Some of the kindest animal-loving people in the industry. Until we recently left the state this was our go-to place for our pets. It’s hard to find ownership/management as conscientious and caring as Erin and her staff! We look forward to hearing about her newest venture in the crossroads!

We don’t board our dog very often and after a pandemic year in which our 7 pound furry companion has not been without us…. I felt particularly anxious. But I want to give well earned praise to Sydney’s for easing our anxiety. Every encounter we’ve had with the place is top notch. When our peekapoo, Ollie wasn’t eating as much as he should, they contacted us to ask if they could add pumpkin or chicken broth to his food to entice him to eat.No one wants to be parted from their favorite pet. But if you have to, you should feel good about your choice at Sydney’s. They are competent and caring. I don’t write reviews often. But I wanted the team at Sydney’s to know they’re doing things right. Thank you.

My pup has done both doggy daycare and also boarding services. Staff recognizes my pup and greets him by name. He’s always excited to go play. Staff Is friendly and professional and appears to genuinely care about the dogs!

I can tell they were patient and kind with my sometimes difficult 9 yo cat while I was away for almost a month. She is as happy to be home and relaxed as could be expected. Thank you ladies!

Sydneys is the first business Ive ever written a negative review for. My wife heard about them from a friend of hers in PTA and we gave it a shot. Weve taken our dog to 3 Dogs & A Cat for many years with no issues but I figured all groomers were the same.First trip went well, our dog looked good and the staff was friendly. Today when I dropped off at 10am, I was told Drop off was before 9am. Ok, Ill remember that next time. No, we cant help you today. I dropped off at 10am last time and nobody said anything. And the scheduler didnt mention it either. We will talk to her about reminding folks. I asked if we could still keep todays appointment and she said Youll just have to come back another time. I told her I dont have to ever come back actually, and I wanted to speak to the manager. Im the manager. It wasnt going to get better so I left.When I got home Sydneys owner called me. I wanted to talk about the mixup this morning. Wow, this is someone who knows about customer service. Our policy is no drop offs after 9am. Yes, I was made aware of that today. And I dont appreciate you arguing with my staff over my policy. !!!!! You called me up to argue with me? Yes and... I cut her off and said Im too annoyed to argue, Ill leave a negative online review. I dont care, Ill just respond to it and say you caused the problems today and were rude to our staff.Sydneys is a place where any mixup is the customers fault, and if you dont like it, the owner will *actually* call you up to argue with you. Ruby(cane corso) loves going there !She gets up with me and waits at the door to go.Place is clean. I have boarded her there, they called because she didnt eat her breakfast. They ask if they could give her some pumpkin in her food. Great ideal!I really how they watch after her.They let me knowing something not right with my dog. They let you how play day went! Great place to take your dog for play time while you are at work.Workers are friendly!

Sydneys staff is the BEST! We have worked with them for over 10 years for dog grooming, day care and kenneling needs for our bichon frises. Stephanie does an outstanding job on their grooming services- they always look just perfect! And the dogs LOVE going to Sydneys, which is the ultimate review - always excited, happy pups ready for fun at Sydneys.

The team at Sydneys demonstrate true caring and concern for our pet.He is older and has stress issues when going in for a grooming. The team helped define a path that reduced the level of stress and impact. We would gladly recommend their services to pet owners.

Cramped, indoor only. I wouldnt recommend their boarding services. I cant speak to the grooming because I took our dog out of boarding before her scheduled grooming appointment.

I took my two large, double-coated dogs there for a wash, de-furminate, cut. The absolute worst haircut I have ever experienced with my dogs. I doubt they even washed them. The cut is uneven all over, they just did a straight line at the tail, did not brush the undercoat at all (it is now coming out in clumps), and other than a very bad haircut, you can’t tell they even groomed them. The manager said that I could bring them back to get it fixed, but I won’t let them touch my dogs again.

