This is a very old gym with equipment directly from 80s. The highest price for it is 20$ a month (equipment, amount of light, air is the opposite of being fresh, grim atmosphere) not 45, mind you ACAC in Richmond charges 55, but unlike this gym you get what you pay for. Also, when they say they dont have any hidden cancelation fees and etc. dont listen to them. You have to notify them 30 days in advance (because in 2021 their advance payment system takes 30 days to cancel subscription), and you will be charged for the following month, regardless youre coming in or not. I havent been to other Ys, word is theyre nicer, but this one is (redacted)

Its a great place there swim tests are very easy and its really close to are house the only thing I dont like is the lifeguards are kinda strict😌

The procedures for keeping folks safe are impressive. I will be coming back!

The YMCA is an amazing place that welcomes all. I have seen first hand the lives that have been changed there. To all the Moms and Dads out there the YMCA has child watch! Drop your children off in a safe and comfortable play area why you workout and relieve stress!! I assure you that you will not regret being part of this special place.

I worked and worked out here for a number of years. There are a wide variety of programs and exercise classes, and the free weights area is great, although sometimes it can get a little cramped at peak hours. They are continually working on expanding and updating their facilities, and I absolutely love the pools.

My favorite Y in the area its got a old school feel to the basement workout area and a wonderful group of people and staff!

Don’t waste your money on kids swim lessons! The biggest waste of time! My daughter wasn’t even in the water for 1/3 of the time. The instructors are lazy and not prepared ! I will never go back to this location! This place needs help!

Pool, cardio equipment, weights, sauna: exactly what you expect from a Y. Its the oldest one in the area but they offer towel service which is nice.

Love this place although they should change the hours from closing at 10 to closing at 9:45 because that is when they kick you out regardless. Don’t advertise being open till 10 when you clearly are not.

Excellent facilities. Steam room, sauna, racquetball and handball courts, huge indoor pool.

Helpful staff, upgraded bathrooms even a steam room! Spacious inside despite outside appearance.

Towel service, which contributes to a cleaner and healthier environment, and frequently updated cardio equipment....the Downtown Y is the best facility in Lynchburg, mostly due to the recent renovations.
