People and doctors were nice, but incompetent. 13 hours waiting to see a doctor is also kind of crazy. I guess I should feel sorry for them. They really dont want to do much. They sent me home with necrotizing fasciitis, spreading to muscle and bone. Why cant they perform a simple surgery to remove diseased tissue? Why would I want to wait for it to grow and spread. I just called and receptionist hung up. They are not even willing to help point me in the direction of a surgeon. Terrible

WORST ER DO NOT COME HERE DOCTORS DONT CAREYET THEY SPEND SO LONG IN MED SCHOOL, ALL FOR WHAT -the worst emergency room I’ve ever been to. I dont remember the doctors name and she didn’t put her name on my discharge paperwork but she had gray hair, a bit long, to her shoulder maybe a bit longer, in a pony tail. Didn’t come in a white coat, she looked like a nurse. Blue pants & V neck shirt. She was working Friday night around 11pm to the morning at least while inwas there during that time 7/23/2021. She came in, did not observe my leg. I had venom in my leg, it was swollen and i couldn’t walk. SKIN INFECTIONS DO NOT GET THIS BAD. I told the doctor “i was bit and its been swollen getting worse”.. She just glanced at it, did not ask anything about my current health, and said “thats an old wives tale, i’ll prescribe you medicine and you’re good to go”. I went Friday Night - 7/23/2021I went to another ER and was treated way better. It was cut open, with venom, blood clots, dry blood exiting the wound… my leg was observed, i asked if i was able to feel certain areas, I was given a shot and prescribed antibiotics. THIS WAS NOT A SKIN INFECTION. IF ONLY THE DOCTOR ACTUALLY DID HER DAM JOB AT LONG BEACH EMERGENCY!! WHY ARE YOU A DOCTOR IF YOU DONT LIKE TO TREAT PPL!!!!WORST EMERGENCY ROOM, DO NOT COME HERE GO ELSE WHERE

I came to the E.R for a wound infection. The staff was friendly and attentive. From checking in, to getting a bed, receiving care..to being discharged. Thank you LB memorial ER.

I wish I could leave zero stars. I was placed here under a 5150 for more than 72 hours. Been trying to advocate for myself, set up therapy upon my release, and overall be proactive. It takes them so long to get any semblance of an update. Each of the female social workers have not kept it consistent with me. The male coworker advocated to get me evaluated as soon as possible. I’m waiting in limbo trying to understand what’s going to happen with me. There was only 1 nurse who made the effort to really fight for my release and once she was gone it quickly went back to the runaround I was getting.

I had a pretty good experience. It was not lightning fast but it is covid and it is an ER. We proceeded along the path from triage to nurse (with meds) to radiology to a bay to a doctor, procedure and discharge in about 4 hours. I think what helped was we are in the pediatric pod. The doctors, nurses, rad techs, er techs, all had amazing bedside manners. They answered questions, provided good discharge info, were bomb iv starters, and were universally pleasant and responsive. If you have to take your kid to the ER, and I really hope you dont, this is the place to do it.

Dont waste your time here if you have mediCal. I arrived 11:30 am for swelling. My MD wanted them to rule out a blood clot. I sat there until 10:30 pm and watched the waiting room fill and empty twice with everyone being seen by a doctor except me and more patients constantly coming in. The longer I sat there the more intense my pain became and I was level 9 for HOURS. Finally I realized that they were never going to see me and I left. So now I dont know what to do.

In ref to the ED They have their good days but they have bad days too. They do the least, that covers their a** so they don’t get wrote up they don’t ever have soap in the bathrooms “CORONAVIRUS” ppl But the staff in icu are wonderful they know their s**t and they use it to provide good health care for patients and their love ones.

My daughter needed to be treated I went with her when I got to the emergency room outside I called the nurse to ask for a wheelchair for my daughter since her stomach hurts and she could not stand the nurse was rude she did not give me a chair wheeland the waiting room is full of visitors and there is no where she will sit

Broke my leg in a motorcycle accident. Nurses, doctors, surgeons, and PT were amazing. Made my stay as least painful as possible and always kept me comfortable. Was out in a timely manner. Thank you to the amazing staff at LBMMC, appreciate y’all!

My daughter needed to be seen i went with her upon arriving to check in the emergency room outside I called the nurse over requesting a wheelchair for myself since I am in a cast the nurse was rude wouldnt get me a wheelchair asking us who is being seen I told her my daughter she ask whats wrong with you she told her I think have a kidney effection and she said you can not park here I said I know she letting me out and going to park I said I need a wheelchair I am in a cast she says who is it being seen I said my daughter she asks well how old are there she tells her age I said thats rudest my daughter drove me back home just because I wanted to go with her we had to deal with rudeness it was very unprofessional for that nurse to say that

The time I came thru an ambulance many times cause I had asthma when I got there everybody was nice and respectful..

