I was referred to Lancaster Family Allergy a year ago by my primary care physician after having an unexpected and severe reaction to a honeybee sting. I was tested and found to be highly allergic and desensitization treatment was started. This requires me to have an ongoing series of injections, starting out at once a week for a few months, then moving to once a month. All this to say I have dealt with this practice frequently in the last year. Everyone I have come in contact with, starting at that first visit with Dr. Fisher, has been professional, friendly, kind, and helpful. Twice I had to reschedule an appointment and after leaving a voicemail, was contacted within a reasonable amount of time to make the change. My desensitization injections will continue for another four years. If I wasnt satisfied with this practice, I would not have agreed to be treated here. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend Dr. Fisher and this practice.

I started treatment here when I was in high school. I want to start by saying that Dr. Fisher is a great doctor. She always seemed concerned about my health and making sure I got better. My issues are not with the doctors.I recently graduated from college and moved across the country to work. Naturally, I needed to transfer my care to an allergist out here. I received a phone call one morning after my new allergist had requested my records. The woman I spoke with was from Lancaster family allergy and she was rather unpleasant, to say the least. She was angry that I could not go into the office to pick up a new vial, even after I tried to explain how far away I lived and that my new allergist was willing to make new vials based on my records. She started to raise her voice after I told her it was impossible for me to return and that I just needed a copy of my records sent to my new doctor. Basic transfer of care. I signed the release forms. It should have been simple.Today, I found out that the same woman also gave a hard time to the staff at the allergist office here. Overall, I’m pretty appalled with the office staff at Lancaster Family Allergy. The treatment I received during what should have been a simple and normal process was reprehensible. And it’s embarrassing for their practice that this employee also gave the same treatment to another professional in the field. It blows my mind that they continue to employ a staff member who speaks with patients and other professionals that way.

LFA is good for people with minor allergies or seeking allergy shots but above that they can NOT appropriately handle care. As a nurse and mom, i asked many questions about my child’s food allergies and care that were left unanswered or did not make sense. Dr Fisher is a wonderful person and honestly tries to provide top quality care but after seeking a second opinion from CHOP, I learned LFA does NOT have a sufficient knowledge to properly treat, educate parents, or diagnose childhood food allergies. Additionally my child had 3 appointments with LFA and for each one the appointment reminder (call) was incorrect on what would be done at the appointment. Then took days for them to get back to me and report that I was correct and we were doing something different at that appointment. I felt I had to keep THEM on track with our appointments otherwise they would do something incorrectly for my child.I’m sure they are able to complete allergy shots safely and manage eczema but for pediatric food allergies, I suggest you go elsewhere.

I had such a great experience with Dr. Fisher and the help shes offered. I can see why some of the other reviewers thought the office staff were brusque, however, I have worked in reception and know how incredibly busy that role can be. I did not wait much at all, Dr. Fisher explained every process, and gave me helpful, easy instructions for follow up. I appreciated her help and the offices guidance.

My first visit was great. Getting allergy shots were a breeze. When it came to setting up a payment plan not so much. I have talked to Lynette. She basically told me I had to pay what they told me I had to pay. Called to speak with the doctor (She told me she had to get approval from the doctor) left 3 messages, 2 on voicemails and one with a person. Never got a call back. I have since cancelled all my appointments with them.

The doctors are nice but the wait for a shot or appointment is ridiculous. And the shot nurses are rude and always late! Instead of a 30 minute wait it’s usually at least an hour. Even the receptionist makes me feel like I’m such a huge inconvenience to her when I go up to the window to make a new appointment. When my serum runs out I’ll be quitting shots completely, have yet to find a good place

First experience was fine. Testing cost double what they told me it would. I set up monthly payments immediately. We don’t make much as we both work in a church. Anyway, second appt with my son and the billing lady tells me I didn’t pay enough and I had to pay $100 or leave and reschedule (it had only been a month since I got the bill). It’s been a hard month and I told her I could pay in a few days (already humiliated in front of my child) when we got paid. She repeated - pay $100 or leave and reschedule. We walked out😞 and won’t be back. So sad my son saw that. I’ve had to go to dozens of doctors/specialists as we’ve moved around a bit and I’ve never had one make me feel so bad and worth-less for not having money. 😕

