Stopped in during the Sunday open meditation. Very calm and friendly environment. New to meditation and was a great place to start!

Ive been to this particularShambhala 2x, toShambhala centers for over15 years and to Buddhist temples and centers since1992. Theabsolutely ridiculous amount of noise from people moving dishes on and on and all the chat while the sitting meditation is occurring in the room next to it is absurb... NEVER experienced so much lack of understanding or respect. Also lots of door slamming (anyone know how to manually close a door in a quiet manner??). Shambhala needs to do a thorough review... bulls in a China shop are not helpful to their cause

From the first time I walked into the Shambhala center of LA in 2006 I felt right at home. The community run center is truly a family. This is obvious to anyone walking in by the countless of free programs available to beginners to meditation and seasoned meditators alike. The paid programs are worth 3X what they ask for, and still their policy is that no one is going to be turned away for lack of funds.

I went to the meditation intro class last night, and it was exactly what I was looking for. The class starts at 7:30, and I arrived at 7:20. I have to say, I was quite nervous because I didnt know what to expect. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the nights host, who was sitting at a table of snacks with six other people. They all welcomed me, and most of them were first time visitors as well.At 7:30 we took our shoes off and went into the meditation room. The nights teacher spoke with use for a bit, lead us in a meditation, and then talked to us afterwards about our experiences. There were around 15 of us, and all there for various reasons. The class lasted until 9:00.If youre curious about meditation, or would just like a refresher, Id highly recommend it.

A warm friendly place that is so simply and elegantly conducive to slowing down, relaxing, and getting familiar with ourselves and our minds. Ive been going to both the Eagle Rock and Mar Vista centers for a few years now, and it has helped to give me tools that help me improve/enhance/enjoy my everyday life. A great combo of meditation practice, teaching, community and ummm food :)

I appreciate the environment, the people, the meditation and the teachings. Its about everything -- life and death and everything -- but its also so normal and sensible. Makes me feel better about the world.
