This was my first time going to Sonoma Family Dentist and could not be happier!! Everyone from the time I walked in the door was nice. The dental assistant, hygienist and Dr. Lason Barney were so personable. Even the receptionist making my next appointment made me feel so welcome. As a new resident to Las Cruses, I am very happy that I found this dentist!!

I have been a lot of dentists, but this one by far surpasses the rest. I have only been to 1 other that makes me comfortable and assured that the procedures and cleanings will go smoothly. I highly recommend this practice!

When I was told I needed a root canal I freaked out! All the horror stories I heard instilled fear in me. But, Dr. Espinosa laid all those fears to rest,he was gentle and made me so comfortable. He is an exceptional doctor. His assistant was very considerate,caring. She was so attentive and kind to me. She even brought me a blanket to keep me warm. SO NICE!! I need another root canal and I trust Dr. Espinosa will give me the most utmost excellent care. I recommend Sonoma Dental to get your dental needs performed and with care! Thank you Sonoma Dental!!

Ive never had a more gentle and thorough dental cleaning! Im returning and requesting the same Dental Hygienist. Dr. Akopian is phenomenal. He is gentle, kind, super knowledgable and caring. I followed Dr. Akopian from the University of New Mexico Outpatient Dental Clinic and have been seeing him for 3 years. I hope he stays here in my community! What a fantastic team I have who care for my teeth and dental well-being. I am most appreciative of their sincere kindness and professionalism.

Phenomenal experience. I thought it would be terrifying for my children but it was fantastic. The staff even helped by treating my kids special and talking to them and playing with them as I did the new patient paperwork. I was so scared to go to the dentist and hadnt been in 4 years but as soon as I walked in the door everyone was so nice to me and made me feel so welcome! The ladies who took my X-Rays and did my first cleaning were so gentle and nice and Im honestly not even scared about going back :) Im happy to have found such an awesome dentist office!

Great office! I have recommended to family and most recently a coworker. I just went for a deep clean on two teeth and was so nervous as I’ve heard horror stories from others. But my experience was quite the opposite. Cesar was amazing!! He listened to my fears and helped ease my nerves. He explained what was going on and why it needed to be done. I didn’t feel any pain! I highly recommend Cesar, he is a wonderful and compassionate hygienist.

I had a tooth extracted. Dentist did a great job. I felt zero pain! Antonio, his assistant, was amazing! He made me feel very comfortable and explained the procedure to me on a level that was transparent and informative. 👍

I have never been this relaxed in a dentists office. My visit with Victoria and Dr. Barney was a great experience. I hadnt been to the dentist in 9 years, so I wasnt sure what to expect. I was recommended to this location by my sister so I thought what the heck let’s give it a try. Well the girl at the front desk was very kind and answered any questions I had now when I was called back I let them know that I have really bad anxiety now going to the dentist I think that just makes you more nervous well the girls were like whatever didn’t really make things more comfortable it was like more rush rush cause I’m guessing they got busy since it was a Friday. I have to go back for a tooth pulling and hopefully my experience then will be a lot better

I have some of the worst dental hygiene habits in the modern world. Both the assistant and the provider were calm, they asked questions without judgment, made observations gently, and provided a care plan without condescending me. I had to have a cleaning, but they took my fear of pain, current pain, and current health into account when providing and didn’t over do it. I feel confident they care about their patients more than their paychecks here and I will be returning as soon as possible

Great great office! I’ve only been a patient since COVID-19 which includes completing paperwork in my car, a blessing with 2 babies tagging along My husband and I have had 2 cleanings with them so far, the wait was short and they were very accommodating when my husband and I traded off for our appointments with our babies sleeping in the car. I recently had a filling and had to take them in with me, they provided my daughter with a small chair and table in the room to play while she waited and a space for my baby’s car seat where I could see her. When both of them were crying, scared of the noises, Annel (DA) came to the rescue with a balloon and rocked my baby in her car seat! They were above and beyond accommodating and Dr. Narek was patient and understanding, especially with crying babies and with my appointment running past closing time! Thank you Sonoma Family Dental!

I’m leaving this review as someone who hates going to the dentist. The staff at this place are so friendly! Encountering rude people at the dentist always makes my anxiety worse, but at this place honestly they are so friendly that it makes you WANT to come back! I was seen very promptly for a dental emergency. I had to have a wisdom tooth extraction with Dr Akopyan and believe it or not it was an extremely pleasant painless experience. I am so grateful to have found this dentist.

When I first saw the folks at Sonoma, it was for a sort of emergency. I was very dental phobic, hence a mouthful of problems. After my first appointment, Dr. Akopyan and I were thrown together. Dr. helped me get over my phobias. I required a lot of work prior to the fitting of dentures. I got used to needles, one of my greatest fears, and learned to relax in the chair.To this day, Im still fine with dentists, at least with Dr. Akopyan. In fact, I saw him just today for a bone spur problem. We did everything we could, given my current regime of blood thinners. The problem is cured enough right now. In a month, the blood thinners will be done and we can do a little more shaping of the bone spur.Ive had positive experiences with everyone Ive encountered at Sonoma. A very caring, friendly, welcoming staff.Stop in and see them if you need a dentist. Tell them I sent you. I think youll be pleased.

