Billing is a nightmare. I cant even understand the weirdness that happened two years ago regarding our messed up billing issues. I was fine to pay up front so I could get the discount and just go along as if we had no insurance. But they insisted our insurance would work. Got a bill for $1000 8 months later. Thankfully, they worked with me and allowed me to pay them as if I had just paid up front, out of pocket (I knew we were out of network, but again, they insisted we were fine). Hilariously, I received a refund for like $200 a few months later. At our next appointment the following year, same song and dance. Oh we take your insurance now, we promise! I have received notifications from our insurance that they didnt cover our visit and we should receive this astronomical bill again. Have yet to receive it so I am letting it go. Its been almost a year now. I have no idea what the office or billing department is doing. They have always been nice, its just kind of a hassle to figure it all out and I always feel paranoid Im going to get some crazy bill out of nowhere. The doctors we have seen (Dr. Mekour is now gone) have all been great. I have no complaints in that area. I wish they could figure out their billing issues. This seemed to not be a problem until 2019. We moved out of the area and will not be back for that reason, but I was always dreading the appointments because of the billing confusion.

Their billing contractor is horrible and the managers of the Eye Care center do not care if mistakes are made. This was the worse experience I have had with a service. They billed me for an annual visit instead of using the free visit and then I had to spend several hours across 5 different phone calls. After months of arguing they fixed it but still sent me a $61 transfer fee. At every turn the Eye Care center would not call them and would not cover anything. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!!!

I was trying to book an appointment with Dr. Epley with another doctors referral. The first time that I called, the front desk wouldnt even let me book an appointment because she hasnt received the referral. So I waited over the weekend and called again on Monday. Then on Monday morning, she said that she still hasnt received the referral so I was pressing her to let us book the appointment first and well surely get the referral to her as soon as possible. She was quite reluctant in the beginning until I got mad at her, then she told us that Dr. Epley has no availability until 3 months later. This is terrible.

Amazing doctor, my kids are doing better and better with their eyes, he is a gentleman and always nice, just to say, the lady in the glasses store is bitter and rude, making comments out of line, I just wanted to buy some pair of glasses, nothing else, you don’t have to tell me what is my job as a mother, I am sorry that you hate your job, and you know... someone else would be very happy to replace you.

Dr. Epley is great! He has been my childrens optometrist for over 6 years, back when he is the owner of the practice. He is very knowledgeable and great with kids, he gets solid 5 stars.Sadly, the front desk is a whole different story.Shy of being rude, the front desk employees never failed to make one feels unwelcome. This is definitely not because of pandemic and the office trying to social distance, as it had consistently been so.My son had to see Dr. Epley more than once this past year which insurance only covers one visit/calendar year. I am left with a $615 bill for each subsequent visit. I had communicated with their manager to see if the upcoming appointment can/should be billed as an annual to which their office manager, Ms. Crews responded via email that it is indeed annual wellness exam. At our time of appointments, we were told my son was there for recheck and my daughter a wellness. Both kids appointments were eventually changed to annual examination after some back and forth. It is disappointing and frustrating on the lack of communication within the office. Thankfully, all is documented via email or it could becomes a he said she said what situation. Many years ago, back when my son was 8 (he is now almost 15), we bought his first pair of glasses from the clinic itself. My 8 years old was sold a pair of titanium glasses, we were told thats the best for active boys. The co-pay after insurance was almost $700. It would have been great if it works the way we were sold/advertised - BEST, but it kept getting bent. We had to bring in back numerous times to have it adjusted. The optician/lady (not sure if she still works there) was really blunt and each time my 8 years old received multiple scoldings from her, to the point that he became afraid of wearing glasses! The last straw came when he lost the rubber nose piece and was just terrified, I had to go without him. To this day, he hustle to the waiting area bypassing the optical department and still refers the lady as the angry shop keeper. We will continue to go back solely because of Dr. Epley.Yes, I can completely echoed the other reviews of the Front desk.

Buying glasses here means enduring an abrasive, gruff, and STRICT process. I’m lookin at you Louisa. (Example, even though we were literally the only people in the room we were told we would not be seen until we put our name down on the sign in sheet.) At our last visit they had a sign up saying “you’d better be nice to us and do exactly what we tell you to do or we won’t service you”. Ok. It didn’t say that. ;-) I’ve attached a picture of the sign. I think it speaks to the vibe of this office.Because the doctors really are great, In every other aspect they get away with extremely subpar customer service.Overall, it’s an uneven experience: the doctors are amazing BUT the MA’s always seem rushed and curt.Doctors are very knowledgeable BUT boy are you going to pay for it. ($600 for an exam.)The waiting room is hands down the best medical office waiting room for kids I’ve ever seen. BUT there are a lot of signs saying what you can and can not do.Will I continue to take my son there? Absolutely. Will I buy glasses there anymore? Not a chance.

Doctor Epley is amazing! He’s been so great with care, knowledge and his calm manner. He did surgery on my 2 year old during the pandemic and was so great through the process. My son’s eyes are so much better and we can’t wait to keep seeing him as they continue to correct.

