Went twice, in 2019 i was there for a month, & in 2020 i was there for a week. great experiences both times. Gail is amazing, the amount of care she has for the patients is beyond me. i felt listened to & cared for by almost all of the staff. i got to paint a mural on the wall outside, which was really awesome. michael (bht) played dominos with me since i didn’t really get along with anyone my second time there. overall, the staff cares. some of them even helped with my eating disorder. i’m going to be 18 in less than a month & i can confidently say that my treatment here has really helped me get back on my feet.

I was there twice in 2019 and 2020 at Unit 2 but it was overall a good experience the staff there were great but the food sucked that was pretty much the only downside. And Gail is a REALY good social worker and if you go there make sure to listen to her advice. 🥰🤦‍♀️

If you are homeless it is a great place to get three hots and a cot. It is actually a campus and not a medical treatment facility, nowhere on the pamphlet did it say it was a hospital. 2/10 Nurses were honest, kind and respectful. The Behavioral Health Technicians are great except for the fact there is not enough leadership in doing what is right like treating patients with dignity, respect and standing up for what is right because they are too concerned with their own job. By far one of the worse times of my life while receiving care here. Valleywise can GFTS.

9 months agoHorrible they wouldnt give me a bed pan when I needed. The nurse looked right at me and told me no so I urinated myself. This is the worst hospital Ive ever seen and Ive been to a 3rd world country. Just awful uncaring staff. Doctors dont care.Im still traumatized from it.

Most of was nice, i miss paz, erica, gale davita and teresa soooo much. Great doctors. Not very fancy, but as a mental facility what do u expect, some days are more fun than others but u get to play the game. some rooms have hotter water than others. They’re really attentive and care tho. &I met a lot of great friends in unit 2.💕

I worked at this hospital for 2 years! I really enjoyed the hospital staff tremendously. They were caring, helpful and dedicated. It’s a hard place to be if you’re new to the behavioral health system, but the staff are there for any questions you may have. It always helps to have some clarity during yours or your loved ones darker times.

Its hard to have a loved one sent there for many reasons. But thanks to their hard work and documentation of my loved ones behavior they got court order medication for my loved one.Quickly my loved ones behavior improved to be able to function and have a fulfilling life again. They always make you feel welcomed as a visitor even if getting your loved one to accept seeing you in the beginning can be a hassle since your loved one has to accept which with mental illness can be challenging but once youre in youre in for good and theyll be very comforting when something bad happens because of mental health issues.Ive seen my loved ones behavior going from each day is worse than the previous one to almost back to normal.Even when my loved one was violent with staff I witnessed very calm handling and very professional behavior. It couldnt have been done more calmly and tranquilizers were really used as last resort as the behavior was dangerous for self and others. Also they wont let my loved one just go back outside, there is a serious follow up which is very reassuring.I dont know how our family would have survived without this place, not only doctors, but also Social Workers and lawyers. They helped dealing with legal stuff and avoid a financial disaster for our family. I lack of words to say thank you.

I was here for I believe a month and a couple of weeks. All of the staff were very manipulative to my family and myself. I cant remember most of my days there because I was in a schizophrenia state. The staff drugged me up and Id tell my mother once I was aware of everything that was going on in that place. Theyll give you unnecessary drugs and unnecessarily force you down when they feel like it. They forced me a couple of times because I told my mother they want to keep giving me medication that wasnt for me. They told my mother I wasnt taking the medication that was supposedly meant for me. Which I knew the ones I would take daily. They would stop giving me my daily medication so they can call my mother and tell her Im not taking it so they can force me. Bare in mind that my mother is full aware of good and bad people. She and my family are best that could have happened to me because they came almost every day. One of the doctors harrassed me and told me if my mother comes back that something is going to happen to me. I told my mother this once I was out the hospital. I also told her the doctor was pocking me extremely hard on my chest when I could barely move because of the medication. It took me about a year to have full strength, full body movements and to be able to talk. They drugged me up so bad that I couldnt do any of that. I was drooling every where I had gone and had the shakes. I thank God Im out of that hell hole. Nobody belongs there and I pray every day that nothing happens to anyone that asked for help and was court ordered because the characters of the staff are dead inside. They have no heart and I do believe they are very bad people.

I called to find out what was needed to start receiving treatment & what services they offered. When they answered the phone the lady didnt let me get 2 words out before transferring me to some one else. When my call was answered I said Hi, Im calling.. I heard him mumble something as he hung up the phone. I definitely will not be calling this place again, I can only imagine how people are treated in person. Desert Vista doesnt deserve the star rating I gave them.

My son has been there since April this year. I love the staff there and they treat my son with respect. They understand his mental illness and help him with his coping skills. I do not like the lack of communication regarding his behaviors and physical. His social worker calls after various complaints regarding lack of communication about one out of five times.