Honestly I have become very disappointed with this place. I dont usually make reviews unless I am pretty upset. The first thing that has upset me is that you cant switch doctors at this practice. I understand it is family owned and small but every patient has a right to a second opinion, (its typically recommended) and I feel as though they are more concerned with competition than the actual patients health. I was told that switching could possibly cause conflict between doctors and complicate things. I also want to address the fact that the people at the front desk are almost never welcoming. They dont smile, they talk behind the glass door a few minutes before they will even open it to address you, even though they see you standing there, rather than letting you know they will be with you shortly. They just have never made me feel welcomed, more like an annoyance and I have experienced multiple employees at the front desk treat me this way. Even phone calls, which I am assuming is the same people, their tone and delivery just isnt friendly. As for the nurses who take you back and get you situated before you meet with the doctor, they have ALWAYS been kind and nice to me and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I have never had an issue there.I eventually decided to go to another practice just to get a second opinion from another doctor, since they would not allow me to there. When I asked for ONLY my patch test results they said I had to sign a release form in order to obtain it and that I would not be allowed back at their practice. All I was asking for was MY health record information. A copy of it... But because I said it was going to another facility and the facility I named they said its a conflict of interest and I have to sign it now. I only wanted to go to the other facility to try another doctor out, it was not set in stone that I was switching facilities, or else I would understand. Especially since they would not allow me to see another doctor at their own practice, I didnt see much of an issue its always wise to get a second opinion in any health situation.Overall I am very disappointed with how they seem more concerned about the competition aspect of things rather than the care and well being of their patients. I dont feel as though it is a genuine practice, which is very important to have in order to keep patients and make them feel as though they can trust you.The doctor I had met with was fine. Dr. Witmer I believe. She was informative and knowledgable, and answered any questions I had but I did feel rushed at times and that they were trying to get to the next appointment while still meeting with me. Allergies are a complicated thing and need to be looked at in different angles in order to find a resolution so I think they should reconsider allowing their patients to receive a second opinion at their practice rather than making it personal and making it feel as though its a competition.Patients well being should always come first.

I had no problems with my office visit. The staff are friendly and courteous. But just got a bill in the mail for a date of service from 2017. I guess the provider is allowed 365 days to submit a bill to insurance. And our ID number was not the same after that long. I called the insurance and they tried to sort everything out. But it’s been over a year and neither one of them could do anything about it. So we were stuck paying 155.00 out of pocket. The lady I spoke to with LFA was nice enough but it’s just infuriating that it’s my fault they waited so long to submit the claim.

Horrible horrible horrible its all I could say.I walked in there to schedule an appointment and the front desk person or receptionist... called megan wasnt pleased that she needed to stop whatever she was doing to see me; finally she open the glass door and ask me how she could help I asked I would like to schedule a new appointment and it was just so awkward a COLD ROBOTIC person who doesnt even show any care...concern,none-sympathetic, not friendly, doesnt smile... looks like shes having a bad day even though it was only 9:10 a.m.She needs a new job, where she has no interaction with human beings; her attitude doesnt belong at a doctors office at all. its a Pity because I followed this doctor based on the way that she treated me when I saw her some time ago; sadly theres always a middle person between the doctor and the patient which will make a difference, pushing the patients away; Terrible that a person like her its the first contact....

This practice is one to which I would give six stars. They are often double booked and I usually spend about 90 minutes there so bring a book or a long playlist or podcast.Dr. Fisher is 110% dedicated to my health. She always fits me in when I am sick. I feel like more than a number with her because she treats me like a person. She remembers my details without a chart. One day when I was sick and she couldn’t fit me in, she did a telemed visit with me on her day off. I am very glad to have found this practice. It is a hidden gem of a practice because both Dr Fisher and Dr Bitner will go to bat for you. If you have a young person in your life with asthma (or you have asthma yourself), I would be beating down the doors to get them an appointment here.

Firstly would like to say that I loved the doctors and staff there. However these people ruined my credit at the age of 18 because their billing & insurance department is inept. After I moved away they kept sending a bill to my old place and instead of calling and asking what my new address was or sending it to my forwarding address when the bill was returned to them they sent me to collections with no notice to me until I applied for student loans. I call and ask why I got a huge bill in the first place as I spoke with my insurance to make sure I had decent coverage. They claim because my insurance requires a referral and I didn’t have one that they wouldn’t cover it. I’m not allowed to even leave my GP without a referral notice to begin with so I told them they needed to dig deeper and resubmit. Had them update my address and contact information in case there was something they needed to bill me for in the future. Magically, the referral from my GP is found and they resubmit & get the insurance payout. So instead of correcting the bill and sending me a new one to my UPDATED address so I could pay it, they updated the amount they sent to collections and sent it to my old address again! Needless to say at 23 I’m dealing with the havoc it’s wreaked on me.

