If you’re looking for an affordable but extensive training program for your dog - look no further. Our 6 month old rescue attended the online and in-person basic obedience course and after 7 weeks, she graduated today! She learned many useful commands for our daily life. Ted and his team are extremely knowledgeable in dog behavior and training techniques. Additionally, the classes were spaced out for covid protocols, everyone wore masks and I never felt unsafe. This meant our pup still got exposure to new people and new dogs which is very important as we are still socializing her. Thank you, Ted, Tiffany, Sara, & Rick!

I have been bringing my dog here since he was a pup. We’e done basic obedience and their Canine Good Citizen classes. We are now a successful therapy team. Not sure why the bad reviews state that they are not accessible, they 100% have consistently replied to my questions for the past 7 years. Also, the other review that stated that his GF thought they were using outdated techniques? Um… every single one of their trainers go to some prestigious training school in Texas and have extensive training unlike the petsmart crew. I specifically chose this school because of their use of positive reinforcement, not treat based or fear based. The cherry on the cake is their refresher course throughout the life of the dog, for 10$ which is perfect to shake off our COVID habits. Thank you Ted Terroux Team

I recently completed Basic Obedience training with our 10-month-old Flat Coat Retriever pup Annie. Ted and his staff are outstanding and help correct any issues you might have training your dog. I trained other dogs with Ted and his mom Sally when I lived in the Denver Metro area. My wife and I now live in Salida, CO which is 120 miles from Denver. When we got our new pup, I knew I would train her with Ted. I would encourage anyone interested in dog training to contact Terroux Dog Training. The travel time for me was a small price to pay for the training I received.

This is a great puppy program! The trainers are very encouraging and supportive both during class and when I had multiple questions outside of class time! They are very clear that their support is their for the puppies lifetime, which is amazing!

This was a great opportunity for socialization for my puppy, who lives alone with me. They sessions were a great combination of free play time and structured training, with continual moments of socialization mixed in. The trainers were very observant of puppy and puppy/human interactions, and had constructive suggestions when needed. And my puppy HATED to leave! It was great!

Training your dog is such a great investment in your family and the relationship with your dog. I love the positive approach to training and the psychological insights. Probably could double as a parenting class. Were continuing on with basic obedience!

I was a student at Animal Behavioral College. Ted was my instructor. I enjoyed it so much I went and sat in different classes after I graduated. He puts everything into terms everyone can understand. He covers so much and is there to answer questions and even show you if you just cant get it. Hes patient and hes just down to earth. I will always take my dogs through his courses. Everyone should attend at least one course he offers many. Try it I guarantee you wont be disappointed!!!

I first took my pup Molly to another training center and they insisted she needed private lessons because she was so anxious she wouldn’t be able to cope in group classes. After doing more research I found Ted Terroux. I really liked the training methods and my anxious dog settled right into the group class. She’s a high energy pup, smart but has a hard time focusing. Ted and the team taught me how to teach her and we just finished Basic Obedience and passed! We’ve already signed up for the Canine Good Citizen class and can’t wait to continue our training here!! I would also like to add Ted always makes sure that he is available to answer and questions. I love that the whole team is there to help you and your pup to succeed. I highly recommend Ted Terroux!!

Our dog, Rosie, just completed the basic obedience and puppy classes. Ted, and all the trainers are top-notch. All of them want you and your dog to succeed. They even offer extra classes you can drop in, if your dog needs extra help. And, at no charge! I highly recommend! Our puppy is still a work in progress, but she has greatly improved, and has her basic fundamentals. They also give you online tutorials that are really helpful.

The Terrouxs and their staff are wonderful to work with and offered individual attention to me and my dog in both puppy kindergarten and obedience class. Even years after, they take time to thoughtfully answer questions and difficulties I have with my dogs behavior.

Our pup had taken a previous training course elsewhere with adequate result. But we wanted her to be well mannered and also controlled for her own safety. We enrolled in first the Reactive Dog course and then the Canine Obedience with wonderful results. The instruction, guidance, and information you receive in either of these classes is invaluable. Our learning how to communicate effectively with our girl is really key to her success. While she was learning new words and commands we were getting important lessons on what we were doing well and not so well in helping her know what we wanted. I think she too is glad that we enrolled her.

Me and my husband took our 10 month old puppy to Ted for training. Our dog Zoe pulled like crazy when we went on a walk and she would listen every other time when we commanded her to do something. After Teds training we were able to learn how to train Zoe properly and get her to do what we wanted. They dont only teach you what to do with your dog, they also explain why you need to do what you do. We had a fantastic experience and would recommend these classes to everyone. My puppy completed the puppy class and dog obedience, were about to start canine good citizen. Ted and the other instructors give clear instructions on how to train your dog. They work with you patiently and hand over backwards to be available 7 days a week should you have any questions. Classes are organized and they dont waste any time. Highly recommend!

