I had my second appointment with Dr. Kumar yesterday and was even more pleased than with my first visit, which was a very positive experience. Talk about being thorough!!! That doesnt even scratch the surface of what a good diagnostician he is! Not only did Dr Kumar explain my condition and treatment options, he also pointed out other conditions I was unaware of. He takes the time to explain things and answer questions and never seems impatient or too busy, showing me the x-rays and ultrasound results. I have absolute faith and confidence that Dr. Kumar will be able to help me have a better quality of life. Hes a blessing in my life!!!

Strangest thing happened to me, while under his care. I was seeing him for systemic lupus, With good health insurance, and I received a letter in the mail letting me know that he can no longer see me.I found it to be a little odd, but it was on a Friday evening and I couldn’t call back until Monday to try o get a explanation. I called the office the following Monday to try to get a explanation. I left a message for him and the nurses and never received a call back during that week. (To make matters worse, it was time for my follow up appointment, so that I could receive my hydro chloroquine refill. )I kid you not, I didn’t hear from them for almost two weeks, after leaving a few messages. At this point, I had gone days without my medication. A nurse called back and they were able to call my medication in, to help “hold me up”, until I found a new doctor. I still haven’t heard from him or received any explanation. All of this in the middle of a pandemic and I have to find a new doctor..

Nothing but good things to say. Cares for his patients and does a great job helping them understand their diagnosis. Highly recommend.

Start off by saying Dr. Kumar is great. He listens and answers questions. He is one of the best around this area. He is almost always punctual. If he is behind, its because a patient was late. He has a passions for helping people, so he is still going to see them, but at his discretion. I like that he is quick. There isnt much of a reason to stay with a patient for longer than 15 mins. Have your questions ready before you get there. Hes on his laptop listening and typing what the patient says to keep a record for next time. Duh.Im more active, and I feel so much better.Rheumatological issues are difficult for any doctor to treat. Things take time, people. Its taken almost 3 years, but we are almost there. Also, rheumatological issues will NOT completely go away even with the best medications because modern medicine has failed us who are chronically ill, but not his fault. Youre still going to have flare ups from time to time due to LIFE. Lastly, Rheumatological issues and YOUR attitude go hand in hand. Rheumatological issues do NOT like piss poor attitudes. Just some unsolicited advice. 😁

Cocky and rude. Stares at computer the whole time. Rushes out of room. Acts like he has somewhere better to be. No bedside manner.

Doc and his nurses are so kind. He may be surprised at that. I am grateful to have a doctor who cares. He is thorough , really kind and knows his stuff. I appreciate his team and am grateful he cares enough to take the long way and not just blow people off. I would HIGHLY recommend him as a rheumatologist and as of now an investigator. Smart with bedside manner and common sense. Five stars and thanks.

It depends on what he sees as to how much time he needs to spend for a good diagnosis. First visit he only spent about10 minutes. This last visit was about 30 minutes. That is very rare. He is very thorough in his diagnosis.

After 3 visits over a 5 month period Dr. Kumar was treating me for gout. My condition kept worsening so I got a second opinion, turns out that I have a severely torn meniscus in my knee and will have to have surgery next week. Despite telling him that my knee was getting progressively worse and the medication was not working he just wanted me to come back again in 6 weeks. Also spent over $1000 on meds. I also had problems getting someone to call me back to try and get a quicker appointment. Very disappointed to have lost a half year of my life with this.

Dr Kumar is very professional and knowledgeable. What I like most is that he doesn’t beat around the bush, and if he doesn’t know something, he says so. He then offers you possible solutions to find out the answer. The best example I can give on how thorough he is is this: on one of my follow up visits, I told him not to get too close to me and wash his hands afterwards because I had a cold. He was concerned enough to have his lab do a flu and strep test on me. Now that is caring service that we don’t see you enough anymore.

