Just gave birth here and let me tell you the service was A plus! Will be back the midwives understood the assignment the nurses Zahara she’s Somalian I think was fabulous the midwives all were amazing! I can’t remember the nurses that helped me deliver but Edna and another young lady who is Filipino American as well we’re super helpful during my labor it took 20 minutes because of the way they handled me and taught me how to push. Will definitely definitely be back here and recommend to any natural mother’s that prefer a holistic way of delivery. Also they have low c section rate.

I really love the dedication and commitment each staff gives to the patients. I pray they open a childrens hospital here, my experience for my child was very helpful and pleasant. They treat from the heart and it shows! Thank you so very much. God bless you all❤🙏On another note whoever they hire their security from should train their officers better. They allowed smoking next to the entrance and did nothing to provide a safe environment for the the sick while waiting to be admitted.

If you plan to have your baby here please be strict on your birth plan. These nurses and midwives are so unprofessional. They just jam their hands in you to check your cervix without even asking permission, try to leave you strapped to the bed and IV. Try to scare you saying your baby’s heart rate is dropping. Cut umbilical cord after requesting delayed clamping. Try to scare you into vaccines. Give you a hard time about taking your placenta home. In and out of your room all night while you and your new born are trying to rest to give your baby “shots” and check your blood pressure. Get mad and harass you when you refuse the shots and tests. Just so inconsiderate. The best part about my experience was the Lactation specialist by the name of Lily who helped me so much with breast feeding and was always on call for me

This is a decent hospital but definitely not the best. The emergency area is horrible. The nurses can be a bit unprofessional when all you want is to get properly helped. They kinda just treat you like trash and make you wait so long to load you with drugs and make you go on with your day. I gave birth to my baby boy here what I can say is this hospital is way better than St. Francis. I didn’t like that they kept trying to send me home while I had bad labor contractions and was 4-5 centimeters dilated. I did love how the nurses treated me. I had my baby New Year’s Eve and they were so nice brought me and my fiancé goodies. Apple cider and some fancy fruit it was a nice gesture. What I did not like is usually hospitals give you a 6 pack of formula bottles to feed when you need to but they would give me one at a time and when I would ask for them they’d deny it or take a really long time.

I have never had any complaints about this hospital. In January of 2018 I came because I was pregnant, they did everything they could to save my baby. Everyone was so attentive and concerned. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days. Tiffany (she was from Atlanta) is a nurse I will always remember. She was gentle and very carrying. I also remember the CNA Lanelle who wrote her number on the board if I ever needed anything. The doctor was very carrying as well.Anytime Im not feeling well this will always be my first choice when getting better. MLK’s cardiology and pulmonology staff have not only saved my life multiple times in the last 6 months, but are the best team of specialists I’ve ever had. They truly have the patient’s best interests at heart and do everything they can for their patients, including listen to their concerns and validate their fears without judgment, with limited resources at times. As for their ER physicians, Dr Ash/Ashe tried to send me home after I lost consciousness and my heart rate spiked to 168 from the low 70s as I sat up in front of him (at 23 years old), tried to tell me my partner should quit their job to take care of me 24/7, and only when threatened with a lawsuit did he listen when I said I was going to die if I went home. Turned out I was in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, had acute respiratory alkalosis, had adrenal dysfunction that required multiple IV infusions every week, and my post-Covid syndrome had triggered an underlying heart condition that requires me to be on 5-8 liters of oxygen. If you can make it past the ER doctors, you will receive the best care possible. Make sure to advocate for yourself!!

I was diagnosed with a UTI that had spread to my kidneys within an hour . Thanks to them I got the help I needed . They were the second ER I had been to in 3 days. The other ER( in a nice location) I had been to didn’t do anything besides tell me I had a mild bladder infection and that was it sent me on my way. People may judge it because of its location but after my er visit I may say it’s one of the top ER places I’ve been to .