Our little monster just graduated from puppy obedience. We plan to drop in for another class or two before moving up into the basic obedience course.The facilities are clean and professionally run. The instruction is very much focused on training the owners, not the dogs. Were there to learn how to train our pup vs having someone train him for us.

Pretty good dog training! I was able to learn a lot in the beginner course. Also I was suprised how great my dog was. He was such a champ. It made me realise how good of a job i was doing with him already. This whole time i thought i was under training him but he was just doing so good. I have brought all of our dogs (4 so far, 5 soon) to Ted Terroux Dog Training for many years. Weve been through Basic Obedience and Canine Good Citizen classes. I live in Elizabeth and do not hesitate to drive to Lakewood for every class. I have enjoyed great success, the fun and very informative classes, and training techniques that are incredibly effective and positive. I honestly would not go anywhere else. I find it sad that someone would post such a negative review with no facts to back it up. People in this type (or any type) of business should be supportive of each other and encouraging. Ted, Tiffany, and crew, youre the best in my book and are a class act. I hope people reading this will disregard the negative and concentrate on the positive. And I am not a paid spokesperson. ;-)

I started 20 years ago with Sally Terroux and am now with Ted with my new crazy shepherd puppy! We have been through 3 classes, very informative and they have been so extremely helpful and patient, the whole staff! We continue to learn and plan on more classes in the future. I say start your pup early and attend classes at Terroux.

I just need to say that Ted Terroux is the best. Years ago, we got a wonderful dog who turned out to be very aggressive. Ted helped us create a home where Tripper could learn to be a well-adjusted dog. We just got a rescue and went to see Ted yesterday to make sure that we were doing everything that we can to help Louie join our family. Again, Ted was outstanding. He loves dogs. He loves to help people love their dogs. His approach is loving and positive. You will love Ted. Hes the best.

As you all know, Ted and his team do a fantastic job training the humans! These training sessions have helped our family tremendously, we are now all on the same page and I was even able to get my husband to let the pup sleep in our bedroom!:) I highly encourage the whole household go to the training though, it makes the training process easier. A huge perk is that once you have completed training, Ted and his team will still be around for help! We will continue to take our pups to Ted, as long as they are around!

Cant speak highly enough of this business! Friendly and knowledgable staff has helped us train 4 dogs now. We are currently in their puppy class but enjoy the basic training class and had a lot of fun in the good citizen class.If I ever have a question about something, even when Im not enrolled in a current class, theyve been helpful in answering it. I had a dog who was attacked by another dog years ago and Ted was helpful providing advice on handling the situation.

Super legit. Established company. Ted has more credentials than most in Colorado. Do your research on local companies before entering your dog in their training programs.

These guys know what theyre doing and gave us the tools we were lacking to train our new dog. They dont use force or fear tactics, instead they helped us understand our dogs behavior and taught us how to redirect it. They have a variety of classes to choose from at very reasonable rates. Dont waste time or money anywhere else!

Ted and team are hugely fantastic! I had never taken a dog to training before and with his 90 minute Reactive dog class, I learned so much! It was hugely valuable to me and my pup. My dog understands what I want her to do, I’ve been able to break her of barking at the neighbors dog thru a fence, she walks on a leash like a dream, and we both so much happier for it. I’d give Ted and Team 20 stars if I could.

Exceeded all expectations!

Very positive and very pleased. We had our dog in training when he was a puppy but at laxed at maintaining and he became aggressive with other dogs on walks. In one session with Ted he immediately got him back on track. I took him on a walk after the training and he wasnt even concerned with other dogs. I left with tools that will help us not get into the same situation. I will be back for lessons to reinforce the positive structure and training.

Through the years I have gone to many dog obedience classes with the many dogs I have owned and Ted Terroux is by far the best. His knowledge of dog behavior and training is thorough and excellent. I was very impressed with his classes. He was able to teach me how to train dog aggression out of my older male dog and I use many of his techniques on a everyday basis. I recommend him to anyone who owns a dog, puppy or older.

I really appreciate the training that Ted and his team provided me and my dog, Tyson. We attended an Anger Management (reactive dog) class and then moved into the Basic Obedience 7-week training course. We received not only the regular foundation training, but also many tips specific to our dogs behavior and training needs. I have noticed significant improvement, and we already have a better and less-stressful relationship with our dog. It was also easy to see how other dogs in our class improved throughout the course. Dog training takes a lot of work, and I highly recommend Ted and his Canine College to help. He has been in the biz for a long time and knows what hes talking about. My current great dane went all the way thru puppy training to passing her CGC (canine good citizen) at this place. Everybody working there are dog whisperers to some degree. Teds family has been doing this for many years and it definitely shows. I will be taking my next dog there when I get them.

If youre reading this review instead of just looking at the stars then you want some details. So heres the specifics on the basic obedience class: NO shock collars, behind-the-shed-beatings (even though he understands when/why you might want to) and VERY little expressing dominance. Ted and his assistants teach you how to teach your own dog based on decades of experience on what usually works, then watch you do it, helping you tweek it specific to your dog until your dog gets it FROM YOU.
