My glasses broke and I was stuck using an old wrecked set and they managed to squeeze me in their schedule.Until now, Ive never had an optometrist perfect the rx for my stigmatism. My glasses & contacts are amazing.

First got a comprehensive exam from the Dr. to update my prescription (after suffering from some eye strain from the old one), then ordered three pair of glasses from Larry, which are all perfect and were delivered ahead of schedule. (Important as I was leaving town for a month.) Thanks so much!

Weve been going to Dr. Ringenbach for many years. Very considerate and good doctor and does well with our kid. The opticians have been great as well and turn around on lenses and frames are pretty quick. Flexible hours (including Saturdays and later afternoon) which have worked well for us.

Awful experience. I hardly ever write reviews, but my experience here warranted a review so hopefully others dont have to deal with this place. Dr. was overall pleasant and the exam was fine for contacts. However, the front staff was rude and condescending. I have never experienced this type of customer service anywhere. I ordered contacts through them, and essentially without going into too much detail, they tried to go through a private contact supplier, instead of using my insurance. They then tried charging me as well as collecting from my insurance. After talking with my insurance, and multiple calls to Vision Associates, it was finally dealt with. This was after they tried to tell me I was only allowed one box of contacts, (my insurance told them I was supposed to receive two). My insurance, in the end, threatened to pull them because of their horrible service and refusal to properly use the insurance. My insurance company made many calls to them on my behalf and even made comments about how difficult the staff was. After my two boxes of contacts were finally ordered through my insurance they refused to call once they were in. I called my insurance again and they told me they had received them over a week ago. After many rude phone calls, I finally was able to pick the contacts up. What a horrible business.

I have visited here to get frames and lenses done and have gone a few times with other people getting eye exams and frames. I havent really had any issues other than the front desk staff giving the impression that they will get around to helping you on their own time. The person who helps pick out the frames is nice.

My experience with Vision Associates of Northampton has been by far the most unpleasant one I have had as far as health care is concerned. They mishandled a number of different things about my vision care there. They made a number of different mistakes with my billing, but the worse had actually to do with my eye exam.2 weeks after wearing my clear glasses, I was experiencing headaches and irritated eyes daily. Then I came back to the office only to be told they had made a mistake with the type of lenses they picked for me. We put in another order for the correct type, but I was charged again and more for the difference in cost. After reaching out to them by email requesting a discount, as a gesture to compensate for their error, Alan Ringenbach personally emailed me to say there was no error with your lenses. You received what you ordered. That was not only untrue as it was rude. I contacted my previous optician and they faxed Alans office the prescription of my previous lenses, confirming the type I was wearing before which Alans team failed to notice. They were unable to take any responsibility for what they did and caused. They did not offered one single gesture of redress.Do yourself a favor and never ever look for Vision Associates of Northampton for your vision care. There are many other options in the Valley for you.

The staff are excellent at Vision Associates. They have always provided great service and advice on buying and repairing glasses. They never charge for quick repairs or warranted repairs. Their eye doctor was thorough and very capable too. Very happy with them.

I never write reviews for anyone but this place was so bad I just had to. I really dont know how they can still be in business with such horrible customer service. I was living out of state for a brief period of time and was in need of contacts, so I made an appointment with them. Wrote the date and time down so I wouldnt forget. Come two weeks later, I show up and I wasnt in the system at all. So I make an appointment for that Saturday. Get a call an hour later, they are overbooked and rescheduled me for the following Monday. I dont even think they ran anything through my insurance company, because I paid full price for everything. I called my insurance company and they said no one had ever contacted them and I asked the receptionist and she kind of blew me off. Today, I went to the eye place Ive been going to since I was in elementary school and they called vision associates to have them fax over my prescription and the man that was helping me also exclaimed how rude they are and made him feel like what he was asking for was such a hassle. With all these horrible reviews about the receptionist, youd think they would hire some one more friendly and with actual people skills.

Beyond horrible customer service from the optrician (female, blonde short hair, mid-50s). Wont ever go this place again. Avoid if you want to be treated human.Re. Owners Response:Rest assured, I, nor my family or friends, will be future customers or patients after the rudeness you portrayed over something so simple. Good service is essential no matter a persons status. The way in which a business treats their community members bears heavily on a businesss reputation.I was absolutely not there under sketchy circumstances. I politely introduced myself, explained my request, and graciously asked for permission to take two photos of the eyeglasses in the public space (which would have been easy for anyone to photograph without permission at all). A simple No, thank you, or a request for more information would have been sufficient. I gave absolutely no reason to be hostile. This is no way to treat people (customers or not), and you know it.

