Great place!! I highly recommend this place for laser hair removal. I’m already satisfied with my result after two sessions by owner Rachel. I heard that laser is painful before and I was very nervous at first time but she is very professional and quick. I was super happy with the experience. Salon is cute, clean and cozy. Stuff are very friendly, welcoming. They sell their own products and body goods, etc in waiting area. Again I really like this place!

The location is great and easily accessible from the West Fourth Subway station. The store is always spotless. Theres also great products to buy to help maintain your skin after your wax. Ive been going to Josie for a few months now and shes the best! Im in and out in about 15 minutes and Im always so happy with the results. And the waxing packages are such a great investment to save some money along the way.

The “Do me Dirty “coffee scrub is by far the best product I have ever used . It gently exfoliates but the best thing is how your skin feels and looks afterwards. I’m in my 50’s and it makes my skin look at least 10yrs younger . I’m health conscience and I embrace all of the natural ingredients that is in the scrub. Best scrub ever !!

Very professional and lovely place. Reasonable prices for waxing services in the city. Plus, who doesnt love the name? Ive seen Josie a couple of times and highly recommend her. Not only does she do a great job, but she also gives helpful post-wax tips. Great if youre looking to support a local business rather than one of the various chain options available in New York. As it was my first time getting a Brazilian wax I was of course nervous, but Rachael was able to put me to ease immediately. She checks in, was very quick and efficient! I visited this establishment for the first time on Thursday, and was serviced by Josie. To say she was good is an understatement. I went in thinking it would be a painful experience, and although it was painful, Josie talked me through it and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. She also made sure to tell me proper after care, as well as what to do before my next visit. In the end, I was hairless and very satisfied with my waxing. I will definitely be going back to have Josie take care of me in four weeks!

Great salon! Went for my first time last week I booked for eyebrow and lip wax. Can’t lie I was a little nervous since it was my first time. Plus it’s been a while!! Everyone knows having someone do your brows for the first time is nerve racking. Anyway, I was waxed by Theresa and she did an amazing job! I went to Proper Puss in Ithaca when I was in school up there and when I heard Rachael was opening up a location in NYC I was ecstatic. Rachael is professional yet friendly and makes you feel so comfortable. It was a freezing NYC night and she offered me tea and hot chocolate when I arrived, which was so sweet. The wax itself was as painless as a Brazilian wax could be - very efficient (none of that same area twice stuff), took everything off, and the wax used was top notch. The salon is spotless and beautifully decorated so you feel like youre treating yourself! Great place, great service, so glad Proper Puss is in the city now!

I went to PP for the first time this weekend as its centrally located to my apt. Rachel was extremely professional and had me in and out of there in no time. The space was clean and bright and I really liked the wax she used as well, not to mention it was a thorough job. I would certainly go back if not just for the convenience, for the pleasant experience. There are not too many salon options in the west village, so its very exciting to have found something so reliable and enjoyable. Will absolutely go back again!

I started going to Proper Puss for laser about two years ago, after winning an underarm 3-pack in a raffle at an event. I was so pleased with the results and the service that Ive since been back to treat two additional areas, and just booked another! Rachael is very professional but good at chatting with you to distract you from the zaps (which really arent that bad!). And Coconut the salon bunny is too cute for words!

I love the boutique feel here. The customer service is incredible and I love their cold fruit infused water. Rachael made me giggle through the whole process as it was my first time getting waxed. They use hard and soft wax and it is gentle on the skin. I particularly have sensitive skin and I survived my first wax with smooth skin. Just booked another appointment and I wouldnt want to go anywhere else.

Although this wasnt my actual first time with laser hair removal, it might as well have been. Ive only ever done two times previously (once in Japan, so bad Id rather not speak of it, the other at a pain free clinic, more on that later). Both were so bad in their own ways, I only went for one session. If you know anything about laser hair removal, youd know that means no results.Fast forward to 3 months ago, Proper Puss is everything the last places I went to werent (in the best way). Rachel is a star, and it is clear she cares not only about your full experience, but also about your results. This is the most results focused place Ive ever been (and when you are spending this much, not much else matters).I am three sessions in, and Ill be honest, its not pain free, but Im actually okay with that. My experience at the pain-free salon was abysmal, not only that, the technician outright admitted that they dont get good results despite using the newest technology. Dont look for pain-free, look for the best results. Who cares if its pain free if you are wasting you time.All that said, the pain is completely bearable, and slightly less painful than waxing (and totally worth it for the longterm results!).My first three sessions have been great, Rachel is friendly and thorough. I will update this review with more details and my final results after my sixth session.

2 stars because it’s a Great salon. & I’ve been here once before and it was great. However I had to go before a trip last minute. I was seen by Josie. I’ve never experienced such pain from a Brazilian wax. I wanted to jump off the table, it was so painful. Very aggressive. It felt very rushed which was the opposite of my last experience. Not only was I left with hair but also my skin was sore for days. I also had some bruising. When I asked about it. She told me to take a cold shower? Which I thought was weird. I put neosporin for days which helped a bit. Not to mention all the while of this process I’m being told how bad my skin is and what I need to buy as well as when I have to come back & leave a review on yelp and google. That just seems very pushy to me and elementary as a service provider. Disappointed, because I had a pleasant experience last time.

This is a beautiful place located on a gorgeous block in west village. Theresa is an artist and a master of her craft. Not to mention a perfectionist. I will definitely be back!

First timer! I walked in the door and was greeted with a smile. I was offstandish to the idea of waxing my lower back and butt hair but they did everything they could to make me feel comfortable. It was quick and youre damn right it hurt...hurt so good. I even needed a hug afterward. Later that night my boyfriend came in from work and it was late. I was already in bed.
