Newport Orthopedic Institute is the worst. first, they took my MRI and they forgot to schedule the appointment, I called after 10 days and spent additional 2 days getting a hold on anyone, then I finally got my surgery scheduled, now the doctor isnt available every 2 weeks for checkups as they promised, I got my initial post-surgery 15 days AFTER my surgery, you are supposed to have this within 5 days, and the post checkups was supposed to be every 2 weeks, they scheduled them for every 3-4 weeks, and even with that calling me saying the doctor isnt going to be in, in 2 months, they have canceled or pushed back my appointment 6 times because the doctor wasnt available this place is so unprofessional, I wish I had done better research.

I received excellent care and treatment from Dr. Gazzaniga and all those in his office and his surgical support team. I had a complex tear in my medial meniscus which was successfully cleaned up.Dr. Gazzaniga knows what hes doing. He is very straight-forward and efficient. He answers all your question, is direct and no-nonsense. He provides the patient with the necessary information to make their own informed decision.Be aware that Dr. Gazzaniga is a man of few words. Hes 100% focused on the purpose at hand: the injury you came in to see him about. He is not trying to be your friend. At first, I was a little put off by his direct, no-nonsense manner. Initially, he comes off as a little distant. Upon reflection, considering my experience from first encounter to being wheeled out of the operating room, I realized how appropriate his style can be. There are no distractions from dealing with your injury. No conversations about your favorite local restaurants or your recent vacation. You and he are together for one purpose and Dr. Gazzaniga does not let himself, or you, wander from that purpose. If you want a chatty doctor, one who will engage you on a personal level and ask about your family, you might not care for Dr. Gazzaniga. If you value a doctor who excels at what he does and does it thoroughly and efficiently, you will be very happy with the quality of care and treatment you receive from Dr. Gazzaniga.

Very thoughtful and thorough in his explanation and analysis of my knee problems. Pre and post surgery communication has been very informative and helpful. My recovery has been monitored weeks after the surgery and I have walking from day two after.I was hesitant to go for surgery but after the explanation to what has happen to my knee and what it would be like after surgery has been spot on. In two week since the surgery Im fully walking. Physical therapy is quickly helping me get my range of motion back with no pain.Keep positive and recovery goes much faster.

X Marks the Spot Dr. Gazzaniga! This doctor used a special instrument pulled from his front pocket, put a mark on both of my knees, and gave me enough relief to enjoy my vacation... and still going strong! Though I know my arthritis isnt cured, these past few weeks have been the best Ive had in years and its hard not to think Dr. G somehow performed a miracle. Thank you for that and Im really sad you cant be the doctor that replaces these worn out parts of mine when the day comes. Great doctor, great service, and Dr. Gazzaniga answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed or he had better things to do. All the best!

First let me say that if anyone says that Dr. Gs bedside manner isnt very good then you are an over needy attention seeking baby and most likely has issues with other peoples bedside manner at home and everywhere else that may be in life. I had a torn pectoralis major tendon tear which had happen almost over two years ago. my pectoral ripped from my humorous and was balled up in the middle of my chest. I had a 50% chance of success and I was willing to risk it based on the good feeling I got from Dr G. Surgery was a success and the scar healed very well and my mobility after three or four weeks goes great. Dr. G is a true true professional and master of surgery. I highly recommend anyone that has any orthopedic need surgery to use Dr. G. And by the way his bedside manner was absolutely amazing he didnt bother me at all when I was coming out of anesthesia. and my surgery was a full success and that is what is important. You want bedside manner rely on the nurses not to Dr. Who is too you busy fixing you. Also Dr. G called me personally to check up with me and that is probably because he is a good person too.

Just had an ACL repair with autologous hamstring about 2 weeks ago. From start to finish, Dr. G and his staff have been great! Surgery went without a hitch and I always felt I was in good hands with him and his staff. As an ICU RN for 28 years, I can tell you the pre-op and post-op instructions are phenomenal (they check in with you DAILY via internet and call immediately if you have any concerns). Highly recommend Dr. Gazzaniga and his team!

