5 stars does give this place the credit it deserves. Youll be surprised at what your body can handle. Women, we are powerful beyond measures. This was such a beautifully spiritual journey and I encourage everyone to give mother nature a try. Tesa you are amazing and I know after being in your presence that this is more than just a job for you. Spiritually, mentally and physically you are invested and for you I am forever grateful. Thank you.

VERY rude over the phone. I tried setting up a consult 3 TIMES, they would just not call. After I finally got ahold of the midwife she was rude and push my appointment back AGAIN. Ill take that as a sign to move on. Unprofessional and rude!

We had a wonderful experience with Tesa! We felt so cared for by her. She gave us so much information that we were never given with our first baby. She is knowledgeable, professional, genuinely kind and non-invasive unless needed. My husband and I felt extremely comfortable with her. We had a great home birth and we would love to use her again if we ever had another!

I loved my experience here! I was so comfortable and very well taken care of during my pregnancy. I loved being any to have 24hr contact with Tesa in case anything happened. Although I wasn’t able to give birth here due to high blood pressure I’m so happy I was able to have all my prenatal care with her! I 100% recommend this place to anyone in search of a midwife!

Tesa Kurin is amazing!!! She cares I have never experienced this much attention from my provider as I have now. I have always heard midwifes were awesome but i had no idea what i was missing. She listens to my concerns without rushing me out the door. She is very clean and safe and not over booking clients. I have been so disappointed by my obs that I thought why not give the birth center a try they couldnt be worse the them. Boy was I in for a shock I have recieved natural options for my prenatal care like natural iron. Suggestions on how to avoid UTIs.I have so many great things to say about this place and Tesa Kurin that I wont make this to lengthy but I have to share this. I was feeling really tired and restless she told me two simple things that changed my rest and energy. I am so blessed to have her and I recommend you give her a shot you will not be disappointed. 35 weeks and a few more to go I am happy to be able to deliver with her and not in a traditional hospital. Forgot to add she is always on call for you ever question that I need answered she makes it her mission to answer in a timely manner. I dont have to wait a week for a response. Thank Tesa Kurin for being amazing and caring!

Tesa was very professional and my wife had a wonderful birth experience. Having the whole office to ourselves was great and we were allowed to do whatever made us most comfortable. After the birth, Tesa jumped into action to stem my wifes bleeding and I was impressed with how quickly she got the situation under control. During the follow up visits, Tesa provided help with breast feeding and responded very quickly to any questions I texted her. My wife and I will definitely be using her services again for our next child!

Went there to give birth! Wrong decision they had no beds waited in the lobby for 4 hours in labor me and 2 other women in labor nobody came out to make sure we were OK finally. They had a called me back to check me the nurse was rude finally they put me in the delivery room that nurse was nice and so was Dr. Cheryl Profit the epidural doctor placed it in wrong so I felt everything. After my delivery I was placed in recovery and all of those nurses were extremely rude made me feel like a crackhead peasant when I have never even tried a cigarette and I dont drink! Im never going back to that hospital Id rather deliver my baby at home by myself before I go back there. When they gave my baby a bath it was cold and I told them to turn the heat up and she ignored me I hate those nurses! They werent even helpful at all the lady dropped my babies beanie on the floor, threw it away and didnt bring another one! I strongly advise you not to come here!!! Very poor professional skillsI called them for more diapers and it took them 45 minutes to bring them so I grabbed some from my diaper bag and the nurse was upset... Not one nurse was kind to me and I was polite to everyone even when they were mean to me

I had my second child here with Tesa and Bri, and my experience was exceptional! The entire experience from appointments to delivery were exactly what I wanted. I was able to contact Tesa directly if I had any questions or concerns and as we got close to our due date she would check in regularly. I dont know if any OBGYNs that have that personal of a relationship with their patients. I would look foward to my appointments with her to check in on the baby and ask her any questions without being rushed out. When I was at the birth center for my delivery I felt at home, she let my husband and I relax and work through labor without constant interruption. We had the lights low, music playing, I wasnt tied to an IV pole. She seemed to know just how involved to be; we never felt alone nor bothered and she helped me through the last phase of delivery with her confident presence and her reminder to breathe. Baby was born quickly and I was able to hold him while they made sure everyone was safe. And when I was ready, I took a hot shower to help relax me after delivery while my husband bonded with our new baby. The entire experience was magical and I would highly recommend AV Birth Center!

