I go to Kim for my womens health needs and she is AMAZING. So caring and attentive and checks in on progress and to see how youre doing to make sure everything is going smoothly. Her office is like a spa too which is nice. You never wait in the waiting room like every other place Ive ever been to. Its in and out while never feeling rushed. Highly recommend her!

Had my fourth baby here during Covid. Weve lived in three different states and moved five times over the course of our baby having time. Weve toured sooooo many birth centers, delivered in four separate places and worked with many midwives/obgyns. You always have hopes for how you want birth to go. Some things you cant control. I knew I could control the environment I delivered in, the type of prenatal care I received and labor support I received. Not only was the facility like delivering in a spa but the care leading up to it was thorough, informed by best practices and years of experience. I definitely felt Empowered by Kim. I visited this birth center with a friend. Every detail has been thoroughly planned from the interior design to the latest equipment. It truly looks like beautifully designed and comfortable place to have your children.

Kim and her front office Manager, Mary, are two of the nicest, most easy going people ever. They are so accommodating, patient and helpful. This office is absolutely beautiful and they make you feel so warm and welcome at every appointment. It is definitely a stress-free environment. The birthing center is astonishing, the amenities available are wonderful. Kim and Mary assisted me with the birth of my third child and it was the best birthing experience I’ve ever had. I felt as though I was amongst family & during this pandemic, that was amazing. They took great care of me and my little ones, as they have since I had the pleasure of meeting them. I can not recommend this birthing center & midwife enough, seriously. Empowered Pregnancy is definitely a diamond in the rough.

Such a beautiful space! Kim is extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and kind. The birth classes were beyond expectations, so informative and thoughtful. This is a great middle ground option for those who dont feel comfortable giving birth at home but would prefer not to have to go to the hospital. 100% recommend!

Empowered Pregnancy is a locally owned and operated free standing birth center, centrally located next to Evergreen Hospital in the Totem Lake area of Kirkland, WA. The location is easy to find and there is parking available. The Birth Center is owned by Certified Nurse Midwife Kim Johansen. Kim has worked for over twenty years as a nurse midwife and is able to provide that knowledge and experience to her new clients here. The birth center opened in May of 2019. Kim is the primary care provider at the birth center and is supported by a small staff of receptionist, massage therapist, and some doula affiliates. A freestanding birth center is a safe and supportive environment for women with low risk pregnancies. A certified nurse midwife is able to provide exceptional care for pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. As this business continues to grow and establish itself in the birthing community of the Eastside we have no doubt that many families will be blessed to have the care and services provided here.