UPDATE 7/30/20: As much as I HATE to do this, I feel compelled to update my review so that other patients can be thoroughly and strongly WARNED. Maybe someone can learn from my mistake. After being referred to, and seeing Dr. Kumar for maybe a year or so - and personally referring other patients to him - I was suddenly dismissed from his office sometime in March or April. I did not learn of this until I called to refill my Enbrel at the end of JULY and was told I no longer had a prescription. After called Dr. Kumars office, I was informed of my dismissal, and the girl at the front desk quite rudely told me I could not speak to a nurse, or a doctor, that she could not take a message from me, and that I could not even come to the office to speak to someone - not even the office manager!! WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR does this to a patient during a PANDEMIC?? What happened to FIRST DO NO HARM? I am absolutely flabbergasted and infuriated! So now, I have no rheumatologist, no way to get my records to transfer to a new rheumatologist, none of my necessary immunosuppressant medication, and no way to get any in time to prevent a negative effect. I find it absolutely DISGUSTING that a medical professional would treat someone with a lifelong condition in such a careless and undignified way. I would STRONGLY caution anyone looking for a good rheumatologist to think long and hard before trusting Dr. Kumar with their care, as they may be left injudiciously stranded, much as I have been. I sincerely hope that my warning can be heeded by other people. I feel ashamed that I told friends and family to see this uncaring person. How on Earth did I fill a prescription for a specialty medication for months and months, if I was no longer under that physicians care? That alone, is a frightening thought and gives me pause. Who in his office was authorizing me to receive a medication without me being a patient at that office? What would have happened if I experienced a side effect?Worst of all, I feel a flare starting, and there is absolutely nothing I can do about it, since I have been abandoned by the one person who could help me, and Ive actually been prevented from seeking out immediate medical help with this by their negligence, or worse, their willful maltreatment. Ive never heard of a clearer case of medical malpractice. Please, PLEASE, if you need a rheumatologist, find someone who wont carelessly discard you like trash.__________________________________________________________Dr. Kumar is very thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. I have nothing but the best things to say about him. In fact, everyone in his office is amazing - from the receptionist, to the nurses, lab workers, insurance people and cashiers. I have been treated with nothing but the utmost respect by this entire office, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have Dr. Kumar as the first (and hopefully, ONLY) rheumatologist I have been referred to as a patient. He is so dedicated to patient care, that he has given me flu shots, pneumonia shots, and even treated a silly cut on my foot that wouldnt seem to heal.Unfortunately, due to my own stubbornness, I refused to see a rheumatologist about my chronic condition for about a decade. Dr. Kumar seemed to know exactly what my issues were, ordered the proper tests, got me diagnosed and on immunosuppressants in less than six months. For a disease I had never even heard of! He always takes the time during appointments to spend time talking to you, and asking about your treatment, progress, medications, illnesses, etc.Wait times are almost never an issue here. I dont think Ive ever waited over 20 minutes to see him, even though he certainly doesnt make you feel rushed during your appointment. I would recommend anyone looking for a good, caring rheumy to see him. As a mom, the highest compliment I have to offer him, is that I also referred my young adult daughter to him as well, for the same genetic condition. That is how much trust and faith I have in Dr. Kumar.

Terrible doctor. Seems to think all middle aged women suffer from mental issues, not physical ones. Very dismissive; is this a cultural thing? I stopped going to him, I’d rather have no doctor than Dr. Kumar.

I transferred to him from another rheumatologist. He explained more to me in my first visit than the other doctor did in two years. He was very pleasant and took time to answer my questions. He is wonderful in my opinion.

Horrible doctor. Misdiagnosed me because he thought I was too stressed out because I have more than 1 child. No! I have autoimmune issues and it has nothing to do with how many children I have!!

Went to him for 2 years, the medicine he prescribed didnt help enough. When I asked if he would help me apply for disability he said he doesnt help people with fibromyalgia get disability. Said he doesnt help anyone get it unless they are bound to a wheelchair. If you can still use your legs dont expect him to help you get disability.