Dr. Gazzaniga is an excellent surgeon. I highly recommend him if you need to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery, and I have heard from many others that he is an expert in should surgeries as well. Personally, I he performed an ACL reconstruction on my left knee, and nearly 3 weeks, out I feel great and have an excellent range of motion already. He and his team are friendly, good-natured people that make you feel comfortable and reassured before, during, and after your procedure. They are all very knowledge and answered the many questions I had about the preparation, surgery, and recovery processes. Dr. Gazzaniga himself is very personable and communicative. His previous experience working on elite-level athletes from various backgrounds (football, lacrosse, skiing, etc.) reassured me that hed do an excellent job on my ACL. One last thing: my referring doctor and physical therapist both spoke very highly of Dr. Gazzanigas abilities. Knowing that other health professional trust him is yet another exceptional quality of Dr. Gazzaniga.

I was referred to Dr. Gazzaniga through an orthopedic surgeon whom my chiropractor referred me to. I first saw Dr. Gazzaniga last year in June, after two surgeries I had, which left my knee more damaged by the previous doctor. My initial injury was in 2007 after playing 13 years of soccer. When I saw Dr. Gazzaniga, he laid everything out on thr table for me, gave me his expertise opinion and let me choose what I wanted to do based on what he told me. I received my first surgery from him in October 2017 and my second surgery from him in May of 2018. I wont get into detail about what my surgeries entailed, but they were both very extensive surgeries (the first surgery was about 6 hours and left me in a wheelchair for two months as I healed, and the second surgery was a few hours as well and let me in a wheelchair for one month after). I never felt nervous while in his care and I continue to see him for a post-operative care. He has been a blessing from God, I cannot be happier with the doctor that was put in my path. Dr. Gazzaniga fixed the mistake of the doctor I saw before him. He saved my leg and I will forever be grateful.

Dr. Gazzaniga was the third orthopedic surgeon that I went to and once I met him and his staff, they stood out immediately from my previous doctors. This is why I chose him to do my surgery. It has been two weeks since my surgery (ACL/Hamstring/Meniscus) and I am very pleased with the whole process. Starting from my initial visit, Dr. Gazzaniga explained thoroughly and precisely what was going on with my knee and what needed to be done to get me back in action. From there, I scheduled a surgery date, and all of his office staff were friendly and helpful and put me at ease while preparing for the future date.I am still healing but the surgery went well. Also, any questions I had during my recovery were answered promptly and thoroughly.I am especially impressed with the daily Health Loop correspondence, checking on my status, and making sure Im comfortable and everything is OK during the healing process. My physical therapy phase is next and I look forward to following his Specific instructions for my recovery and therapy.I have other injuries that need to be addressed in the future and I have no problem putting my trust and faith in Dr. Gazzaniga to do the surgery if it calls for it.I would definitely recommend Dr. Gazzaniga and his team to anyone looking for a good Orthopedic Doctor who is professional, courteous, and good at what he does with a staff to match.Sincerely,Troy Hoff

When I found out that I had a torn ACL, I did not want to go through surgery again. I had already torn my ACL on my other knee 7 years ago. Yet, I enjoy living an active life style that requires a working ACL. As soon as I had my first meeting with Dr. Gazzaniga, he answered every question in regards to getting up and going as quick as possible... I am on my 14th day after surgery. I am able to walk already! I am looking forward to a quick recovery!! His team is always ready to answer questions or concerns. Dr. Gazzaniga is easy to talk to and open to addressing any concern you have. I put off going into surgery because I was nervous... yet, now having this experience with Dr. Gazzaniga and his team... I am so thankful I moved forward and I am ready to continue my active life style!! Thank you Dr. Gazzaniga

I ruptured my Achilles tendon, and Dr Gazzaniga and his staff were able to get me into surgery within that same week. Dr Gazzanigas bedside manner was great: calm, to the point, and very knowledgable. When he went in to surgically repair my tendon, it was in worse shape than expected. He went beyond the basic repair: he took part of another tendon in my leg and actually wove that into my damaged muscle/tendon to lay down more cartilage to help me heal better. I am now 4 months out and doing very well. This was a really crappy injury to have, but I have had a wonderful surgeon fix it! I couldnt be happier with my decision to go with Dr Gazzaniga for my repair.