We have taken our dog, Bob, to Sydneys for playtime, boarding and grooming. He can hardly wait to get there and scratches at their door if I am not quick to open it. He has been boarded and they have managed his rather complicated medicines perfectly. The groomer does a great job. I recommend them highly. He has been going for 6 years.

I’ve taken my dog to Sydney’s several times. They never disappoint! The staff is courteous and they take good care of my dog. Highly recommend.

Went for grooming because my normal groomer is booked out for months. I have a puppy , his 2nd haircut ever. I gave specific instructions and the cut was nothing like I asked. It was terrible. I did call later and they did refund me and apologize. I appreciate that, but i wont be going back. UPDATE: they never refunded . Just thought I would pass that along.

The staff was very nice and it was obvious that they truly love and care about animals. I felt very confident about leaving my cats there. When I picked up the cats, they were happy and had been well cared for. One of my cats coughed once and they immediately called me. This made me feel like I had chosen the right place to leave my pets. The prices were less than other five places I had called. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I am very happy about the entire experience.

I love this place! I am always greeted with a smile and everyone knows me and my pup by name. My dog requires some special care and sometimes acts like a diva when I leave him places. Sydney’s is the first facility that has taken the time to understand what triggers my dog and helped him to be comfortable when he stays. I’m so thankful!! Best of all, he comes home clean and happy each time he visits 💗

Great Environment, Friendly Staff, Easy to get appointments, even last minute. I use Stephani and she is Amazing. When I have been to other groomers in the past, my dog was always super tired and withdrawn. I always thought that was normal, but when I pick him up from Sydneys he is full of energy, playful and happy. I think it is due to the exceptional service, it feels like its not just a haircut but they treat the dogs with care and kindness! I have boarded before as well, and it was an great experience!

Where we go to get our dogs groomed. Very friendly and they do a great job with our pets. We have kenneled here a couple of times with no issues.

I believe our dog very much likes being boarded here. He also gets to participate in an open environment playing with other dogs. We only have good things to say about our experiences with Sydneys.

Very pleased with the experience we had with Sidneys, Everyone was very accommodating for a last minute stay for our pups. We will use them again, thank you to all involved in taking care of best friends.

If you care about your pet, do not take them to this place. I have only had 1 experience there and will never be returning. It was impossible to contact anyone online, via phone, or in person. I was told after the first day I would have someone review his first day. The staff member brought my dog out and she looked annoyed that she was even there. Nothing was said to me about him. And he is jolting out the door, I have taken him to daycare before and he has never acted like that, which makes me think he was treated poorly. I take him home and he has one of the longest restroom breaks as if he were holding his bladder all day-which leads me to believe he was put in a kennel majority of the day.

We’ve been going to Sydney’s since they opened! Our dogs have always been happy and excited to go. We have never had any issue or problem. That is saying a lot in the ever changing world of pet care. Consistency is so important for pets when separated from their family.

Sydney’s is the best! They care for your pets and their parents as well. Especially now their services have been ramped up to protect us all of the virus risks! ❤️

We LOVE Sydney’s pet spa. Their day care is top notch. My dog leaves happy and is always excited to go back. He is very sensitive so if they weren’t great we would know!! This is the only place we board our dogs and will put them in daycare.

Sydneys took great care of our puppy! We were worried hed be upset that we had to leave him there for the day, but they said after we left he took a nap and was very playful. When we called midday to check on him they said he was doing good and that they had been playing with him. When we picked him up he was happy and was worn out and went right to sleep when he got in the car.We plan on leaving him with them again next time we have to go out of town and cant take our dog with us.

Took my shitzu puppy here to get groomed. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and they did a great puppy trim! We will be going back!

Our Boston Terrier, Moose, cant wait for Wednesday mornings, because that is his day to go to School, AKA Sydneys Pet Spa! He gets so excited that he almost sings on the way there, and it is all I can do to get his harness on so he can go in to play all day with his numerous friends. The staff at Sydneys is so caring, and they know each dog by name when they come to play! So thankful Sydneys is just down the street and right next to where I work--wonderful, clean and caring Pet Spa!!

