After a turbulent medical year with my father, we were told about Golden Cottage and how wonderful the services are. Now that my Father has lived there since June 2021 I can without reservation recommend this outstanding AFH run by Laura I and her highly skilled and dedicated employees. We were so blessed to find Golden Cottage at just the time my husband needed total care. This is a very spacious, clean and attractive home, and the nursing care meets the highest professional standards. But beyond all that, Laura and Adrian gave my husband the most exquisite respect and loving care that was beyond all my expectations. They went out of their way to see to his comfort and happiness in any way possible. They cared for him as if he was their own father, and gave him joy at this very difficult time of his life.

Throughout my career in guardianship over elderly and disabled adults, I worked with many AFH providers, and Golden Cottage AFH will always remain one of my absolute favorites. Laura and Adrian are the owners of this wonderful home and they treat each resident warmly as their dear family member. Laura is a nurse with an extensive experience in geriatric care and mental health, including developmental delay and dementia, as well as end of life care. This home is well staffed and has long term caregivers. It’s very clean and spacious, it has a nice and secure outdoor area. Staff is easy to work and coordinate care with, they always show initiative and promptness to improving residents’ care if possible. Additionally, it’s located within just few minutes of Evergreen Hospital, which means help can arrive faster when needed.My favorite memories are the holidays in this home: Laura is a great cook and she loves treating residents and family members to a yummy feast, she will send you home with some as well.If you’re looking for a quiet loving environment for your loved one, look no more.

When we first toured we knew immediately this was the place! We could tell right away that Laura & Adi would love and care for our dad the way we would. And this was proven time and again! They care for our father so well that when it came time for us to find a location (really more next home) for our mom there was no question of where. It was the only our only choice.I really don’t think this work Laura & Adi do is a job to them but more of a calling. Truly amazing people!

I highly recommend Golden Cottage to anyone looking for a wonderful, caring place for their family member in need. My dad was with Golden Cottage for nearly 3 years. A strength of GC is that Laura and Adi, the owners, live there and take great care to make sure expert care is provided. Laura worked with my dad when he arrived to determine the best methods of care and then methodically trained the staff to deliver it. Laura, Adi, and the team expertly adapted my dad’s care as his needs changed. At times, my dad became very difficult to work with and the team handled it with grace and compassion. They remained committed until the very end and at my dad’s death, I realized just how much he had become part of their family.My dad was in one other home before Golden Cottage. The owners of the other place only popped in now and then and I felt the caregivers failed to really engage my dad while the owners really failed to deal with issues. As you look for places, do not under-estimate the value of the owners living at the house and being actively involved in the care of the residents. Laura’s record-keeping was meticulous, her arranging of engaging activities was creative and effective, her selection of staff demonstrated high expectations and professionalism, she was highly effective in managing communications with me, very helpful helping me work with and navigate doctors, and doggedly managed all the complexities to get my dad equipment he needed for effective care. She was gently persuasive in getting my dad to eat healthily, but also compassionate knowing when to just let him enjoy a great meal (they are great cooks). The entire staff rocked, but a shoutout to Candy who provided consistent and loving care for my dad. Adi also showed great promise as a barber when the pandemic prevented dad from leaving ;-)Do not hesitate to ask Laura and Adi for my number if you have more questions.

Laura and Adrian are the owners and primary care givers of this adult family home. We, as a family, could not have been happier with the care our mother received while in their care.Our mothers stay in this home was for about an 8 month time frame, she received excellent care during her stay.Laura and Addie went out of their way to make her feel at home and included as part of the family.Our mother was an artist and they made sure that she had adequate space to work and for her supplies. In previous homes we had issues with the administering of medicines, in this home there were no issues. Lauras attention to detail was in tune with our mothers needs and the doctors directions.Our mother was a finicky eater and they made sure that she maintained a healthy diet.The staff of this home had a daily routine that included stretching exercises and other activities that included all of the residents.As family members visiting the home, we were also made to feel at home and part of the family.

Laura and Adi gave our father with dementia the best care we could possibly imagine. It is a loving, family home, and Laura and Adi took care of our father like he was part of their family. During the COVID-19 pandemic they carefully followed all guidelines and kept COVID-19 out of Golden Cottage. My father was in hospice during this time, and they kept me updated on his condition even though I live on the other side of the country. Their knowledge, skill, and patience with their residents is unlike any you find in any other facility. The home is exceptionally clean, Laura and Adi and their staff are warm and friendly. I felt very fortunate that my father was able to stay at Golden Cottage and am forever grateful to Laura and Adi for their dedication. They are easy to communicate with and are responsive to requests and very helpful. I cannot imagine a more competent, professional, loving adult family home.

My family’s experience with Golden Cottage was so great the first time with my Dad that after my Mom broke her hip and was going to need more care than I could provide at home, Laura at Golden Cottage was my first call. They took such good care of each of our parents at the end of their lives. They not only maintained but improved the quality of life for our parents and for us by lifting the burden of worry from our shoulders, such a gift at that difficult time. They became part of our family.

I have had my family member in Golden Cottage Adult Family Home for 10+ years. I know he is in the very best hands. The caregivers are very attentive, make sure he is active (as appropriate), clean, well fed and communicate with us often. They truly care about the residents. It feels like a family. There are comfortable indoor spaces and nice outdoor areas to get fresh air. I trust the caregivers completely and do not have to worry about my loved one. They took great precautions during covid, anD not a single resident became sick. I am able to visit as often as I would like now that Covid has opened up for visiting. I highly recommend you have your loved ones stay at Golden Cottage.

My mother was a resident at Golden Cottage AFH for only a few months before she passed away just recently. She had advanced dementia and required extensive assistance with daily living activities. The home is located on a quiet street in the Kingsgate neighborhood and is immaculately maintained inside and out. The rooms are spacious and there is a large outdoor patio area. The home has a warm, family feel about it. Golden Cottage is every bit a family affair. The owners, Laura and Adrian, are a wonderful, caring couple. They and the two staff caregivers were always very kind to my mother, respectful and patient all while dealing with the most unpleasant aspects of taking care of a 90-year woman with advanced dementia. Laura is an RN and her skill and knowledge in dealing with dementia patients was obvious. Much of my mother’s stay was at the hospice level. Laura and the Golden Cottage caregivers worked seamlessly with the hospice staff at Evergreen Health. I highly recommend Golden Cottage. Ward B.

I wholeheartedly recommend Golden Cottage Adult Family Home as it is everything a family could look for in a place for a loved one to live and receive care. Laura and Adrian, the owners, lead their amazing staff of caregivers by example, offering continuous, compassionate and quality care. My Mom was a resident of Golden Cottage for several months and benefited from their personalized, highly skilled care. As a Registered Nurse, with a passion for caring for older adults, Laura brings expertise and experience to caring for more complex patients like my Mom, who was legally blind and suffered advanced dementia. In the closing weeks, Mom was in Hospice and Laura, Adrian and their team coordinated care with the Hospice team to maximize the benefit, care and comfort for Mom. Attention was paid to every detail of Mom’s care. We, as a family, were kept informed with regular updates and we were always most welcome at Golden Cottage. The facility itself is spacious, well appointed, sparkling clean and filled with the scents of home-cooked meals. You can see the lovely, special rapport between the owners, staff and each resident.
