Tina in here lady’s has the best hair braiding shop in west Philly. She a expert in all different braiding styles including, locs, individuals( any size) Cornrowns, knotless braids, feedin braids and of course natural hair.

Last minute fix, this shop came through 🙌🏾.

My family and I been going to tinas hair braiding at 5129 walnut st for more than 20 years and never been disappointed, nice fast braiders,years of experience,nice environment, clean bathroom, we enjoy to go there.My next appointment is next week.

Although my hair is coming out nice the service is horrible the owner is doing my hair and she stopped to go get food left me here hair half done for a half hour then came back to eat I been in this shop since 240 and its now 7 pm and no hair braiding

Took 10 hours to braid my hair in medium braids!

Appointment was at 9am. The girl that was supposed to do my hair called me at 9:50am stating that she would arrive at 11am. Ok. 11:45 is here and Im still waiting. At noon, one of the other braiders said to call Tina, the owner. I did, no answer. Mind you, I paid for a sitter for my children. If you value your time and money, DONT BOTHER

Best braiders ever. Never has a braid slipped or fallen from my head. Reasonably priced and easy to get in. Only complaint is I wish they had more hair color variety and a bathroom.

Ive been going there for years and I always get the same thing, micros. Last time was about a month ago. It was pretty empty so the had 3 people working on me at times which I dont mind because they got me out of there in record time. The only reason I keep going back is because they are fast and I have never had an issue with their work. But yes they can be rude and at times you think they are talking bad about you in their language. But the last straw was the huge argument they had for about 30 minutes. Yelling and screaming at each other, yelling in my ear. Im done!! Ive put up with your children running over my feet and your loudness. But Im done. You are not the only game in town Tinas!!

Im really funny about my hair but this place is 100% on top of it. My experience yesterday was that there were five people getting their hair done including me each of the five of us got something very different done with our hair: different colors different styles but each one of us left with our hair looking absolutely beautiful and perfect for each of us I cant explain it but those women are talented I recommend them 100% they know what theyre doing

This used to be my go to and refer to spot for all things in braids.Not anymore!!The last time I went here the building was so poorly maintained I couldnt even use the restroom in the working building I had to go into the one falling down.They didnt have any hair with color just 1 and 1B but the prices continue to rise while the quality continues to dwindle but the staff is quite friendly they always have been.

I have been coming here for the last 6 years. Never a long wait, good customer service. Even if you walk in and its crowded, they always call someone to come service you. No need to have a specific person EVERYONE in this shop can braid....I am a loyal customer who refuses to go anywhere else.

They braid hair nice my hair came out nicely done . However they are rude, I ask about the price for my hair and she was rude and spoke in another language I said can you speak English cause I know you speaking about me one girl say they talking about the prices and they don’t make the price I think they need a attitude makeover well the one girl need a attitude make over. I think it’s rude to speak another language in front of a customer if they asking questions .

I should have known... I entered on July 25th seeking out 7 braids on my sides and back of my head. I had pictures that I showed to the last person that did my hair and produced exactly what I asked for the time before. The woman in the front doing someones hair said something in another language that I didn’t understand. A minor argument ensued, and one woman huffed and puffed and told me to sit down. She began by putting what I believe to be a mousse of some sort on the back of my head. Then she took some type of brush and began to “detangle” my hair. I write the word detangle loosely because what happened next can only be described as an assault on my follicles. I actually heard ripping and saw balls of hair fall off of her brush which I know wasnt normal shedding because I had detangled and washed my hair the night before. She then started to add hair (I told her thats not what I wanted) she then started to braid past where I told her to (I stopped her again). During the entirety of this process she ranted about me to the other woman ( I know because she kept stopping braiding and talking quickly about the number of braids I had asked for, 7). I should have spoke up and said that the braids were also way too tight and the point of a protective style is to protect your hair, not harm it. Through much of her ranting the job was “complete”. I stood up and looked in the dirty mirror to see she had not braided my sides. With visible frustration I asked “how much?” She offered to braid the sides but I just wanted to leave so I said no, paid and left. IF YOU VALUE YOUR HAIR and the health of it dont come here. Traction based alopecia is real. Trust your gut. If I had known what she was going to do I would have waited and let my hair girl do it. I should have spoken up when she began, but let my mangled scalp serve as a warning to all that might seek their services. Also the braids are not even at all upon closer inspection. I never write reviews but damn, just damn.

Terrible!!! Just terrible!!! She Was talking on the phone while working joking and laughing I told her I had to be somewhere and she totally ignored me the style was nice and jutted for the most part but the service was terrible i wouldn’t let my dog go there if she could

Best shop in town. Have been around for over 25 years. They never reuse the hair. They dont wash the hair in the shop because they dont have the proper equipment. They have the best braiders in town. Keep up the good work guys.

The worst salon ever dont go she doesnt know what she is doing and will not say a word. She put all this gel in my hair it was crazy then attempted to wash it and my hair still had soap in it and no conditioner then when blow dried it was still wet then she had me sit and wait over a hour for someone else and they never came !!!! It was the worst experienced me life and the REUSE they hair they are not to be trusted !!!!!