I love Sydneys!!!! When you you walk in the door you are greeted immediately with employees who truly care about your pets. The facility is incredibly clean and the environment welcoming to you and your pets. The groomers are excellent. Clean, well-lit and friendly dog care and grooming. They even have Sunday hours. Sydneys has a nice indoor area for dogs to play and mingle during their daycare. They are selective about which dogs play with whom.

Sydneys is so wonderful. My dog is very anxious and nervous, and I hate having to board her when I go out of town. The only thing that makes me feel better is knowing she will be in the loving care of the wonderful staff at Sydneys. They have gone above and beyond to cater to her weird tendencies and to make her feel safe and at home. The staff understand Ellie (my pup), and her needs, and they NEVER complain about her even when I know she has been giving them grief haha. Kelsie is amazing and so responsive and always makes sure that I am at ease when I leave my anxious pup. The owners are wonderful people with the biggest hearts. I cant recommend Sydneys Pet Resort and Spa enough!

Pandora goes to Sydneys twice a week and absolutely loves it. She comes home happy and tired, and we know shes received excellent care while at Doggy Day Care. All of the girls know Pandora by name and share funny anecdotes about what she did during the course of her day. (On a side note, while I was pregnant with twins and unable to haul the hyperactive pup into the Spa, Sydneys came and picked Pandora up, which was such a blessing!)

I took my dog here to be groomed for the first time, and that went just fine- the groomer was very friendly and he came out looking very cute and smelling good. I couldnt pick him up immediately after they called to say he was ready, so he spent about an hour or two in the daycare area. This was his first time in their daycare. I was really upset to find that when I picked him up, no staff were supervising the dogs. My dog had nobody to ease him into the daycare setting and make sure he was okay, and when I peaked over the wall, he was huddled in a corner terrified and shaking. There was also a huge pile of poop sitting in the middle of the room, and since nobody was watching the dogs its unclear how long it had been sitting there- disgusting and unsanitary. All dog daycares should have staff supervising all dog groups at all times. Wont be returning.

I absolutely LOVE Sydneys Pet Spa!! I have been taking Ellie (my chocolate lab) there since she was about 10 weeks old. She is now 4. I drop her off on my way to for about 7 am and have peace of mind ALL DAY!! The owner is awesome and is there most of the time. Her staff is friendly, knowledgeable and Ellie loves all of them!! When I pick her up after work, she is a happy girl! She has played all day (except for nap time) and I know she was well cared for. I can enjoy a quiet evening as she is usually tired. I do not know what I would do without Sydneys!! I also have her groomed there and the groomers do a great job. When I tell Ellie that we are going to Sydneys, she runs to the door with her leash in her mouth! (well, almost!)Ilene Katz