If you want help for your loved one, dont go here.My brother was sent to Desert Vista via court-order after he attacked my mom and nearly broke down her door trying to get to her. A few days prior to that the cops had been called out to our home for another spout of domestic violence, aggravated assault, and vandalism. A few weeks before that the cops were called out because he tried to stab his friends with a knife. He has a long history of PDD and Bi-Polar syndrome.Desert Vista kept him for a week before they decided he didnt need to be there. Why?Because he told them he was Okay. He wasnt going to hurt himself or anyone else. And that was good enough for them. And, because the court ordered that my brother could not return to our parents house for their protection and he has no friends, they kicked him out onto the streets. This is not the kind of place to send your child, sibling, or loved one if you truly want them to get the help they deserve. They flat out told my parents We dont care.

The doctors there are some of the best and go all out for the patients under their care. However, the general staff working there is another story and theres not enough space to explain it all.Ill share one of problems that really had my wife and I mad as heck. My daughter was taken there and coldly dropped off on a gurney by correctional officers from the Maricopa county jail. She was in terrible shape and on her last leg. She had been incarcerated there for over a year without being put before a judge and allowed to plea. She was never officially charged with a crime nor afforded the due process our fore fathers put in place under this countrys constitution. This whole time we had no contact with her and all our attempts to do so failed. We were subsequently notified of her release by a social worker assigned there. We were requested to bring some cloths, toiletries and items such as books and drawing material to help occupy her time there. We brought a couple of large bags of these items the next day and turned them over to the appropriate staff members to inspect before giving them to our daughter. We visited almost every day there after for over a month that she was there. The following day we discovered she hadnt received the care package we brought her and were told it sometimes takes afew days to go through the process. For the next three to four weeks we inquired about these items Somme of which she still had not received. We were always given some weak excuse and told to be patient. I was fed up and began asking to see a list of their chain of command for names and phone numbers of management to file a report with. I never got anywhere and continued to get a run around. Some of the items began filtering down piece meal to her but she never got all of the items. Some of the new items were exchanged for used and worn items which really upset us. After reporting the matter to her social worker he looked in to it. He said that every one he talked to stated they knew nothing about it.Thats pretty sad for this type of thing to go on at a place established to help those in bad need. It destroys the credibility of the place and carrys over effecting all the good and trusting employees who provide a good service and would never do anything like that. I still havent gotten over that and other terrible things that happened to her.Let me be clear about this, the doctors and medical staff that worked with her were great and did alot of good helping our daughter receive proper medication and counseling to get her on a recovery program. To those dedicated professionals Im truly grateful. To those low lifes responsible for the in house theft you ought to be ashamed and you will be judged one day trust me.

Terrible place and treatmentATTENTION:Please be involved in your Loved Ones treatment and Medication. Do your own research on the medication and side effects. I was wrongfully admitted, erroneously diagnosed. Released after 2 weeks of refusing medication (except one night) i was given Resperidone and was told it was a sleeping pill. Needed due to my physical pain and being refused MMJ.

The staff at desert vista got away with forcing scrubs on my brother, who was not talking at the time, who could not tell them without anything to write to let him dress himself. The staff also let the high risk patients pick at him and touch him in places men should not touch other men at. He reacted worse and worse to the point where he started throwing things and overreacting too anyone and everyone touching him and then they started heavily medicating him to the point where he was barely coherent, the doctors ended up giving him an antipsychotic called resperodon, he immediately screamed from immense pain and the staff kept giving him respirodal. The staff assumed he was faking until he slipped into a coma. It took my brother almost dying for the doctors to realize that my brother is part of %1 of the human population that has a lethal allergy to resperdon. My brother could have died, after he woke up from a month long coma he woke up in stages, the first stage was seeing the whites of his eyes while he slurred sentences my mother, brother and sister could not understand. The second stage was rapid eye movement and short mobility. The Third stage was nerve pain in his left leg that pain killers could not help, he screamed and screamed to the point where he could barely get any sleep for a month. It was all a sickness called Neural Malignant Syndrome. After all of the hell he went through, the techs, nurses and psych doctors were not brought up on charges, absolutely no one was held responsible. Anyone and everyone who loves the members of their family who need help in regards to their mental health DO NOT EVER SEND THEM TO DESERT VISTA THE STAFF THAT WORK THERE WILL DAMAGE THEM BEYOND ANY AND ALL RECOVERY, MAYBE EVEM KILL THEM.

I had a positive experience at Desert Vista. They were there for me at a time when I had no insurance and couldnt afford to see a doctor. The co-payments were very reasonable, and they gave me samples of my medication because I couldnt afford it. They gave me paperwork to receive free meds directly from the company which made them since I qualified. Doctor Bahar Goldestan ( not sure if spelled correctly), was very caring, helpful and insightful. I referred a friend and they are helping him as well. This place was a real BLESSING for me!
