In Massapequa (and Levittown) office I was fortunate to meet an extraordinary good ENT doctor Alice A. Kufs. I was surprised to learn that she is a Nurse Practitioner, but her level of expertise makes me call her a doctor -- because her knowledge and professional skills surpass that level. She is phenomenal: She combines the qualities of a family doctor of good old times with that friendly communication style - like a family member -and the intuition of a true healer (who can pinpoint diagnosis just by the color of your tongue) AND the high education of a contemporary practitioner who never stops learning and is always up-to-date. I wish my cardiologist and endocrinologist would be just like her. Patients just wish to have a doctor of this kind which is so rare in our high-paced digital time -- the doctor who could listen, who aims for the root cause, who takes into consideration the whole human being -- not just the symptoms. Its been so moving to meet the unusual level of compassion, of resonance. This kind of relationship develops deep trust immediately, and you know that Alice is with you for the whole journey -- with as many follow-ups as it takes -- not just take a pill and youre on your own.