I wasn’t going to leave a review because I just wanted to move on from this bad experience but the experience just got worse because of Tesa’s carelessness. It’s been about a month since I stopped being her patient and I got an invoice from Quest Diagnostics, they were trying to bill me because she failed to correct a mistake in my date of birth that I told her about as soon as I realized she made it (days after I became her patient; I was her patient for 3 months so she could have fixed it at some point during that time) but she didn’t bother to contact Quest and fix it so my insurance couldn’t verify it was me since it did not match. But the main reason I had a bad experience with Tesa is b/c she became very condescending and rude towards me when I complained about the ultrasound doctor she uses, he was so dismissive, incompetent and an absolute liar since his reports constantly contradicted what actually happened and what he said to me and my husband. But Tesa just assumed I was lying or didn’t know what I was talking about. I had told her prior to my 2nd appt. with him that I wanted to see someone else but she couldn’t be bothered to send the other ultrasound dr’s office the correct referral information they required and so she just convinced me that her preferred doctor was the better option and I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and go back again for what turned out to be an even worse experience. He “found” something that indicated an increased chance of down syndrome but the thing is, according to my husband, he measured the fluid in the baby’s neck passed the spine/ passed the area he was supposed to measure so it was “very large” according to him (also we had Googled pictures of what a large NT measurement looked like before the screening and ours was nowhere near the size he stated); this left us very stressed for almost a month because that is how long I was told it would take to get the results of the blood test. I had to call the state agency for the results because Tesa refused to give them to me (I asked for them right after getting a letter in the mail from the state indicating it was positive but that they thought I probably already knew because she would have told me) this was a week after I told her that I no longer wanted to be her patient but before that conversation I asked for the results and she said she didn’t have them (around 2 wks after my blood was drawn). I asked the lady from the agency why it took a month for the results and she said that the results were sent to Tesa 5 days after the blood draw so Tesa obviously lied when I asked around 2 weeks after. Another thing is that while expressing concerns to Tesa about the large NT scan and how I wanted a 2nd opinion ultrasound from another doctor, she literally told me that evaluating the NT does not make the full determination and that the screening blood test would give me a better idea, except that the lady from the state agency told me that because my baby’s NT was “so high,” it “overrode” the blood test. Essentially I got blood drawn for no reason because it did not matter and the NT measurement was the only determination used to tell me that my baby had a 1/5 chance of Downs. Tesa obviously did not know what she was talking about and I should have gotten a 2nd opinion NT scan from a different doctor, as I had asked. I got NIPT testing from my new doctor and it came out negative so I’m not worried anymore and Tesa did offer this test but warned that most insurances don’t pay for it and I called and they quoted me $300 but my insurance did end up paying for it, they just needed to be notified of the finding. This is also something else that Tesa could not be bothered to do since I told her I was going to inquire how my insurance might pay for it and she scoffed very loudly on the phone and told me that going through the state program would be the quickest way to have it paid for. She also yelled at me asking “what do you get out of it?” when I told her I was considering an invasive test to know the risk of Downs for sure.

Earlier this year I used tesa for my first home birth and it was such an incredible experience. I started my prenatal care at 7 weeks and after that appointment I had no worries I knew I was in the best of hands. Tesa always gave me the time I needed and I was able to contact her directly 24/7. She is extremely knowledgeable is good at what she does and puts her all into her patients. When I needed to go to a specialist she even took the time to come with me. The birth was everything I could have wanted and more. The umbilical cord was wrapped around my sons neck multiple times and no body even knew it tesa was so fast she didnt even hesitate for a second. I highly recommend tesa if your looking around for a midwife youve found the best one!
