I’m hoping this will save people from the heartache and loss we have suffered by the hands of these butchers who call themselves doctors. My father was a new patient of Dr Zachary Segal, he saw him for a routine injection for macular degeneration in his left eye. The same treatment my father has been getting for 20 years from other doctors without any issues. This place is a factory, patients wait hours before being seen. On my fathers visit Dr Segal ran in and did the injection as quick as he could and ran out. My father suffered with excruciating pain over the next few days and complained of blindness in that eye. Realising this was serious I rushed him into the doctors offices only to wait there for hours again (even in an emergency) and was seen by another doctor as Dr Segal was away, Dr Bacallao, examined my father and attempted to cover up the grim prognosis - I had to force the truth out of him. It turned out that Dr Segal had punctured the retina causing total retinal detachment and the left inner eye had been bleeding profusely since the injection. We had rush to Bascom Palmer Eye Hospital Emergency room immediately that night! My father had emergency surgery but the sight in the left eye could not be saved. Dr Segal had butchered him beyond repair! My father is now completely blind in that eye. The operating surgeon said my father was the second emergency case that had come in from Dr Segal in just 7 days! Dr Segal who took an oath to ‘do no harm’ has completely destroyed my father’s life, and countless others from what I’ve unofficially heard from surgeons at Bascom Palmer. It’s been months now and my father has been in pain ever since, mentally and physically and his quality of life has deteriorated significantly. So please please DO NOT go to these people for your treatment. You do not ever want to be in our position. On a last note The Florida Medical Board is currently investigating this doctor and the practice.
