Brent at CANIS is the absolute best! We have known Brent for quite a while and not only do we keep coming back, but we refer people non stop. We trained our 9 yr weim (and her brother who we just lost) with Brent 8 yrs ago and it was revolutionary. We had two big dogs with zero manners and it evolved into us being able to take them camping (staying in tents), going to the beach off leash, going on hikes and all of us living a MUCH better/happier/stress free life. This time around we started training when our Doberman was around 4 months and its been incredible. Obiously that was also right aroundthe shut down, but Brent always finds a way! We had zoom classes and our puppy was still learning. He is whipped into shape, playing off leash on our front yard and progressing towards being like our other dog running off leash on hikes and at the beach.I could not possible recommend a trainer higher than Brent. I referred my own father, let alone countless friends and other people to him. PLEASE dont miss the opportunity to get this done RIGHT.Also, hes a character. He makes training and listening to the how-to stuff a lot of fun!!

Brent Labrada of CANIS is a fantastic dog trainer and a great person to boot. Hes patient and insightful and really helps you communicate and bond with your dog.I have about as comprehensive an experience as one could have with Brent. We have a really energetic dog -- not an easy dog by any stretch. Hes kind of a punk kid. So weve completed three group courses with Brent, sent our pup away to spend 3+ weeks with Brent, and had numerous private sessions with him.The classes were always fun and productive. It was so rewarding to see how much progress a dog can make in a single class or just one week when the owner knows the right way to do things. All three class levels were totally worthwhile. Our dog still isnt easy, but he knows how to behave and most importantly he *listens* to us and obeys. After completing two of the courses, we turned our dog over to Brent for three weeks to try to address some behavioral issues. Aside from learning a handful of new moves, the biggest difference was our pups attentiveness -- after a few weeks with Brent, he had become so much more focused on listening and responding quickly to commands.Even though hes a 60 pound high-drive dog with a competitive streak, we can take him to a cafe with us now because he knows how to listen and almost always does what we say. And we can leave him with a dog sitter when were out of town and not worry. If you saw us on the street, youd probably think hey, thats a really well-behaved dog. As the owner of a pretty challenging pup, those things are huge.Brent is a fantastic trainer and you should definitely try him out.UPDATE: taught my dog how to high-five last night in about three minutes thanks to the methods we learned from Brent. :-)SECOND UPDATE: I wanted to do another update since it’s been about a year since I wrote this review and longer than that since we finished Zephyr’s training with Brent. The work we did with Brent just keeps paying dividends — it’s awesome. I basically stopped doing regular training with Zephyr over the past year, maybe just showing off his handful of “tricks” for friends. But he’s gotten even better! Seriously, even without regular charging of his training my hyper dog is more attentive and responsive than ever to us. All the work we did up-front is just continuing to payoff as he grows up. It’s been really amazing. Brent rules.

Brent and his team are transformative. He trained our dog Sasha and it completely changed both her and us. Working with Brent isnt just a one-off thing. He invests in both the dogs and the people. Sasha came back from the boarding program well schooled, but then we needed to put in the work over the next 6-8 weeks with Brent to transform the way she behaved and we trained her.

Brent has trained 4 dogs for me over the past 8 years and I always come back to him because he is THE BEST! I was fostering dogs that were had to place, tough breeds sometimes need a little extra & that special touch than just a normal group class so I took them to Brent and immediately after graduation from Boot Camp they both got forever homes! The other two dogs I kept! They are so well trained I get asked daily if they are working dogs or service dogs! THANK YOU BRENT!

CANIS and Brent LaBrada are wonderful. Our 8-week old puppy absolutely loves learning from Brent. His method of training is so loving and effective coupled with his ability to teach my wife and me how to further the training he’s instilled in our pup. I would recommend EVERYONE I know in the LA area to CANIS. Brent is uniquely passionate and committed to the betterment of every dog’s behavior and every family’s joy.

Brent is amazing! I came to him not knowing where else to turn with my 7 month old puppy, Teddy. When I left my dog alone at home he would scream and howl and my neighbors were callling animal control on him. I decided to to a 3 week board and train with Brent. Not only can Teddy be left alone now with out crying and barking but he is so well trained. Amazing on a leash, always looking up to me for guidance on what to do next and can stay in one spot when told. I have so happy with the results and can’t to learn what else Teddy can do!

I came to Brent when my dog was a puppy, where he guided me through all the difficult puppy and teenager stages! He took the time to educate me on dog behaviors and psychology, and was there when individual issues came up to help resolve them. He taught me how to be in control (and not be controlled by my dog!), to train positive behaviors that carries throughout my dogs life. I highly recommend Brent!

Brent is an absolute pleasure to work with; and easily the most understanding, knowledgeable, and experienced trainer I’ve ever spoken to or had work with my dog. I have a very stubborn 150lb mastiff mix. He was difficult to walk, would bark and spaz out at other dogs, and would do what he pleased. After working with Brent for 2 short sessions I can’t belive how much his temperament has transformed! Brent has not only taught me so much about the inner workings of my dogs brain; but he also has such a firm grasp and intrecruite understanding of the K9 brain overall. Brutus walks at my side, he is getting much better around “distractions” as Brent calls them, and it’s no longer a pulling match between my companion and I when need Brutus to focus. I can’t say enough great things about Brent, if you’re looking for the best trainer at a very competitive price; look no further. Brutus loves him and I can’t wait to see whatelse Brent can do to further improve his behavior and help our bond between man and dog.