I was supposed to go in for an appointment today after a complete week off of my normal allergy medication which, when I do not take my regular medication, causes my asthma to flair up. I did my part, went to the appointment at the time I set the appointment, I reiterated the time, on the phone when making the appointment and the female confirmed the time. I came for the appointment today. Upon entering the office the “young lady” was shaking her head no as soon as I stated my name. I of course was shocked by her lack of professionalism, so I questioned why she was shaking her head. She proceeded to state my appointment was for later in the day. I then, since I was a new patient to them, with preexisting severe allergy issues questioned why I was to be without my regular medication, only because I had no one speak to me and was suffering very badly by this time, and it was necessary to use my inhaler. What a nasty tempered rude person with no consideration for a patient. She dismissed me, and was obviously having a bad day and had decided she would share her bad day with me. I walked out. I decided I was finished dealing with that rude (tone not what was said the way it was said, with the negative head waggle) person..... so I called, asked for the office manager, the practice does not have one ....... is what I was told so I hung up thinking I will speak with the doctor when I came back later in the day, for the appointment, which I suffered for over a week, without my medications to be there. Well I received a call from the doctor, on voicemail, stated that I was rude..... and that I called and was rude a second time and hung up. Last time I checked “May I please speak to your office manager” is not a rude statement, and if it is the doctor, I would not pull a doctor away from another patient because she has an unprofessional front desk clerk I wanted her to be aware of. I finally got a hold of the doctor. Explained the situation asked if I apologized (even though I do not feel it is warranted) to the desk clerk would they complete the testing, for my safety going into surgery. If they did not, it would delay my surgery which in turn can potentially cause me to lose partial use of my shoulder due to the delay. That is very serious, and detrimental to my health. The doctor repeated that they are a family practice and that I am not welcome. Physicians take an oath when they become a physician. The oath clearly states In Latin “primum non nocere” translates to “first do no harm”. I was harmed and offended. Apparently the doctor’s oath is only for some patients. They should be ashamed of their behavior. The front desk clerk has to live with her conscience, if she has one. And the whole practice is a bit over sensitive, and very disrespectful to the patient. At least the part of the practice I was dealing with........Pathetic group. I really do not understand how they get through a day. If I could give a lower rating I would. I went to a previous allergist and was treated as a human with respect. Here I was even laughed at because I was shocked at the clerks lack of professionalism. Reality is I am a customer, who was there for necessary treatment that I pay for, I would not recommend this practice to a cockroach, even that creature deserves better than the unprofessional behavior I experienced.

Love the doctors here and the nurses do a good job. The receptionists need some training in meeting the needs of their patients. Beware of Bonnie, she likes to hide behind HIPPA as an excuse not to do work. I called for a school excuse to be emailed, as we forget to get one after our appointment. She said that she could only fax it to the school or we could return to pick it up. When I asked if she could look up the number to fax it, she said no. When I asked if she could fax it to me, she said no. She stated three times “It’s HIPPA.” I told her that this office is the only doctor office we use that has this policy and stated I would need to call her back. She abruptly hung up the phone. Here is my issue. If she won’t look up the school fax number how does she know the number I gave her really is the school fax number? Furthermore, the school fax machine is a shared piece or equipment with any school employee or volunteer having access to it. There is nothing private about this. Doctor offices send our family emails after each visit sharing that we had a visit and request that we visit their site to review results. A school excuse shares no medical data so how is that any different than the emails we receive from other offices? These examples disputes Bonnie’s entire HIPPA argument. As the guardian of a patient, if an electronic school excuse is requested then it should be provided without hesitation. In addition, this is only the second time I’ve attended my daughter’s appointment at this office. The first being several years ago. Not one person asked to see my indentification before treating my daughter. If Bonnie and this office are so concerned about HIPPA, wouldn’t it make sense that they ensure all guardians show identification before a child receives care?A review in quality care at all touch points seems appropriate when considering our recent experience.

Dr. Bittner is absolutely wonderful. I have been suffering with bad eczema for a number of years. I was going to a dermatologist and shes only given me creams, and did not recommend I waste my time at an allergist. I went anyway because it had gotten so bad, and Dr. Bittner did a few tests to find Im actually allergic to a lot of things in my house including my two cats and dust. We are still trying to work together to get some contact dermatitis issues worked out, but she is determined!

Took my 11 month old for a suspected food allergy. Process was never explained to me. I thought we were allowed to leave as no obvious reaction was happening after 20 mins. Was checking out and the nurse came out and said she heard the doc talking to me and it sounded like I was allowed to leave but she wanted to double check. She came back out and said I was supposed to wait 30 more mins to make sure nothing happened. I sat down in the waiting area (wasn’t brought back to a room or told he would need checked after) and after 30 mins I left. I got a call when about an hour later with them canceling my next food challenge. Called and asked them why and they said bc I left before I was excused. I said I was never told the appt wasn’t over and it seemed like I was allowed to leave after 30 mins. They said they would see my son again but had to wait a month and then discuss with doc about me leaving. So unprofessional and they were trying to punish my son and I because their directions were unclear. Switched offices and so pleased with Allergy & Asthma Center.
