I called yesterday because of a tooth ache I had over the holiday July 4, 2021, holiday and was able to visit with the dentist the same day due to the pain I had. I was very happy to know that an accommodation was made for me. The dentist was very nice and professional and explained everything to me. The same goes for the staff I spoke with when I called in the morning and later upon my arrival at the office. Dr. Johns is an exceptional dentist and treat me like a family member. I would highly recommend him to anybody out there looking for a good reliable, accommodating, and efficient dentist.

WANTS YOU TO DO PROCEDURES YOU DONT NEED, IS NOT PERSONABLE, AND ASKS INAPPROPRIATE QUESTIONS. All I can say is thank God my insurance plan is up with them. To start, Dr. Johns is not personable at all. At my last visit, he asked me “is this your first time in here?” and I answered “no sir, I’ve been coming here for 15 years.” That’s pretty bad to not recognize a patient who has been coming to you for 15 years. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked past him in public and him not even recognizing me or saying hi to me, I don’t care if he can’t remember my name (with as many patients as he has it would be impossible to do that) but a simple hello to a loyal patient should be a common courtesy. Another issue I had with him is one time I told him there was some glue stuck to my back molar from when I had my braces that the orthodontist didn’t get off. He said “that’s an enamel pearl” and scheduled me to have a dental procedure. When I went in for the procedure, as they were getting ready to give me the numbing shot, he looks at it again and goes “this is glue from braces, why are you here for an enamel pearl removal?” EVEN THOUGH I TOLD HIM THAT THE LAST TIME!! He shaved some of the glue off but still didn’t get it all, so the next time I went in and told the hygienist about it and she finally got the remaining glue off. He seems like the type of dentist to always want to find something wrong so he can make more money, the last time he said my orthodontist didn’t do a good job with my braces though my teeth are straight and I was very pleased with the results (he had also never commented on my ortho’s work before). Lastly, a mentor of mine said she also went to Dr.Johns and he was asking her inappropriate questions about why her dad left a church to go pastor somewhere else WHILE HE WAS WORKING ON HER TEETH and asking her where her dad was. Save your time, money, and energy and don’t go here

Dr. Johns and his staff are always welcoming and make me feel good even though I hate going to dentist. His hygienist and X-ray technician are gentle but through. I paid thousands of dollars to correct dental issues before I met Dr Johns. None of it worked. He helped me correct those issues with some simple common sense solutions. He is a strong believer in promoting good health and I don’t always do that very well. But, he doesn’t fuss about it or make me feel guilty. He is the best dentist I’ve found and I am 69. His prices are reasonable and I trust him not to suggest expensive upcharge procedures that I don’t require. When I have an issue he is clear and straight forward about the solution. I hope he never retires in my lifetime.

I been going there for years they’re all friendly very very friendly Dr. John’s is very good , explains exactly what he’s going to do and If I need to be numbed more he has no problem doing it .now maybe I’m too sensitive but at the same time this could be said by anybody and this will slightly slightly offend me ,not saying that they did anything wrong or on purpose or anything but when I had to find out how much my procedure was going to be, first he said well you know you need to get it done I’m like yeah that’s a lot of money ,But if you don’t then this will happen so forth and so on and he walked away made me feel like OK I’m sorry I don’t really have the money. when I go out to the front and they run my insurance and it’s cut down Way more than half but still a A bit expensive for me everybody’s lifestyle is different I can’t just pop up with that but when somebody says well it’s definitely not paying the full amount of such and such you’re only paying that out I’m thinking OK why don’t you pay for me it’s not that easy I don’t like when people make money sound like it shouldn’t be that hard for you to get even if you get a discount price everybody’s lifestyles different. So that’s the only thing that got me I know they didn’t mean intentionally they weren’t being rude but it does bother me if somebody straight tells me well it’s only, yeah, only for you but not for me that just rub me the wrong way other than that there’s still five still five all the way I even try to refer people

I switched dentists. This guy is very strange. He wouldn’t see me and turned away my scheduled appointment because I had my second Pfizer COVID shot 24 days prior to my appointment. Anyone who understands science should know this shot isn’t a live virus and doesn’t make his patients a threat to his staff. He actually believes getting a COVID vaccination makes you dangerous to his staff. I don’t trust a doctor, even if he is just a dentist, if he doesn’t understand how vaccines work. After 15 years of seeing him, I said adios. It was a wasted trip and gas is expensive right now.

