This place is EVERYTHING that is wrong with the VA health care system! The staff are so incredibly rude they truly don’t want to help! The place is dirty and a horrible location. Everything about the services here is beyond incompetent. Honestly never want to come back here again. Also, the staff men clearly have not been trained on sexual harassment. They made me feel so uncomfortable with their comments and the way they looked at me.

This hospital needs a better pharmacy refill system. My husband has PTSD and anxiety very severely from being blown up in Afghanistan. Every couple months before his prescription needs filled he goes online and submits for a refill but the pills never come. He ends up rationing or going a couple of without his pills until his mental health gets so bad that he has to drive down to Oakland to pick up 10 pills to hold him over. He has to go in person and ask them to finally ship him his prescription that literally keeps him from killing himself. Something needs to be done about this, it’s literally every time he needs a refill. This affects our whole family more than I really care to mention here. Please ensure our veterans are getting the help and specifically medications they also desperately need.

Ive gotten good care here, but a lot of the staff are wildly unprofessional. Some of the doctors are pretty bad and painfully dont really care about the job or their patients. This isnt all of them, but when you run into one, its pretty apparent. If all you want are drugs, theyre only too happy to push as many pills as you want. The senior staff here are pretty standard government employees who are aware that your complains will fall on deaf ears and that they cant be fired. All in all, while its better than your average free clinic, Id recommend another VA hospital if you have that option. You deserve better as a Vet.

I have found the service at this facility to be very good. Other than long waits between scheduling an appointment and it’s actual date, I have no complaints

Staff are generally very helpful and supportive but the funding is not sufficient for the number of patients. We (and they) deserve better!

The Doctors (who are paid $50,000.00 less per year then they can make at Kaiser/and other places) and the underpaid nurses and other staff are the most giving and dedicated professionals I have seen in my 79 years on this planet.E-1 to O-6 Navy (Pilot in Nam 67, 68 and 69) in 26 years 1960-1986.How and why they continue to work so hard in Politicallyunderstaffed departmets is a wonderful benefit for all of us Vets who get the benefit of their training and dedication. When I am in pain I TEND TO BE P O and GROUCHY TOO, especially when my doctor is so busy (caring for another VET IN NEED) and I have to wait.... It bothers me until I see that hurting Vet walk out with a smile on his face.I know and understand how some of us in pain and forgetting that lines are a fact of life and delayed attention is always an irritation and we may LOUDLY VENT our frustrations. But when I/we see the other Vets who are raggedy looking and worse then I/we are, getting the help they need to alleviate their pain, I AGAIN THANK GOD FOR OUR VA DOCTORs and NURSES/STAFF.Point is are you glad the Oakland Va out Patient clinic is there and can WE somehow support and applaud all that they do for we Vets by telling our Reps and other elected officials TO FULLY FUND THEIR NEEDS!!!!HEALTH BROTHERS AND SISTERSHARRY