I hate this hospital so much, I came in with upper abdomen pain and I was given multiple times morphine even though I told them it did nothing only make me feel worst, my head hurts now and my stomach started hurting afterwards. Im being discharged because theyre finding nothing in my results, Im leaving the hospital three times as worst as I came in. First time coming here and I regret it so much and instead they made me feel like I was only here for the narcotics even though I told them the on first shot it made me feel like horrible, I never want that painkiller again and then another nurse comes and injects more because I was in severe pain even though I told her it doesnt help and probably up the dose higher which had a severe side effects. This is the worst experience Ive ever had in a hospital, making me feel like a drug addict but I just wanted to know what was wrong with me, I could care less for the drugs just diagnosed me. Im even crying while still here typing this. Never come here for any pain cause theyll just accuse you of abusing drugs unless you fractured a bone. Shouldve just waited at Long Beach memorial even though they had a long wait time, I was just in severe pain but I probably wouldve gotten more sympathy at Long Beach memorial. These nurses dont care if youre crying or screaming, doctors are so mean and wont even hear you out. They do quick test just to kick you out in the end. They literally had me crying out for death for how their medicines messed me up. Id give it 0 stars if it was an option, but have to admit theyre quick on running test they probably didnt even do right. I came out here cause I was desperate. Im leaving now with a severe headache, weakness, extreme dry mouth, upset stomach, nausea and severe anxiety. This is the most heartless place to be, specially the doctor I had I kept explaining what it couldve been but he kept saying nope nope, test are fine youre fine. Now making me feel like Im crazy that my pain isnt real, now Im questioning my state of mind but I know what I feel is real. I rarely type reviews on hospitals but this needs to be said, Ive had better help in Long Beach memorial and Los Alamitos ER. I was just impatient on the wait. Now to just deal with pain at home and the emotional stress they caused me. My nurse name was Silvia so watch out for her and my doctors name was Cary Gallardo watch out for his attitude

If I could rate them a 0 I would. Doctor that attended me was not attentive to detail & when my Mother had called the ER she expressed to me how she asked for a translator>>someone who speaks Spanish & no one was able to assist her with her request. This is an ER which also this clinic happens to be located in a Afro-Latino Community. Where most of the residents here are Spanish speaking natives— in any circumstances; the person responsible for customer service in the ER HAS to be bi-lingual. Over all, I don’t think everyone working in the clinic has zero professionalism because I know that I cannot speak on behalf of everyone. From the experience I’ve had it’s been so so. Definitely will go to a different Hospital where I feel my needs are met & my Doctor/Nurse truly cares for the well being of the patient.

She was at Martin Luther King 2 days incoherent they said and was transferred to Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center where the nurse was so nice and took time to tell me that after the doctors ran test to find out just what is going on they will call me. If you are seeking treatment here, or at any hospital, you have to be patient, be prepared to wait, this isnt McDonalds, peoples lives are at stake here, you cannot rush the staff, you wouldnt want the doctors and nurses to rush through your treatment, why would you expect them to rush with other patients to get to you. A mistake here cannot be fixed with a free meal on your next visit, measures have to be taken for you to receive any type of treatment. Your treatment and medication has to be triple checked before it gets to you; dont come in with agonizing pain and expect to walk out two hours later. The staff is not only looking to treat your symptoms, they want to find and treat the root of the problem.

As I am pulling up to park, I receive a phone call from the office stating my appointment was at 8 and I cant come in at 9 due to there being an existing appointment. Now when I booked the appointment I was clearly and distinctively scheduled for 9 AM. I would not have accepted an 8 AM appointment because I drop my daughter off at 8.. 7:45 being the earliest. With it being the first appointment I was advised to come in about 15 minutes early at 8:45 to get a head start. Additionally I wrote the time and date in my planner as the woman was relaying the info to me during the appointment scheduling. So apparently they double booked and refuse to be adult and honest about the mistake they blame me , having me reschedule most likely because whoever the other appointment was for they showed up first so they called me to cancel my appointment or maybe a walk in that had been waiting. But this is what is to be expected from you ignorant people in the medical field. I will be calling to speak with a supervisor to find out who is responsible for changing my appointment.