This place is awesome! They are so welcoming from the front desk staff, nurses to dentists. Went in 1st fo consult for wisdom teeth and other stuff. Very nervous they made me feel at ease and answered all questions. The day of surgery they calmed me down by laughing, joking and just talking with me. Would definitely recommend for sure. I have switched my previous dentist to here and wont look back!!!

I have been a patient of Sonoma Dental for about 3 years; after relocating to Las Cruces 4 years ago. I truly like the entire staff at Sonoma Dental, including office staff, dental assistants, hygienists, and Dr. Bobby Espinosa. I have full confidence in my dentist. Every visit has been pleasant...well, if you can call crown replacement pleasant. I guess I am saying that even if you have a procedure you would rather not have, Dr. Espinosa and staff strive to make it as painless as possible. I had a great dental team when I lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I would put Dr. Espinosa and staff right up with any dental professional in that metropolitan area. Thanks, Sonoma Dental! Waited 1/2 past my appt and couldnt wait any longer. They want you on time for your appt, they should also be, especially when I had 8:30. Doesnt seem like they could have that many appts ahead if me. Will rethink if I want to use this dental office.

I’m giving it two stars because the front staff and the MA were really nice and helpful!! I personally did not like the dentist, he looked at my teeth, didn’t really offer suggestions for my concerns. just asked me to decide what I wanted to do and to call and make an appointment when I made a choice?? How am I supposed to know what is the best way to go with my teeth? I’m not the expert here, you are. Like, what do do YOU think is better? Don’t tell me you don’t know and that it is up to me! Will not be going back, will go somewhere else for future appointments.

Definitely made a good decision choosing Sonoma Family Dental. My first visit was amazing. They were able to schedule me within two weeks. I didnt have to wait past my appointment time. The staff and Dr. Akopyan were very thorough and took care of scheduling an appointment with an oral surgeon for the next week. I am truly grateful for their help and i can tell they care about their patients.

Everyone at the office was really nice and accommodating but I had to give this place a 2 star rating because I went in to get a dental cleaning and it was the worst teeth cleaning I have ever had. I left there feeling like my teeth never got cleaned and I still had plaque between my teeth. I have a couple of teeth that were feeling rough that usually feel smooth after a cleaning and they still felt the same after leaving. So basically my teeth felt the same before and after a cleaning. I am very disappointed with the cleaning that I got. Aside from that the staff are really sweet.

What a super friendly place! My dental tech was very nice and put me at ease from the start--thank you Brianna. My dental hygienist Cesar was very informative. I havent seen a dentist in quit a while and Dr. Ellis developed a good plan...both economical and not so painful. I recommend these folks!

First visit. Easy to schedule appt. Efficient xrays, exam, cleaning. Friendly staff. Clean atmosphere. I will schedule the rest of my family to be seen here.

I like coming to this office for myself and my granddaughter. However, today I left feeling a little put off. We were moved from one room to another. No apology for being accepted long after our appointment time. The doctor checked my granddaughters teeth in his street clothes. I think that is unsanitary given the current pandemic situation and unprofessional. The hygienist however was very professional and could answer all of our questions confidently.

Called to see if they accepted my insurance and if they did, would it cover what I needed done. As soon as the phone was answered I knew this wasnt going to be good. The phone was answered by a woman that spoke so fast and mumbled I could barely understand her. Asked her if they accepted my insurance and she said yes. Told her my problem and asked if my insurance covered it and she no. I continued to ask her if she was 100% positive that it wasnt covered because I was 100% positive that it was, but just asked for reassurance and she still said no. Well, I called my insurance and they confirmed they it was covered, but some places will tell you no because they dont want to deal with the prior authorization process because sometimes it can be a pain. Thankfully I found out now that they wont fight for their patients before I went and waisted my time in what seems to be an office that is incompetent.

I had a horrible toothache that got worse throughout the week. I called Sonoma Dental and they were booked for 3 weeks. But...the staff there did everything they could to get me in asap. I was seen by 10 am the same morning. Turned out I had a dead cracked tooth that hurt so bad I cried. And Im 50! Dr. Ellis numbed me and yanked that thing! Pain is gone. They are just the most awesome team and I couldnt ask for better service...anywhere!

The doctor and the hygienist, Patricia, were awesome! I will definitely be coming back for all my dental needs!

Went in for a consultation. MA was very nice and helpful. I did not like the Dentist and his attitude. He seemed as if he was not interested at all. Pretty much wasted my time and money. Will not be going back.
