Most of the stools in the womens shower are broken, some for more than two years, since months before the pandemic. If they cant be repaired, they should be removed and replaced with something portable. Its hard to shower without a dry place to set down a bag. Otherwise, the classes and facility is great. Looking forward to the outdoor pool opening soon.Update: The response of Peak to my post above was immediate. Within days, the broken stools were gone, and shortly after that there were beautiful, large, sturdy teak stools in each shower stall. What a nice upgrade!Today I received a very thoughtful note in the mail from PSC along with some guest passes. How very gracious and generous. I will enjoy using the passes next week when my daughter comes to visit me from NYC, the first time Ive seen her in a year. She is a fitness fan, and I am especially happy to be able share my beautiful workout facility with her. Thank you, Peak Sports Club-- best fitness club in town!

We just got a family membership and got to go workout today. Had a lot of fun! So much to see and do at Peak. They have such a variety to accommodate everyones fitness needs. We cant wait for the pool outside to open too but for now, you can use the indoor one. This year is a new year to really think about making sure we all take care of our health, our families and ourselves so we can all live long, healthy lives and enjoy every moment. So please sign up, there is no commitment and you can cancel if your needs change. I bet you will feel better. I know I do. Take care care out there Rockford!

This is not so much a review of multiple things as it is only one extremely significant thing. for the past month or so ive been working out and (more importantly) going swimming with my family. so wed go swimming probably once every two fridays. the first few times we went we always smelled an extremely large amount of chlorine. it was up until the last time i was here that it was so bad that after accidentally swallowing the water and getting it in my nose and ears that i felt a wierd feeling in my throat. i tried drinking an obscene amount of water and it never went away. the next morning i had the worst sickness ive had in years. their water is literally so chlorine enduced that i literally got sick from it.

ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PLACE. my family and I have had a membership with them for about 9 years and I’m honestly so sick of this place. Everytime I come in they ask me to stay for 30 min just to figure out if I’m a member or not even if I scan my card. When I was younger I was swimming with my dad and he went to the bathroom for one second and the minute he left they kicked me out of the pool and wouldn’t let me back in then proceeded to tell us both to leave. The machines are dirty and the management is terrible. Rude and terrible business.

Totally understand the Covid-19 situation has put a strain on businesses but my experience trying to get settled back in at Peak has been nothing less than a nightmare.1) The website for the better part of April and May gave no updates. It gave email addresses and phone numbers for inquiries. At least a half dozen emails and phone calls during this period of time went unanswered.2) In June the website was reconfigured giving more detail about the facility with a now required username and password to sign up for specific activities including the reservation of lap lanes in the pool. After I got my info squared away the system allowed me to sign in for Thursday, June 25 and reserve a lap lane from 6am-7am. I received an email confirmation from Peak. On Wednesday, June 24 I stopped by Peak to inquire about the protocol for swimmers since I had a reservation for the next day. The person I spoke to at the front desk was curt and abupt. Were closed tomorrow. When you reserve a lap lane youll get an email confirmation. I showed her my email confirmation on my phone, You mean this? Her eyes got large. She kept on saying theyre closed. I asked for Tony, the facility manager, to inform him about the software problem allowing members to schedule when the facility is closed. She replied, Hes not here. I asked if Mark the owner is on site. She replied, Yes, and then I asked if I could speak with him. She said, I dont know where hes at. I asked if he had an office there. She said, No. She obviously didnt want to help me. I had just driven around all morning doing errands and stopped by as previously mentioned to inquire about the pool protocol. I asked if I could use the nearby restroom. Although people were in and out all day and the previous day getting their login information she replied, No, were closed. I asked her name. She said, Jill. Then I left. I told my wife about my experience at Peak with Jill. My wifes response (and she is a retired director), Jills forte doesnt appear to be customer service. Considering were paying over $900 a year for our membership lets think about going to the YMCA. Theyve always been friendly. I told her lets see how this plays out in the next week since theyre just getting back to business and people have been stressed.3) On Saturday, June 27 myself and others showed up for a 7:05am RPM spin class. Bottom line? No class today and not until July 6 according to the front desk people. Myself and others reviewed the Peak website and didnt see anything indicating no classes until July 6.On Sunday, June 28 while grocery shopping I encountered two people I know who were Peak patrons. Both said theyve encountered similar scheduling issues in the past week with less than cordial assistance. One already said hes going elsewhere. Since a huge LA Fitness facility is planned for the Rockford area near State and Perryville people will have more opportunities from a nationwidefitness company. At this point were looking elsewhere for fitness accommodations and if we join elsewhere well calculate whats owed to us on our remaining membership at Peak if we cancel. In two words Peaks transition can be described as chaos management with emphasis on chaos. Heres the kicker. I told some Peak staff about my experience on Wednesday with Jill and her lack of people skills. They smiled, rolled their eyes, and said, Shes related to the owner. Weve only been in the state line area since 2004. Within a short time after moving here we learned that if you burn enough bridges in Rockford youre pretty much done. I know a thing or two about organizational management and now do consulting for companies. If Peak continues in the manner Ive described its only a matter of time there will be some type of transition.