Woman on staff grumpily told me that my plastic frames cannot be adjusted, while the sale person specifically had mentioned the possibility if adjustment. She was not helpful at all and seemed pissed off that I asked for adjustments. As someone whos been using glasses for thirty years I didnt care for her lecturing about how she cant do a perfect doable job. I will not be back

Awful. Had an eye exam and ordered glasses. Waited over 2 weeks, then had to call them to see if my glasses were in. They said no. Called me back 10 min later, told me they just came in. Got there, the lenses were wrong, had to send out to remake. Another wait. Called them, and they said the lenses were in. Why cant they call me? Went there, tried them on, and they say, Oh we made a mistake, you owe us another $130. Sorry, no I dont. Keep your glasses and give me a refund. At first they refused, so I made a stink while other customers sitting in the reception area. Woman says I tried to help you by reordering the lenses. What? Dont do the minimum your job requires and then tell me your doing me a favor. The customer service bar is set VERY low here. I got my refund, but not before demanding to see the doctor. I got better glasses and service at Costco.

I share others negative experiences with office staff. I had decided to change until I read that VA had new staff. I called for a repair and the receptionist said Vision Associates, how my I help you? At first, I thought I had the wrong number because in the past the call would be answered by VizzAsts. Nor was the previous receptionist courteous or helpful. I got the repair and was very impressed by the experience. Ive always liked the doc, so the good news is I wont have to take my business elsewhere.

The doctor was just fine so its unfortunate that his office staff is going to drive away customers. The billing is inaccurate and then trying to explain it is absurd - you cant get the biller on the phone but shell pass on inaccurate information. And to add: The biller just called and confirmed she cant provide anything from insurance because she never actually billed them for the item in question. Eileen is rude and inaccurate. She is going to cost the doctor a lot of customers.

I lost a screw from the nose piece of my glasses. I had purchased the glasses thru Vision Associates. Looked on-line for Office hours for Thursday April 9, 2015. It showed that the office closes at 5PM. Drove 45 minutes, to the office. Arrived in front of office door at 4:46PM. The lights were out, door was locked. Sign posted stated that the office was opened until 5PM. Just another example of how rude their customer service is.

These people are dickfaces. No, seriously. I am a young white person, a college student, and on the day that I went in to get my glasses they took one look at my casual clothes and assumed that I was lying about my health insurance. Someone who looked like me (tired and stressed out?) could not possibly have a good insurance plan. While I was looking at the glasses, one of the women kept coming back to check on me and make sure that I wasnt destroying the eyeglass displays or jumbling up the order of things. I dont know how they havent put themselves out of business.

I have been using this business at least 10 years maybe even longer. My last exam was in 2013. After looking at their frame selections I asked Jane to see if the same frames I currently had were still available. I never asked her to order them I simply wanted to know. The next call I received was to tell me my glasses had arrive. I left them a message saying I never asked them to be ordered. Afterwards, since my prescription did not change much , I decided to keep the same glasses and never ordered new ones.18 months later: I just called to make an appointment, today, to pick out new glasses and was told because of the last time I could no longer come in.Jane could have easily called me to let me know the frames were available and to ask me : do I want them to process my order? Obviously, she misunderstood me. But I did nothing wrong. What a terrible way to treat a customer.I really was not very invested in Alan Ringenbach. He was adequate but nothing special. And yes, the receptionist is so rude! But it was Jane, the optician, who kept me coming back. She is excellent and he is lucky to have her.I will miss her ability to pick out the best frames for me.

I went to Vision Associates without reading the online reviews. Big mistake. The doctor is fine, but the customer service is awful. When I asked them when my glasses will be ready, they said, I dont know. When I asked them if my insurance would cover a contacts prescription, they said, I dont know. Now I have to follow up with my insurance for answers. If you have more important things to do than getting the run around from rude receptionists, go elsewhere.

The staff at Vision Associates are horrible. They are rude and obnoxious and not helpful. They barely paid attention to me at the counter, demanded that I pay for my glasses even through insurance was paying for them and tried to sell me things I didnt need. After I personally paid for my glasses, the insurance company paid Vision Associates also for the glasses. Vision Associates never notified me or offered to give me my money back. I had to have the insurance company call Vision Associates two months later to get my funds. They are dishonest and difficult to deal with. Go anywhere else.

The staff at Vision Associates are the most horrible staff that I have ever encountered. I asked the receptionist to mail my prescription and I asked her when I should be expecting it, she said I dont know and hung up. When I asked her to fax it to me she said she could hopefully fax it on the same day. And of course, she was rude and blunt the whole time I was talking to her. When I went there for an eye exam, the doctors werent great either. I would never go back again.