I showed up around 2pm and didnt know what to expect. I was bracing myself for the worst and once I found the ER, I thought that I had been misdirected into the Los Angels county jail. My wife had to wait outside in a tent for security reasons and I had to be hand wanded before I could be processed in and allowed to sit and wait in the lobby.I had gone to my regular Dr. earlier but his office had reached its limit of patients for the day. Since two nights before I had been suffering from lower abdominal pains, so I decided to go see my personal Dr. And when that fell through, I looked up MLK. Surprisingly the reviews where mixed, I personally like to give people the benefit of the doubt so I usually read the positive reviews first. Lol. And people were writing about some of the positive changes that MLK had gone through, they seemed pretty convincing considering the physical state I was in. And if you read one of my previous reviews on another urgent care establishment in the city of Downey, youll find out why I didnt go there.Anyway, back to my review. My first impression was definitely something like what the hell did I just get myself into! There was a young gentleman that was pacing back and forth, talking with an angered voice, making comments about the staff. I do not know what exactly his story was but most definitely impressive to see the MLK security team in action. They quickly took the guy aside and talked him down. I could hear some of what they were saying to him, tactics like sir, anger is going to get you nowhere, but if you calm down and talk to us maybe we can help you. I was truly surprised. Is this the same MLK that I had heard stories about growing up. That people would die waiting in the lobby because of gun shot wounds. Lol. Maybe exaggerations but those are some of the stories that would circulate about killer King, as it had been known back in the days. After that incident, my perception started to change. I was promptly seen by a nurse who took my vitals and before I was done with her, I was already being called into another room to have some blood taken for lab analysis. Once I was done with having blood drawn, not even two minutes passed when the Doctor called me into his office. I explained to him what I was feeling and gave him some insight into my medical history. He explained to me what was to be done to figure out what was wrong with me. Then sent me to the part of the ER where patients were placed in gurneys and given their own partition. I was received by an RN by the name of Chantilly. She was friendly and very nice. She said that the Doctor requested a urine sample and told me that once the results of the lab analysis came back that the Doctor would see me again. I waiting no more than 30 minutes before the Doctor came back with word from the lab. They gave me some medication and another one of the Registered Nurses there explained how I was to use the prescribed medication at home. I left there dumbfounded. I could not believe how prompt I had been treated... not only that but the level of courtesy and care that I had been given was awesome. Everyone there looked busy, no one was just standing around doing nothing. If I had to use one word to sum up my experience with, Id have to say efficient.Yes, I know. Im laying all my business out here, but I like to give credit where credit is due. And in my opinion, this hospital is finally starting to live up to the great name that it bears.

I came into the ER very upset and got only friendly smiling faces, the nurses and doctors were very patient with me and explained why I was going through this unfortunate situation. I loved that when I came in it was very clean and I even saw how they cleaned the rooms after a patient left. I know its a hospital and its supposed to be clean but for some reason(maybe because there a newer hospital)this hospital is exceptional!!! God forbid I need to come back to the hospital, but if I do I will be returning here👍

Worst place to come for urgent care. I been here 4 hours, I came from work at 6pm and not it’s 10:30 pm just to see a nurse that has barely taken my vitals. I’m in tremendous paid due to a leg/ knee injury and they just put me in a room to wait for a doctor. No one has been in my room in over 1 hrs ( sorry I’m not exaggerating) the whole staff tonight is a disrespectful, and a damn shame they work in the medical community. Another patient complaint, asking for a doctor and they told her to leave if she didn’t to wait. As she left they joked around and made fun of her medical condition. After so long a went outside and asked how long would it be before I saw a doctor or how many ppl were in front of me and they said theirs a wait and completely disregard my comment of how much pain I’m in, I’m in a 10!!There’s only one doctor!!!! And like 6 ppl waiting in Separate rooms waiting for more than an hour to get a doctor. I understand when ppl act out in regards to the medical help / wait and the bad service received from the staff, nurses !!!!!! and the 1 doctors !

The worse health care in Los Angeles. The staff members seem no to care about the patients. With an appointment you still have to wait hours to see a doctor.

They did a excellent job, on bringing my mother back, after being found unresponsive in her home. One security guard on duty, was very compassionate, as we all were falling apart outside, and in the waiting area. My mother fought for nine and a half weeks but, sadly on 11/30/2016 while in hospice Care she died. We used to call this hospital killer king growing up. I now have had to eat those words as the ER doctors did a wonderful job with her. Even ICU was good with her. Thank you MLK.

Went to a local urgent care because I was having palpitations for weeks and finally thought it was time to see someone about it. Urgent care was useless and sent me to Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital. They were incredibly busy and it took some time to see someone but when I did it was nonstop action. Did all sorts of tests on me, they were thorough when explaining what and why they were testing. Very polite and sweet staff. Talked me through follow up check ups and what to keep an eye out for. This hospital is in a tough area but overall the staff was really sweet and caring which was what I needed after getting nowhere with urgent care.

I’ve always avoided this hospital because of the area but my first time here this morning was a breeze (fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle)... everyone was very helpful and attentive ... the only thing I did not like was the fact that they use a handheld metal detector before you’re able to enter .. I was so confused I asked the security why and he caught an attitude talking about“ do you know how many shootings there are “Butttt that is another reason why I’ve avoided this hospital and I always end up going to the marina ... but like I said overall I had a good experience at mlk and I’m happy I came in today because now I don’t have to go out of my way to go to the hospital

Worse experiences ever...4hrs there felt like 10. What kind of hospital makes people wait in a chair for hours as part of getting treated and no room for family member to be next to love one if they need assitance....and make family members wait outside In a tent where people are loud obnoxious and just horrible. The stuff looks like they hate their job always on their phone and give you rude attitude. Some nurses are nice but thats about it.
