the numerous negative reviews that have been left for them.

I used to love Dr Lewis as a kid but my has the office changed! I switched my children and myself back once I was working and had new insurance I mean I was dying to go back to this office! My children had an Aetna plan through CHIP I scheduled an appointment for my children just to get to the office, and find out they dont accept Aetna. I called Aetna up to switch to IBC which takes about 30 days to be completed. I called to reschedule my daughters appt due to the insurance being inactive at this time and was told the fee for cancelling is $50 because I didnt give enough notice. Once her appt day came it was snowing so I asked to reschedule her appt just be told they will no longer see her due to multiple cancellations and there was a $25 fee for this cancellations! By the way I was just in there office 3 days prior with my son but since they will only schedule one new patient per day they couldnt be seen at the same time so I took 2days of of work! This office has changed for the worse my son wasnt even seen by Dr Lewis at his appt which is who I requested! My kids will be going back to Mt airy pediatrics where theyre more personable and understanding! By the many bad reviews left I see its not just me.

My experience with this Doctors office was very frustrating and unprofessional. I made an appointment with Vincent Tyson. He talked down to me and was very rude. He did not introduce himself to me and was aggrevated that I hadnt completed the paper work. I was in the room for less than five minutes before he entered. I felt very rushed by everyone in the office which showed me that they are a money driven business which is over booked and providing minimal time for patient interaction. My appointment was 1:30p I got there and was rushed through paper work. The woman who took me back for weight and height was rushing she left me when transitioning between rooms, I could tell she had more patients to check for weight and height and I didnt feel like I mattered. I believe that I pay good money and work hard for benefits I shouldnt have to feel so stressed to go to a doctors appointment when one of the main ways to heal from medical problems is reducing stress. The idea of a doctors office being such a big stress trigger was unfortunate and disappointing. You got a really fast paced rushed vibe which is not comforting in a doctors office. Nurse Practioner Vincent Tyson spoke to me like I was a child. He said that he only had a couple of more minutes to meet with me and that because I wasnt finished the paper work he couldnt help me. I was in his office for all of three minutes. He then took me to the waiting room for blood work and that was it. He made about 5 rude comments about how I should have filled out the paper work, however there wasnt enough time to do so even if i had voice command. I shared with the staff how I didnt think this was a fit for me because the physician was very rude. They seemed to understand what I was saying which to me says Im not the only person that this provider is rude to. I am grateful for their attempt however, because the office seems over booked I didnt get a thorough explanation of their ridiculous new patient rescheduling policy and the first appointment wasnt a preventative care appointment so I had a co-pay when I got no medical interaction what so ever. I never received a confirmation call. I think this office is only about making as much money as possible and not concerned about the medical needs of patients and I dont think this is a healthy way to run a medical practice. I would encourage more balance in patient to physician interaction. Ultimately the pressure from the provider Vincent Tyson puts a lot of pressure on the office manager to keep up with the tight schedule. The policy that they are forced to uphold is unreasonable. The first appointment should be preventative and more of a thorough physical. This should be explained in the call when the appointment is made. The doctor is just trying to get peoples money with this bogus policy that hes just doing an intake and drawing blood. A physical examination isnt taken that way everyone has to pay him whether they stay at the practice or not he still gets more money by not having a physical examination. Please note he is a CRNP maybe this is why he doesnt have much people skills. Maybe there is a lack of experience. Nonetheless my lesson has been learned and I hope the US medical system will soon become a place that is not driven by money and people who are experts learn to care more about helping peoples medical needs as opposed to making money off of them.

Fiancee is *extremely* high risk with spotting, MS and diabetes. She is having toileting issues and was ten minutes late-turned away by these people. Unconscionable cash grab with a revolving door that is profit and not patient driven. She cried in their office for 45 minutes and then left.
