I came in twice (on two separate occasions) for a haircut and highlights. And had to come in another 2 times in order to get the services fixed because they were done poorly. Haircut, for the price, was mediocre. I have very heavy hair and he did not take enough weight off my hair. I have had to make an appointment at another salon to fix this. And they broke my hair when they did highlights and left it yellow. Also, the whole point was to retouch my roots and failed to do so. Also, when you come in within the 7 day policy to get something fixed it is suppose to be complimentary, however the hairstylist Junior finds a way to still charge you again. I paid 500$ and my roots werent even retouched. I contacted the manager and she said a refund has been made to my account. It has been over a week and I never received a refund. Avoid this institution at all costs! They just want to steal your money.

I was not at all pleased at all with my experience here. I booked Junior for a haircut and did face framing highlights. The haircut was very poorly done, it was not cut in a tasteful manner. It look like it was just chopped off, no technique nothing. I have very heavy hair and he barely took any weight off even after I specified to do so. I also got face framing highlights. He ended up breaking my hair because again he does not work with attention or care. I ended up calling the salon again because they have a policy where you can come in and get it fixed within seven days. I still felt as though my haircut was rushed because he had other clients after me, and I noticed he took more weight off one side than the other. In fact, to this day I still dont feel he did a thorough job. Given that this is a high end salon, I expected better care and attention. He seems to just get stressed and rush you, and I saw that with other clients as well. Also, I addressed how my face framing highlights were platinum blonde in parts and yellow in others. I thought this was attributed to the toner, but he ended up admitting that he broke my hair and that when I come in again he would fix it. I knew when he had been blowing it out that some pieces were shorter than others. Again, for the pricing and the nature of the salon, this is really sub par service. Definitely do not recommend. If he were really on it and truly a good professional I would not have to constantly come in and get stuff fixed.

I came in to do partial highlights after having previously done face framing highlights two weeks prior. The face framing highlights were poorly done. My hair broke and it was yellow. Despite this, I placed trust in junior to do my hair again thinking it would come out nice. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and let him know all I needed was a retouch since my highlights had grown out on the roots a little bit. I ended up leaving the salon with a head full of platinum blonde hair which was not at all what I asked for. I was also charged as if it were a full head job without this ever being consulted or communicated with me. Again, I had to come back to get it fixed it within a week and they tried to charge me again. and the managers response was to get a discount by coming in and getting it fixed with someone else. Absurd! It seems like they just like to jip you at this establishment. Even when you are suppose to get something fixed within the 7 day time frame, they still try to charge. Thats already happened to me twice. Ive never had to constantly come back and get a service fixed, especially at one that is supposedly high end. Save your time and money and go somewhere they will actually give your hair the proper attention and care. Will never be coming back again

Junior Passarinho dedicated the past 3 years to keep my hair not only beautiful but healthy. My nails are always done perfectly by the amazing manicures that work at Maria Bonita. Had an extremely negative experience trying out this salon for the first time. I was pointed to the waiting table by the owner (who was on her phone at the time) where I waited until 20 minutes past my appointment time. I asked an employee for an update and a glass of water, but didnt speak English and got the owner. The owner was brusque and impolite. My stylist had clearly been double booked, and rather than apologize or try to make amends, he cut my hair in a record 8 minutes, as the client next to me had a timer on her hair color. When I indicated the cut was not the same as the picture I gave him, he said oh! You wanted the cut in the photo. When I voiced my concern to the owner, she said that it wasnt her problem. Cannot stress this enough. Do. Not. Go. Here. It was such a bizarre and rude experience.

I have only been here to get a brazilian wax, but have not had a bad experience-and keep coming back! While in the past I have had people do a horrible job down there, at Maria Bonita I have yet to have a bad experience. If you get a chance ask for Regina, she has been waxing for over 30 years, and really knows what she is doing-and will make sure you look great while still making the experience quite quick so you are in, out, and looking good in the end.

Im new to New York and as I touched down I noticed that my hair was looking a little dull, my ends, a little frayed (understatement). After doing some research I decided to check this salon out. the ambiance was comfy, classy and everyone was very welcoming. I was greeted with a glass of rosè and after the hot cab ride it was a good way to get my appointment started.was very mindful during our consultation and at the end of my service my hair color was even, it was glossy, it looked healthy and despite being a brunette it had dimension, depth. The color WASNT just flat solid one block of black boring color, which is what I was afraid of. My cut had beautiful layers, that gave me some edge and my bangs finally werent a confusing mess on my forehead. I left the salon feeling like I came out of a Pantene commercial. But aside from that what really stood out withwas the way he carried himself. His style was on point, his smile was genuine, his conversation was entertaining but most importantly his work was top quality. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!!!

Im assuming the manager told me that she will call the owner so she can just get off the phone with me and never call me again. The owner mentioned that she will retrain the manager and Junior (the stylist). Which I find a relief. So they can better accommodate their future customers. Also the owner mentioned that I will get a refund for my trouble, which I think that was very professional of her. She handled the situation I went through gracefully. To be honest, I wish I requested any of the other stylist. I would probably be happy. I still cant recommend Junior to anyone, I would never wish that upon someone. The Instagram photos that originally interest me to go with Maria Bonita was from their top stylist. So I would recommend at least trying their top stylist.