I got there and took me in they have me waiting there 1 hour after the person that took me ask the nurses if they had already check me in and they looked at each other saying no that is ridiculous seeing the nurse texting while she should be asking people around if they been check in really bad

The nurses are really rude. Called several times before my dad passed and one specific nurse kept being rude and would tell me he wouldnt help himself when he couldnt think for himself!

My wife has been to this hospital forever and my girls have been born here with excellent service and external connections to other services around the hospital like ultrasounds, pregnancy classes, prenatal care, transportation, excellent cirgical services to newborns, diebeties services, therapy, counseling, nicu services and to top it off Ronald Macdonalds charity house was and amazing help in difficult times of my 2nd child i’ve owed a lot of appreciation to this hospital. Thank you very much!!!

This place is the worst place ever!!!!! The employees are so rude. Im here visiting from out of State and my baby is not getting better!!! I regret coming to this Hospital.. the nurse told me if anything let us know.. so I did and she told me oh shes okay. I see her with color shes not blue and not breathing! Awful waiting room experience. Horrendous wait times. Short staffed.However, I have to give an additional star because the staff is extremely nice and kind... when you finally get to see them. Not one bad attitude... even when mine wasnt that great.

Brought in by ambulance in excruciating pain. Got immediate help by caring efficient nurses and doctors. They accessed my records from another facility. Had all necessary tests to diagnose and treat the problem and was able to go home feeling much better.Would recommend the staff and facilities.

They have the worst security office department.

Our doctor recommended this place for a family member who needed to detox from alcohol. We drove all the way down there and they sent her home because she had had a drink earlier in the day. Imagine that, a person with a drinking problem had a drink. Instead of treating the issue like a professional they kicked her out and said, basically, return when you have stopped drinking. That’s like telling someone who is suffering a heart attack “come back when you’re better!”

I had to wait to get walked back in to emergency to see someone and it took over 20 minutes to get a security officer to come. She kept saying I called and no one came. They need to do better, maybe get more staff. This is horrible.

Took my son to ER. No complaints til nurse gave him a tiny cup to catch a stool sample. Couldnt catch a sample because the container was a urine container. The next nurse gave us the appropriate container. Gave the sample, they decided it was not necessary, so it went to waste. The ER doctor gave the wrong meds for diarrhea. They also said they would send the results of all the lab work to my sons regular doctor. 21 days later his dr still did not receive the results!!! Very frustrating!!!!

Went with my mother who wasnt feeling wel her primary MD sent her to emergency room l. We waited 5hrs for them to tell us there was nothing they can do and sent us home. My mother has medicare and medical. 3 months later was billed 2,000 dollars. Never going back again .

Went in to the emergency room and was seen right away and put into a room, i love the fact that everyone was so nice and the doctor assigned to me was actually listening to me and not talking over me, would come back here

It took me nearly 7 hours from the time I walked in to get seen by the doctor for complications from tonsillectomy performed at the same facility in the morning. Wear warm clothes and take water as the wait can be long.

The womans & childrens section and L&D are great but the er is terrible. Been here for over 5 hours. First they skipped over my name a few times for xrays to be done and that was on the fast track list. Now I have been in a room for a couple hours and no one has even come in to check on me for awhile except at the very beginning to ask if we want some water and a blanket. So in over 5 hours I hot an xray and no info or even really acknowledged in any other way about whats going on and I am just wanting to go and deal with this pain in the comfort of my own home

My son was wheezing So we took him to this ER. They treated it as asthma. They gave him steroids. He woke up worst the next day and I took him to Kaiser to find out he had Pneumonia and RSV. My husband asked if they were going to take xray and they said it wasnt necessary. Be very careful coming here. Demand an xray or treatment needed. Also turns out my son needed to be admitted to ICU and transferred to another hospital after Kaiser detected his condition. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE WHO HAS AN ASTHMA ATTACK OR ANY RESPIRATORY CONDITION. ALSO THE DOCTOR WAS SLEEP WHEN WE WERE EXPECTED TO BE RELEASED. MY HUSBAND SAW HIM SLEEP AS HE WAS GOING TO THE RESTROOM. Very careless...

This has been my 3rd time here and the first two times were good but this time was HORRIBLE i have been here since 5:30 with abdominal pain and at 12:20 they FINALLY passed me to a room which is actually a bed in the hallway and i am still waiting for a doctor to come see me. I am extremely disappointed at the service this time when the main reason we chose this hospital was for the great service previous times. Now were reconsidering our choice

They did not blood test me to see if my wbc count was high or low. One of the physician’s there doubted that i had an infection. They discharged me and i was not satisfied whatsoever.