I left Peak sports club several years ago after an ongoing battle with pubic hair, urine and scum in both the bathrooms and showers. I came back when I needed access to a pool. The gym I was frequenting before my return to peak maintained clean showers and bathrooms. I was disappointed when I returned to peak to find that the management had not cracked the janitorial code. I resolved to stay and now I stoically endure the grime, urine and pubic hair for the betterment of my health. I am willing to pay an extra $1 per month to subsidize a 24 hour cleaning crew. Please consider making improvement in this area. Hyperbole was intended in both my score and narration. The facility is excellent in many ways. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Beautiful gym but the staff is a little questionable. I was swimming laps today 9/1, and the lifeguards were running around the pool deck with a ball then proceeded to climb the slide and throw balls across the pool, into the lap lanes where people were swimming. Joined peak fitness recently and was willing to pay the extra money because of the child care 3 and 6 years old. The 6 year old was excited because of the play set but my 3 year old felt hosed. She had to watch her brother play on the playset while she was offered little tikes and a walk behind mower. Never mind she was taller then some of the kids in the big kid area. She is more advanced then most 3 year olds fully potty trained and only lacking in pronunciation of words due to being dead the first half of the year. Not worth the extra money if we cant both workout at the same time. Might as well join anytime and we switch off going taking three hours out of our day. Other then that looked like it was an awesome facility. Was really looking forward to using it.

Peak is tricky. The actual facilities and equipment are actually quite good, but the clients ruin it. It’s really crowded at the oddest times (3:00 on a Wednesday or Friday afternoon), and the majority of members don’t seem the least bit interested in the fact that there are other people around who also need to use the equipment (or lockers, locker room benches, etc). It’s even worse in the summer or anytime kids are out of school. Not to mention there are signs up specifically indicating children are only allowed in the Family locker rooms, yet far too many parents ignore this and bring their 2-7 year olds into the Men’s locker room. When everyone thinks they’re exempt from the rules (or just normal, considerate behavior) you end up with an environment of total selfish bedlam where NO ONE benefits. I’ve even left out negatives for sake of brevity.

The majority of the facility is clean with regular changes of water to the hot tub and repeated cleaning of the lap pool. However, the staff are high schoolers mostly and can be immature if not rude at times. If you go at the right time you can get to pretty much any machine without a wait time due to a large selection. However, going in mid afternoon or morning and anytime on the weekends can sometimes be committing yourself to change your workout due to an over run of people. This is a very popular gym in the Rockford area.

I never have any issue with staff. Very friendly folks with greetings. Some complains I read here are rare cases, and staff takes care of it as soon as spotted.Manners of majority members are good with few exceptions who are like that at home.
