My son needed a prescription while we were on vacation last week. We were referred here by the MiDoctor Urgent Care down the street. The pharmacy staff was very friendly and helpful. While the store was very busy, I was able to get what my son needed quickly. It seemed like everyone was receiving good service. Thank you.

If there were a line for subject I would put, “Poor service and misinformed.” I went there as I needed mucinex and while I was looking for it, this person was getting his prescription refilled. When it was ready, he went to pay and was asked to show ID. I clearly heard him say, “I don’t have any on me but trust me, no one has ever tried—nor will it happen—to impersonate me nor steal my identity” (probably not verbatim but very close.) They were okay with his explanation as he left the store with his medicine. Good. It was then my turn so I asked for the mucinex, which they gave me… However, when it was time to pay they asked for ID, which I didn’t have on me as that medicine is an OTC one! I had to leave since I didn’t have ID on me but I knew that another pharmacy (Rite-Aid or Walgreens) was probably going to have it. And sure they did! Without asking for ID!To be honest, I felt discriminated against…

I visited them on Saturday to buy pepper spray. The worker who was there offered to tell me the difference between the sprays and so I listened attentively. One of my friends was also present and he stated to me that there was no big difference between either of the sprays except that the Mace brand one had 20 sprays and the Sabre one had 25.Funny enough, when I go home and happen to check their website, the one I had purchased THINKING it had 20 sprays actually had 10-15. This was a huge difference between what I was told and I would not have purchased the Mace brand if I knew it only carried 10-15.I contacted them on Sunday about this and was told that their policy doesn’t allow them to exchange pepper sprays but that the manager would get back to me with a resolution because there was clearly a miscommunication. The manager did not. So I called today and after being on hold with two different people, neither of which were the manager themselves, they relayed to me that “they cannot exchange it because of the nature of the product.” Even when I had explained that it was their employee’s fault for making such a big mistake, they refused to allow me to exchange it.I think it’s incredibly upsetting that because there are such high restrictions placed in NYC in regards to pepper spray, that they double the price just because they can. Furthermore, during a pandemic when many are unemployed. Add that to the fact that that they’re profiting off of fear as it is usually women who buy these to protect themselves. And even in the event that it is their fault for telling me the wrong information, they can’t make an exception in their policy when they buy these for less than 15 dollars. Especially when the pepper spray I bought is still completely sealed.I do not expect to business with them ever again and I do not think you should buy your pepper spray from here.

***THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE***I bought pepper spray here. Staff was helpful and friendly. I paid a around $30 each including tax. For all those people saying this is expensive and to buy it cheaper at Target, DO NOT BUY AT TARGET IF YOU LIVE IN NYC. ***Please read the law on what is required to buy and carry pepper spray.*** I had actually ordered 2 cans from Target a few weeks before coming to this pharmacy to purchase. 1st of all Target is not familiar with NYC laws, they shipped it to me, when the law clearly says the retailer is NOT ALLOWED TO SHIP IT. I tried to buy it on Amazon prior to Target, and Amazon will not ship it to a NY address because they are in compliance with the laws. I then took the spray to my nearby Target and asked them for the form to register or legalize my spray in compliance with the laws and the cashier girl asked her supervisor and they came back to me saying they did not have the forms. I promptly returned the pepper spray that I purchased from Target and went to this pharmacy when when I heard they had the forms. Yes, you can save yourself $20 bucks a spray but you risk spending that on legal fees when they find your pepper spray was not obtained in compliance with the law. I am dotting my is and crossing my ts. Id rather pay that extra $20 to cover my self in case I do use it and something happens. Please do your own research, I cannot stress this enough and stay safe out there.

I was with my friend, Zobaida, on March 27th when she bought the pepper spray. I clearly heard the employee stating that the Mace brand pepper spray had 20 bursts and that the Sabre brand had 25 bursts so there was “no real difference” between them. However, when she got home, she found out through THEIR website that it only had 5-15 SHORT bursts. It is dangerous and reckless for employees to give customers the wrong information, especially if it’s regarding something as damaging as pepper spray. I do not understand why employees who fail to provide the correct information are authorized to sell it. Instead of taking ownership of this, however, they refused to help her.So it is quite funny that when she posted a review about this PUBLICLY, they want to appear as though they’re willing to help. They even replied to her review stating that Mr. Baggio would be happy to help except when she tried to reach him two times by phone, he had his employees relay that he could not. Moreover, they’ve since edited that reply two times. So which is it?I will not be purchasing pepper spray from here and will recommend my friends not to either.

I can see where all the dis-satisfied c comments are coming from. Just spoke to them directly and they were really sketchy even when I mentioned the poor customer reviews. I love supporting small business, but they are selling an item for $30+ that you can buy for less than $10 and I can at least be assured of the quality and quantity from other vendors. This company is clearly trying to profit off of a current bad situation in NYC - so glad a Target opened up right near them, I will never give these people my businessEdit;. Management left a reply saying they have prices ranging from 17 to 32 dollars. The pharmacist I spoke to DIRECTLY told me there were 2 choices available, both in the low $30 range, for the exact same product you can buy for 12 dollars at Target. A small business should charge more money ( 250% seems like price gouging) but the bothersome part is if they are false advertising and selling 2/3 less products for 3x the price.. Having spoken directly to them and sensing all the back peddling the pharmacist ( who should be the most trustworthy) was doing, I would not be surprised at all if that were the case.Management would be better served focused on improving their operations as opposed to spending their time replying to all these negative comments

Excellent service and very organized. I was very stressed looking for pepper spray. There was a very kind woman who was my cashier and there was a man who was maybe the manager as he was walking back and forth. They answered all my questions. I was going to go somewhere else closer for pepper spray but decided to go a bit farther for the good reviews. I am very glad that I did! Will recommend to my friends as the spot in NYC for pepper spray and also to pick up anything else that may be needed. I hope that you and your staff stay safe in these troubling times.
