Fantastic first appointment! Dr. Shaw spent a great deal of time with me, put me at ease and made me feel truly cared for 100%. Highly recommend!

Worst place! Dont ever go there! Stuff is very rude!!!Dr. Shaw might be a great doctor, I honestly dont know. It happened that he did my C Section because my doctor was absent due to emergency. So he told me to come on check up 10 days after. I made an appointment, left my 10 days old baby and got there on time. They did all the paperwork since is my first time and told me to wait. 20 min later, they telling me that they cannot confirm my insurance so dr cannot see me, either to reschedule or to pay from my pocket! That is completely insane!!! No respect of your time!!! She was very rude and kept telling me same thing over and over. How the hell is my responsibility to confirm my insurance. They not even doing they job! Other places confirm your insurance prior to come in. This people are just rude and disoriented. Finally, I GOT MY INSURANCE ON THE PHONE AND CONFIRM! 1.5 hr of waiting, I got admitted, examined for 5 min and Dr. Shaw started walking away, like Everything is ok. I said that I have some questions and he said Come to my office with no direction where his office is 🤷‍♀️. I asked few questions and he seemed to be so bother with it.Overall, really dont recommend this place! Horrible experience!

Dr. Shaw has been my doctor for several years and I highly recommend him. Excellent bed side manners. Takes the time to speak with me / answers all my questions. Has done a great job at making all the proper recommendations / referrals when needed. He keeps it real! Yes the office staff can improve but that is a separate issue!

We visited Dr. Shaw after he came highly recommended from our OBGYN who we trusted unconditionally, but no longer delivers. The recommendation didnt disappoint - we could not have been more pleased with our overall experience with Dr. Shaws practice and expertise. Dr. Shaw is extremely thorough, personable, and honest/straightforward, which was extremely valuable during the entire process. He listens to all your questions and will let you know if something is of a true concern or not - offering in-depth explanations when needed so you feel as informed as possible. We had quite a few moments throughout the pregnancy that gave us serious scares, as Im sure many couples do - but Dr. Shaw was able to assuage our concerns when we were admittedly overreacting, and walk us through a workable process when it seemed like something we needed to address. He was readily available via text or phone, which put our minds at ease in any situation. Sometimes waits were long at the practice, but we truly believe that was a good thing - it meant he was taking his time with his patients, and not just checking the box. Whenever we talked to him, we felt like we and our baby were the only people that mattered in the moment, which is an invaluable feeling in a city as hectic and chaotic as NY.During the labor/delivery and post delivery, he made frequent visits with us and the baby, to ensure we were all doing well. He coached us through delivery and his team at Lenox Hill for delivery and postpartum is second to none. It’s evident he truly cares about his patients and we couldn’t have asked for a better doctor to oversee our pregnancy and the delivery of our baby boy! Dr. Shaw, thanks for everything, and when we do (eventually, no rush please!) decide to have another, well be right back in your office, where we know we are in the best hands.

As one other review says, the appointment felt rushed and insensitive. Now let me elaborate a little. I went for an annual check up. Dr. Shaw is affiliated with the clinic I went for my first pregnancy with. So that was already a plus.Now cons:Wait time was 50 min though I was 10 min early and they had all my paperwork already.In the exam room I had to sit for another 10 min, in a pretty chilled room, listening to dramatic exclamations by (as turned out later) doctor himself, ranting about something stressful to his nurse next door.Once arrived, doctor very nonchalantly to the extent of not-caring took a pep-smear, and left a room with words Meet me in my office without ANY direction where his office was in that labyrinth of rooms.Once in the office, it felt he dismissed my concerns and questions with annoyance and rush with phrases like It has nothing to do with my specialty (complaints about changed muscular feelings in general stomach area and more), You will be fine (concerns about future possible pregnancies). Instead he was very focused in taking my social history. Where Im from (no medical concerns by inheritance, etc.), what I do, where my city of birth is on the map. I was clearly not interested in the small talk and had questions regarding my health. To me saying I need to ask these questions he said Yes, you feel you need to ask something.Overall very unpleasant experience. Funny thing was that when I was airing to girlfriends about the visit, one of them said she had a very similar impression with the doctor during her first pregnancy so that she switched practice (3 months into). It turned out to be THE SAME DOCTOR! So not only I felt validated with my disappointment, I felt obliged to post a 1-star review. Hope it helps to someone to weigh their choice.

