It was my first time seeing this doctor and via telemedicine . I don’t see many Cornell doctors in general but Dr. Abramowitz seemed knowledgeable and I thought she asked me the right questions and I’m pretty satisfied with her suggested course of action. She vas very late to the telemedicine appointment but I was glad someone from the office called me directly to let me know that she was running late and also called me 5 minutes before she was actually ready to see me.

Had a video consult with Meira Abramowitz, M.D. (my first) to discuss a nasty case of c-diff I contracted as a result of antibiotics I was prescribed following oral surgery. I had read some disturbing things about c-diff on the internet and was eager to discuss it with Dr. Abramowitz. In the course of just twenty minutes she told me more about my condition than any doctor has ever told me about anything. She was extremely knowledgeable but explained everything to me in terms I could understand. I am extremely grateful.

I’ve undergone two procedures with Dr. Ambramowitz in two years and could not be happier to have her as my GI doctor. She is thorough and cares about her patients’ overall health and wellness beyond her specific field, ensuring that I receive all necessary care outside of my GI concerns. Thank you, Meira !🙏

I think Dr. Meira Abramowitz was great. She was very serious( I guess thats the knowledge of her job) but she was also professional. She answered any concerns I had. Overall, I would definitely be recommending her to anyone I know. Thank you Dr. Abramowitz for being so special!

This was a difficult visit. Though I praise Dr. Abramowitz for her knowledge and expertise, I cant help but state that she severely lacks bedside manners. Maybe I caught her on a bad day, but no patient should be made to feel so uncomfortable that they cant continue to list what issues/concerns bring them to see the doctor to begin with. After having to reschedule my appointment twice to accommodate Dr. Abramowitz I was finally going to have my matters addressed. Dr. Abramowitz never introduced herself when she walked into the room. In-fact, she (without making any eye contact with me and looking at the chart in hand) asked me what my name was. Then got upset when I asked her for her name. She then began to ask me all of the same questions that I had already answered on the patient questionnaire. When I asked if she had received my intake form, she looked at me like my face was going to melt off. She then explained that patients tend to be more honest and descriptive about their issues when asked in person. I then went on to tell her that I was very nervous about my visit and why I was there. At no point did she comfort me or remind me that I was in a safe place. For the record, I had mentioned that I was nervous several times and got no response. After mentioning that I wake up with stomach pains and medicate (in the same way that my sister, who has major stomach issues) she looked even more visibly upset. I chose to stop disclosing my issues to her as I no longer felt that I could trust her. I havent felt this way since I was told by another doctor that I was not getting any younger to have children and then prescribe me weight loss medication to help get me there faster. At the end of the session she tells me that there is nothing wrong and that we can meet again if the problem persists in 6 weeks by video conference. To add insult to injury, I read the post visit summary which she mentions that I am doing illicit drugs (this is absolutely false) and that she can not rule out Crohns disease. This is absolutely terrifying to read! This was a terrible experience that I feel like got overcharged for. Dr. Abramowitz may be a wonderful doctor to some. She is not the right doctor for me to feel safe and cared for.

Beware of hidden costs!I tried to obtain clarity on the costs of my procedure before the scheduled day. Not only did I have to call several times and leave messages but I received incomplete information. End result: my insurance was billed over $12,000 for a 30 min procedure, of which I had to still foot $3,000. But to add insult to injury, although Dr. Abramowitz had told me at the end of the procedure that I was fine, her office scheduled a post op call with her a week later to tell me again that all was fine. The call lasted a grand total of 10 minutes and I was charged $180 (after insurance) to basically hear information that I already knew. My efforts to have this charge canceled have fallen on deaf ears.

I felt confident and reassured after my visit with her. They called my name to be brought back right as I was walking away from the check in desk, so no waiting in the main area. During the visit she didnt rush me, allowed me to speak and answered my questions. These issues are sensitive ones to talk about. I plan to follow up and would recommend her to a friend.I think, with GI issues, a lot of the doctors become desensitized. Explaining GI issues to someone that isnt experiencing it, makes you seem crazy and histrionic.

On March 17, 2021 - The Dr. barely touched me as if disgusted by me. (I know there is a plandemic, oh sorry pandemic, but cmon). Then I was not able to schedule an appointment for a colonoscopy until after she returns from her vacation for the month of April, mind you I went in because of rectal bleeding and if there is anything wrong it may be just a bit too late for me to find out. Is there ANOTHER Dr. in the house?

After spending months doing the workup with these doctors to find answers Dr. Abramowitz eventually just gave up, and stopped listening. I genuinely appreciated the work they did at the time, but she did not follow through.I had to leave the state, as I needed family support and assistance because of the medical issues, and I was supposed to discuss the results with Dr. Abramowitz prior. I called clear messages in regard to the issue of traveling back, considering I had to have surgery before I was off of my insurance, and could not longer financially make the trip, they insisted I had to, for a conversation that could have been had on the phone. This was a trip I had to get help for to fly out for this conversation I waited months to discover what was wrong just for her to say there was nothing wrong because she wasnt willing to dig deep enough.I know have better care and treatment elsewhere to treat these issues and will not be going back to her office. She will Put forth the effort, and then immediately become cold and passive when you try to bring up possible answers. However, the staff has always been helpful and kind, on the phone and in person. I would also recommend Weill Cornell and NY Presbyterian to anyone in need of great medical care.Their department of endocrinology, pelvic specialists as well as other people in their speciality are far better, and worth the time.

I always end up waiting for extended periods of time, the last time it took 1 hour before I saw the doc, before that 1,5 hrs. I never get the follow-up calls I’m supposed to receive. I have gotten a wrong prescription before that could have been harmful but the doctor called me in time to tell me I shouldn’t take it. I’ve also have to wait for weeks/months for a back and forth between dr Abramowitz and another doctor of mine that was also within the Weill Cornell network. He told me his office had an exceptional hard time reaching hers. I don’t think she is bad at practicing medicine but these activities are in my opinion crucial to have a good overall experience. This is why I would not recommend this doctor to friends and family.

The facility, staff and nurses were wonderful and helpful. However, this doctor was inattentive, rude and completely ignored me as a patient. She took no interest and didn’t listen to my issues. Very impatient. She didn’t see me or call after the procedure and weeks later I am still waiting for results and report.

Dr. Abramowitz is great. She takes time with you to address all your concerns and is interested in getting to the bottom of what is causing your issues. She is serious and academic in presentation, and I found it refreshing as her medical curiosity and knowledge are top notch. She wasnt dismissive and listened carefully to me. I had both a colonoscopy and endoscopy with her and she was calm and professional and the staff at Weill Cornell was great. She was thorough in her examinations and I feel like I am in excellent hands.

This doctor and the office all together are terrible. Everyone is so rude - even when simply calling to make an appointment. It takes so long for anything to get done. While you are in pain. They only make it worse. Dr. Abromawitz did not agree with me not going on Humara - she walked out of my appointment furious without saying a simple goodbye. She spoke to me like I am stupid. Finally I wasn’t getting any better and decided to start Humara but it took her over a month to fill out the paperwork needed. Something that my new doctor did in one day. I’m not the type to leave reviews, but this doctor has caused me a lot of stress and I hope I can help someone who really needs quick medical help from waisting their time with her.
