Major communication problems. Never had the opportunity to meet my recipient coordinator (she was out of town for every single visit I had in the months before transplant). Still have yet to meet my post transplant coordinator. Missing lab test and medical records...Experiencing severe problems post transplant, and it is difficult to get anyone to follow up. Basically, anyone would be crazy to go to Mt Sinai for a kidney transplant...I wish I had gone with NYU, Weill Cornell, or Columbia.Oh, another fun tidbit, when I was in the hospital I was given a pain medication I was allergic too even after telling the PA in charge of prescribing that I was allergic...My wonderful father was my kidney donor...he was discharged from the hospital without his prescribed medications and has also experienced horrible communication difficulties and lackluster post op care. The only person I can recommend without hesitation is Dr. Benvenisty, an excellent surgeon who seems to truly care about his patients. Everyone else at this transplant center is a mix of incompetent, disorganized, or just plain MIA. Expect to talk to a different coordinator at each appointment and for them to magically be on vacation for the rest of your treatment time.