Definitely competent but something has changed about the care. My recent two appointments were rushed and insensitive. It would help if all providers would take the time to read notes before seeing patients so that they could at least pretend to remember them. I will definitely be making a change.

Dr. Shaw is a wonderful Obstetrician. I had a very difficult pregnancy but Dr. Shaw kept me positive and helped me deliver a beautiful baby boy. It will require some patience with the administrative staff but Dr. Shaw and Claudia are worth the effort.

Dr. Shaw is terrific. I enjoy visiting him, talking with him, and his office staff is amazing. Im not a fan of doctor visits. If I could, I would replace them with an app any day but not Dr. Shaw. Hes experienced, approachable with any question and his wait time is under 10 minutes. I wish all my doctors could be as professional as Dr. Shaw.

I have been a patient of Dr Shaw for over 5 years and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with him. He is professional, knowledgeable and takes his time with each and every patient. He recently saw me throughout my pregnancy and I found him to be extremely thorough. Early on in my pregnancy we had a scare, and he took great care to not only put my mind at ease, but also walk me through each and every step I could take to gain a more definitive diagnosis. I found his professional opinion honest and from a place of experience. Yes, I had a lot of sonograms, more so than what other girlfriends experienced, but I didnt really mind knowing that we were dotting every i, and crossing every t. It seemed some of my other friends had less of a relationship with their doctor during their pregnancy and I much prefer the more thorough approach at Rosh Maternal.In addition, the most remarkable quality of Dr. Shaw is that he is FUNNY! I never thought my husband would enjoy visiting the OBGYN, but he looked forward to our appointments just to get in a good laugh with Dr. Shaw.Also important to note, if he is overseeing your pregnancy there is a good chance he will deliver your baby. Many of my girlfriends said oh, youll never get your doctor. Well thats not true. He lives closed to the hospital and does everything he can to ensure he will be there to deliver. Unfortunately for me, my baby came early and he was enjoying his last day of vacation - thus, I missed him in the delivery room. With that said, the very next day Dr. Shaw came to my hospital room to check on me. We were both disappointed he couldnt be there, but laughed hed make it to baby #2.If you are looking for an old school doctor with a modern flair, Dr. Shaw is the guy for you!

I highly recommend Dr. Shaw, Ive been seeing him for years now . I Recommended alot of my friends, who also love him. He is friendly, caring and makes you feel comfortable. He also delivered my daughter who is going to be 14 years old. Couldnt be happier 😀

Ive been seeing Dr Shaw for years. I called this morning because after four years of trying I took a pregnancy test and it is positive. I spoke to the receptionist and she was aware of my insurance and scheduled an appointment immediately. Once I got to the office she informs me that they no longer accept my insurance and cannot see me unless I pay $900! I am shocked, disappointed and saddened that this would not be disclosed before making the appointment. What is supposed to be a happy time is know clouded by this experience as I now have to rush to find a new gynocologist.

Dr. Shaw is a wonderful doctor. He puts you at ease and is very knowledgeable. My sister also sees him. I recommend him to all of my friends.

Our experience with Dr. Shaw has been exceptional . The staff at his office is very good and everyone that has helped us has been really nice and knowledgeable of what they are doing . We had our baby on the 15th of September and I cant say enough about Dr.Shaw and the staff at the hospital . Dr. Shaw is super professional and has helped us feel so comfortable through out the entire pregnancy . The delivery was great and our baby is beautiful . Awesome experience . Will definitely recommend Dr. Shaw to all my friends and family .

Howard Shaw, MD is a wonderful MD but I do NOT recommend this doctor if youre pregnant!When you call the office there is a wait to speak to a representative for about 10-15min even when you say you have a 101.3 fever and are concerned about the baby (they still put me on hold).I tried to reach the doctor in the evening, no answer! He never called me back and I was very sick I ended up in the emergency room at Lenox Hill and they recommended changing doctors and filing a complaint.I realized many other women have lawsuits against this place due to lack of treatment, care, malpractice etc!I do NOT recommend this place. If you will like to contact me for the information in regards to those other lawsuits complaints please do!This place has no regard for the women who go there and its all about $$$ for them

Dr. Shaw is amazing. He is warm and caring. I highly recommend him!