I have been taking my daughter here probably about 2 years. They have always been kind. From front staff to the eye doctor (Heidar is who we see) they also get you back to your room really fast. I have never waited more than 10 minutes. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a new eye doctor for their child.

This place seems to be running a scam. I called to schedule an appointment with them and the first available appointment was about 2.5 months later. So I took that appointment.I received no confirmation for the appointment Fast forward 2.5 months later, I received no reminder calls or texts. On the day of the appointment, I called to ask them when my appointment was as I remembered it being the following the day. They told it was at 9 that morning and I had missed. I told them that I received no reminder calls or texts and they said sometimes their system doesnt work. They proceeded to help me reschedule the appointment 2 weeks later. Again, I received no reminders but this time I had added it to my calendar so I made it. About a few days after the second appointment, I received a bill from them about a no-show fee for missing their first appointment. Note they had not mentioned this fee at all any time during the process of making this appointment or rescheduling this appointment. If they would have done so I would have asked the doctor about this. When I called the billing department, they refused to do anything to help me and the lady rudely replies that it is my responsibility to keep appointments and not rely on the automated reminder system. They also refused to direct my call to the doctor or provide me any means to get in touch with the doctor, obviously so that I am unable to voice my complains.I have never heard of any place where they make appointments 2-3 months down the line and expect the person to remember and then charge a no-show fee. Secondly, why was this no-show fee not mentioned anytime during the initial appointment call or the reschedule call. Thirdly, why as a patient I cannot talk to the doctor unless I make an appointment and have to deal with rude staff. Fourthly, I had to wait for about 45 minutes to see the doctor with my baby. I am a working parent and had taken time off work. Why can I not charge my hourly rate for waiting to see the doctor even after taking the appointment? This is an unfair practice and it surely reflects on the doctors if their patients are treated unfairly even if it is by their staff.

Yikes. We had been coming here for years, and put up with the rude and frequently-confused front office, because Dr. Epley is indeed a good childrens ophthalmologist. The front office has always been a mess, with hours-long waits, super short cancellations, and just general ineptitude.Today, we called to schedule our twins for a checkup, as always. The front office got very confused, and insisted that we needed to schedule the children on different days, because of COVID. They have a one parent, one child rule, which is obviously a very reasonable policy during a pandemic. My wife said she understood, and that I would come with our other child, wait in the car, and then swap - aligning with their policy, and making sure that no more than two of us would be in the building at any time. They had two back to back appointments available, so should be easy, right? This idea blew their minds. They had to get a manager on the phone, who stumbled through the policy a few times again. After I pointed out that there was indeed a way to make their policy work AND not require us to schedule on completely different days (using math), the manager stumbled around about how some people miss appointments, so they cant schedule families anymore (a new reason!). I think she realized she wasnt making sense, so she just started shouting at me that ...if I didnt like their policies I could....So, we did. The new office is magical. Appointments on time, courteous staff who (gasp) treat you like a valued customer, a clear COVID policy that demonstrates they understand the disease, and appropriate prevention.Sad that it took a pandemic to make us find a better ophthalmology team, but let our loss be your gain!! You dont need to put up with the ineptitude of Childrens Eye Care - there are MANY new options that are far superior in the greater Seattle area. From the look of the other reviews for Childrens Eye Care here and on Yelp, I think I know why.Avoid - youve been warned!!

I’ve been bringing my daughter here for about 3 years, and Dr. Heidar gave her eye surgery about 2 years ago. Her vision has improved and I feel confident about continuing to use this ophthalmologist and optician. They are extremely busy and you have to schedule appointments far in advance but I think it’s because they are in such high demand.

Already had a prescription for my daughter, came here for their glasses selection. The selection was good but the optometrist was very curt and rushed my daughter into picking a pair. Then I never got a call when they FINALLY showed up at their office. I had to call and ask them if they had arrived yet.

Yes this doctors office is hard to get appointments initially. Which I swear is a good thing not a bad thing. The reason being is the ophthalmologist who work out of this office are so good at what they do , everyone is trying to get an appointment. We have gone from doctor to doctor to help our 4 year old with his esotropia and it wasn’t until we came here that we were able to get him the care he truly needed. Dr. Heidar was patient and caring in every appointment we had with her, and when we had her perform corrective surgery on our son she took care of him like he was her own. We can not recommend this place enough. Well worth the wait.

I would give negative stars for their optician!! The doctors were great. Their optical department is the worst ever! I was supposed to get back my kiddos glasses on Monday. But, I do not hear back from them, no call, no text, no email. When I show up, I was literally yelled at. She interrupted me and stormed out and was extremely rude.. She could just have said, we arent done with it yet, can you make an appointment for a later time. One year ago, same thing happened with the same lady. She did not get back to me for more than 2 weeks after the day she was supposed to call. When I showed up at the office, she screamed her head off. Gave them a benefit of doubt and got back. But, not again.. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

What an awful experience !! Never order any glasses from this office. Dr Epley is great but their optical division is terrible. First of all it took them over 3 weeks to get the glasses in, there was no communication what so ever in between and top of it they didnt call me back when I left them message inquiring about the same and the lady started arguing with me how they called me back and gave me BS about voice mails getting lost in the cloud while I have been receiving all other voice mails perfectly on my phone :) This is the last time I would be ordering glasses from here and may even have to look at another eye doctors office though we love Dr.Epley.