I had to take my son here for a head laceration. The only reason he did not go straight to an urgent care is because the time of night...they were all closed. So, we waited. No big deal to wait. There are many dying and he was not one of them. However, while waiting in the waiting room, I listened with my young son as staff talked repeatedly about Schweddy Balls from the SNL skit while one couldnt stop saying Schweddy Balls for like two straight minutes. These are the staff members, not clients.Then watching the PA eating chips with her bare hands in the station going straight to rooms to provide care and back to eating chips without a single moment of hand sanitation was a bit gross. The worst part of the visit was the fact that they injected my sons head with lidocaine and IMMEDIATELY put in staples. This was a bit traumatizing for my son especially since I prepped him to assume that the shots will hurt, but then he should only feel pressure afterwards. Instead he got pain throughout...every stab, every staple in his 10 year old head. When I brought this to the attention of the hospital, assuming they would like to ensure their patients get better care than that, they basically sent me a letter after investigation saying Although the effects of lidocaine to act as a numbing medication occur within 1-2 minutes, we truly regret any discomfort (my sons name) experienced. Thus, communicating they feel it should have worked (despite not even a minute passing). Also, in my 6 years in emergency medicine, especially when dealing with a child, it is nice to check you actually numbed the area before proceeding. So, the worst part of all is that the hospital does not care to improve their patient care...which says the most. One person doing something wrong is one thing, but an investigative team deeming it unimportant if care was provided properly is quite sad.I just moved to the area, but will be sure to learn who the Pediatric Chairman of their ED is and hope nobody on the grievance committee have a family member treated this way.

Poor patient care!! Unprofessional and ill-mannered care

I saw so many negative reviews on Google about Memorial and I felt compelled to share my experiences with them. I have been there twice in the past 10 months and both times were superior than other ER experiences I have had. The first time was during the summer when I incurred a severe burn. The ER was fairly busy so I expected to wait awhile. I did wait some but still found myself done in less than three hours start to finish. Great people as well as caring on all levels in spite of how busy they were. My most recent visit was today. I called ahead to see what the wait time looked like and a friendly lady told me there wasnt anyone in the waiting area needing to bee seen. I came in right away and was done start to finish in less than two hours with no waiting. This including standard triage, xrays, administration of pain medication and discharge. Maybe it is because I have often worked around the medical industry off and on during my life that I do not have unrealistic expectations of service from my healthcare providers. Be a patient patient and understand that if someone comes in via ambulance or paramedics that their issue is more likely alot more urgent than those who are able to arrive under their own power. Understand that triage is the process nurses and staff use in order to prioritize who will be seen first not who is in line first. Thank you again Long Beach Memorial staff.

They do not care about the needs of their patients. Always packed because they do not attend people. Staff is friendly, but they have no urgency.

Theire ER services are the worst Ive ever experienced. Expect to wait over 6 hrs to see a doctor. Ive seen bloody people waiting to be seen infants with high fevers waiting hours to be seen. There been times where Ive waited so long that Ive actually seen nurses start and end their shifts.

My mother was taken to this facility after having what we thought was a stroke - it ended up being an anxiety attack. However the Care she received there was commendable. Dr Choi took time to respond all of my questions and the staff was very attentive. Once in a room on the 4th floor, the nursing team continue to show dinamism and sensibility. Even though it took forever to get the MRI results and other test performed, Tobie continuosly checked on us and make sure to be on top of any communication coming in with the results. Thank you Tobie for your exceptional service, we felt taken care of.

Great hospital but sometimes the wait can be long

This is the worst hospital I have ever had to deal with. Took my son to emergency and it took them 24 hours to get him help. Once in the hospital the doctors couldnt seem to scratch their ass without complications. Then when letting my son so on a broken hip they wanted to give him a walker instead of crutches. I had to say we were not leaving till we get crutches. Then they didnt want to give him pain meds for a broken hip. I insisted on meds for my son and the pharmacy took 3 days to fill it. Wow!!! I wouldnt go there again if I was going to die, because they would just help the process along.

This is a worst hospital I ever went to ! Got there before 4:00pm, until 12:00am midnight I still in the waiting room, didn’t see doctor yet. For the blood test, they told me would charge me over $1000 ! Is it a hospital? No, It is a Hell !!!

I was born in this hospital and they are the worst. I have too wait two - three hours to see a doctor plus they stop seeing patients at the age of 21, and they dont remind you about doctor appointments. I had to cancel an appointment today because no reminder.

We recommend you to wear warm clothes and batteries because you will wait for hours. Hospital outlets are also available. There was a Japanese interpreter machine and he used it. The hospital people were kind and nice. I felt very good. 24 hours so even after sightseeing