Saw Dr. Johns today to reseat a crown that came loose last night. I left a message last night and they called me as soon as they opened and got me in this morning. It was fast and a very reasonable cost. I fell in the garage about a year ago and cushioned the fall with my face. I broke off two front teeth. He was able to repair them for less than $200 like new. (Most dentists would have seen $$$ signs and insisted on crowns). He is scrupulously honest and of the highest integrity. He tries to provide affordable professional dentistry and takes several dental insurance and discount programs that are a few $ a month through various providers. His staff is very stable and I like all of them. They are always nice Dr. Johns is the only dentist Ive ever known to give a patient his cell phone number when my wife was in pain with an abscess. He cares deeply about his patients and is very compassionate. He is also no nonsense and I like that. I also like that he doesnt jump to the most expensive solution when I have a problem. I hope he never retires because it will be impossible to ever replace him.

I have gone to this dentist for years and honestly I really like him personally and all of the hygienists. They do a great job, are punctual, and the price is reasonable for someone with no insurance. On this last visit however I was very disappointed to overhear Dr. John’s discouraging a woman from getting her Covid-19 vaccine and speaking of the pandemic as if it was false and simply a pretext for medical personnel to make money. It is incredibly irresponsible for someone who is a medical professional to discourage people from getting a free vaccine to stop a worldwide, deadly pandemic. He spoke about it being overblown. I’ve know people who have died of COVID, who almost died from it, and many people who became very ill from it.So, I just feel torn. I have appreciated going to DDS for years but am considering whether I should support a person who is actively persuading people (with fliers and pamphlets even) from getting the shot that might save them. I also think a dentist really has no business weighing in on respiratory matters.

I called ahead to see what a teeth cleaning would cost and scheduled an appt for that so I could budget the cost. After the cleaning and (having no problem with my teeth), they told me the dentist would be right in. But they failed to mention that it would be double the amount I expected to pay to see the dentist for 10 minutes. I just didn’t like that they slipped that in without telling me that wasn’t part of the visit and then just charged me for it. The woman at the front desk was busy texting for a couple minutes before she realized I was standing there to check in for my apt, and never apologized for making me wait up there so she could finish her personal matter. I really like Dr.Johns, he is experienced and precise. Have enjoyed him through the years but won’t be back after that last visit.

My entire family visits this Office and have had one of the best experiences ever. My wife has extreme anxiety with dentists and was completely fine with their team. I have had many poorly placed fillings from the military removed and repaired by Dr. Johns, and been able to be back at work an hour later at a phone support desk! I have even had a Wisdom tooth pulled and was back at work 2 hours later with no issues! Amazing work, staff, and facility.

I hate that they have all these anti-aging products sales things put up everywhere. The dentist apparently owned stock in Nerium so every room especially the waiting room is stocked with sales flyers a banner and even a commercial that plays over and over. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DENTISTRY!The front desk clerk didnt even acknowledge i was there the many times Ive been. Wait time is average . The dental hygienist is nice the dentist is ok does a good job .

So bad with children. Not just tolerate him kind of bad-he isnt kind. All three of my kids are very well behaved. He has no bedside manner and is overbearing. I approched him about it so we could stay as patients and he stormed out of the room. I do give him this(and I told him this) He is very good in his work. His staff even told me he had a horrible temper. Too bad since he does have talent. I will never forget telling him it was my daughters first time the dentist, dismissing me, then hearing him talk about us to the next patient when we went by the room next to us to leave.

This dentist is possibly one of the worst in Knoxville. I was informed that my son had two cavities during a check up and scheduled an appointment to have them fixed. On the day of the appointment we had a family emergency and was unable to attend the appointment. I wanted to re-schedule which they were fine with but wanted to charge me $40.00 to cancel the appointment. I had no intention of paying that as I was in the middle of a family emergency and they had no sympathy at all. Now I have been harassed by bill collectors and they have even went as far to bring this to my workplace threatening legal action. If you are looking for an honest dentist I would look elsewhere because this dentist is a crook.

Yesterday, May 30, 2013, I had a crown put on a molar (metal covered with porcelain). Dr. Johns had some problem fitting the crown and drilled off half the porcelain on the top so that the metal is showing. He did not tell me about that and I discovered it when i got home. I called him this morning to talk with him about it and he hung up on me! I talked very nicely to him, but he was angry. If you have a choice, dont go here.