This review is for Mekouar O.D. onlyThe place and staff are all nice.My daughter had glasses since she turned two, and was treated in a different state. We moved to WA, heard good recommendations about this clinic and decided to go there. We were paired with Mekouar.First session she wanted my daughter to stop using her glasses and to stop wearing a patch. We were told in our previous clinic she will always need glasses because of her condition so this opinion made us wonder what is going on. Needless to say, we didnt do it.Two sessions later, she decided to recommend on taking further steps, completely opposite of her initial thoughts. She recommended weakening one eye that saw well, to bring it to the same level as the eye that didnt see well. Her words, not mine. I, as the mother of this 4 years old kid, said no. We agreed on a different course of action.I requested the glasses prescription so that I can get new glasses for my daughter. She said-go to the front desk, theyll print it out. Front desk first made another appointment with me and only then printed it out. And to my surprise, SHE PUT A PRESCRIPTION IN FOR THE EYE THAT IS SEEING WELL, EVEN THOUGH I SAID NO!I requested to see her immediately. She lied and said there was a prescription there before on the glasses. I told her, change it back to zero or were not coming in again. She refused and we walked away. I told the receptionist to cancel the appointment. If she wont, theyll get another bad review, as uncanceled appointment cost $75.We found a different pediatric eye doctor, with an appointment for two days later. He confirmed her glasses prescription had one eye on zero. We started seeing him instead.

The doctor who saw my daughter last year was great , but they even dont work with any vision insurance or submit to them. At least they didnt do it for our visit and want us to pay for price and we claim to insurance ! this is bill i received after a year for $509 for annual eye exam! we have VSP and eyemed insurance and they said they can not submit it. Ofcourse they want this way get more money from you since insurances have a certain fee that they pay them. They never told me that they can not submit to vsp or eyemed before visit. What vision clinic that can not work with any vsion service insurance!!!! will not go there.Dont go there otherwise you will end up with a big bill and headache of paper work of submission to insurance. there are plantly of good doctors and clinics out there.

I recently was charged $374 to have my daughters eyes re-checked before buying her glasses. My wife decided to purchase the glasses four months after my daughters initial exam, so insurance denied the claim because you are only allowed one exam per calendar year. Fair enough, but 1) Dr. Mekouar and staff should have informed us in advance that they were going to bill $374 in uncovered services and 2) $374 is over 4X higher than the rate of other eye exam services from optometrists (available through a certain warehouse service). Based on my experience, I would not recommend Childrens Eye Care to anyone.

Horrible customer service! We went there 1x for my son, and rescheduled his next years appt. when we received a postcard in the mail from this office as they are booked out many months in advance. We called to confirm a month before the scheduled appt.(I had been told a specific time and date) - AND THEY HAD NOT SCHEDULED IT! They could not find another appointment slot without many many more months wait. As good as they are with kids, there is really no point if their lack of professionalism causes them to drop appointments and hurts kids eyes in the meantime.

Dr. Epley has assembled a highly trained and skilled team and our son was well cared for. I recommend him to everyone! Hes worth the wait.

We got a referral for Dr K. David Epley from our Pediatrician for our daughter. We called on Thursday to set up an appointment with Dr. K. David Epley. We had all the proper documents and diag from the Pediatrician when we called but it seems that was not good enough to even set up an appointment. At this time we were told that there were two spots available for appointments (1 in December and 1 January) and they were booked thru February. They asked us to call back on Monday after they would received the referral from our Pediatrician. We called back on Monday and they basically stated that it did not matter since they received several hundred referrals each week and they did not have anything available. We were told to find another doctor. This was a waste of time but I was able to learn how arrogant this place was in the services they provide. This is an example of what is wrong with healthcare in America (not concern with the patients)..We did find Dr. Werner O. Cadera who was willing to accommodate our situation without any drama. He was able to take care of our daughter and he was really good with children.

Very courteous and friendly staff. Never sat in waiting room long enough for kids to get bored even though they couldnt possibly get bored when theres an entire playroom bigger than the seating area just for the kiddos and for the older kids theres a cozy little pint size movie theatre room away from the playroom ! This place knows kids and accommodated my adhd ten year old while seeing my 8 year old aspergers son ! I live in Everett and its worth the drive ! Dr.epley is very thorough and explains everything and answers any questions without making you feel like youre being rushed. My son will be having surgery to correct his eye position and I feel a lot better about it since talking with dr. Epley. I highly recommend this place! And Ive never had an issue with scheduling. In fact they scheduled our pre op surgery and post ops all at once !