Hi, first off I need to say I am not one to write reviews. That being said, I was so blown away by this business that I felt a responsibility to share my experience with other pet owners to hopefully prevent them from making the same mistake I did in trusting these people with my pets. My wife & I have 2 dogs that are family. We rarely leave them when we travel, but the times we needed to over the past couple years we trusted Sydneys to take good care of them. Sydneys came well recommended by our friends who told us the staff was friendly & seemed knowledgeable in the business. On a side note, after our experiences & a negative one of their own our friends are no longer customers here either. So, first trip we left our dogs for a short weekend. Upon returning we were given them back in shocking condition. Both wreaking of urine & extemely anxious to leave with us. They didnt eat for a couple days & had several bouts of diarrhea & vomiting. We took them to our vet & both had to be put on medication to recover. The vet suggested it may have been caused by the stress of staying in a new boarding environment, so we accepted that possibility & kept an open mind regarding using Sydneys for another upcoming trip. Second trip was a week long. The issues that came up this time were that the dogs were again returned wreaking of urine. They both were ill, again. We questioned how they did during their stay & were told the dogs did well but had gotten sick several times. I asked why we were not contacted & the girl said it was because they knew how to handle it & it is normal for dogs to get sick during boarding. It was then I noticed how much food was being returned to us, roughly 3 times what should have been left for 2 dogs over an 8 day period. I asked why so much food was left over & she said they didnt eat well while they were there so they gave them the house food. One of my dogs has food allergies which requires the specific diet I had supplied for them. At this point I am furious & have to walk away. Again we make a trip to our vet & spend the next week with the dogs on medication to get them back on track. After 2 HORRIBLE experiences we dont return for a while but did use Sydneys for daycare when we were in a bind. Honestly at this point I feel quite ridiculous for ever returning & having to continue on with this review. We dropped the dogs around 8:00 & I made sure to ask the schedule for the day since this was our first just daycare visit. I was told the dogs were going in a kennel for a bit but would be out to play soon when the rest of the dogs had arrived. Now when we picked up at the end of the day is when our feelings on this business were really solidified. Our dogs were once again given to us smelling of urine, their paws & legs were even greasy. One had a hole through his ear plus a puncture at the base of the ear, which we unfortunately didnt realize until we had returned home. The next day was another vet visit to get the wounds cleaned up & antibiotics. I gave a call to Sydneys, which took multiple tries to get through to someone. I asked if my dogs had been any trouble & was told that no they were perfect & had a blast playing all day. I then told the girl about the wounds & she argued with me that they had even occurred while he was at daycare. I asked them to review video & she informed me they have no recording cameras in their facility & it wasnt possible for my dog to have been injured in their care. My wife & I begin looking at other facilities for future needs. We went to tour Sydneys so wed know what to look for as red flags in other businesses. Boy do I wish we had just done this in the first place! Its dark, disgusting, & very smelly. Everywhere wreaks of urine. The place looks very cheap & the dogs are kept in SMALL kennels with bars. The potty yard is concrete & the dogs are not watched at all. All the dogs are up too, which contradicts the schedule they had given me for daycare hours. Never take your dogs here. Ill never get over the guilt of subjecting my dogs to this place.

When I picked my puppy up they would not let me see his room. When I was insistent, as I paid for the most expensive room, one of the girls ran back and got him and brought him out before I could go back to see his conditions. He smelt like a farm. He came home and vomited for two days.I would not recommend this place to an enemy. They taught me in home pet sitters are comparable in price and I will never use this spa again.

THANK YOU so much for taking of our dog SKYY. SHE LOVES PUPPY DAYCARE. She comes home tired and worn out but is so excited to go every morning. We may have to start bringing her on Saturdays because she walks around looking for all her friends to play with on Saturdays and seems bored. Thanks again for all the wonderful care you give to our dog.The only improvement I would suggest is to make the lobby a cleaner, brighter and more cheery environment for humans. It often smells like wet, smelly dog which is unappealing to most. I would hate for someone to come in and smell that and decide not to leave their dog there because they believe it might be just as smelly and dirty in the back.

Great atmosphere fpr your fur babies

I would never recommend this place in a million years.We boarded our 2 dogs here while on vacation and had the worst experience ever. When we picked them up they smelled like cigarettes unbelievably and their dog toys were soaked in urine. Then, when we got the dogs home they gulped down water from being dehydrated. One of our dogs would not eat food unless we held her and fed her by hand for two days.Weve boarded our dogs other places before and have never experienced anything like this. I feel terrible that our dogs endured this place for a week.Do not take your dogs here ever....period.

I once again had my furbabies at Sydneys Pet Spa for 4 days of boarding, and also for grooming before we picked them up. Trisha at Sydneys was so very patient with me as I am a nervous pet mom and call almost every day checking on them and asking for pictures. Everything is always fine with them, and most of all, I can tell how my dogs react when I drop them off at Sydneys that they are receiving the best of care.

Ill be taking my pet back to Pawz at Play from now on. It seemed like Sydneys Pet Spa is yet another Leawood business that thinks that luxury equates to treating customers rudely.
