The Dockmaster and Staff are all great --as long as you mind your own business. They do not like nonsense complaints, or other senseless fodder. Unfortunately, some of the residents are the equivalent of trailer-trash. My boat has been boarded twice without permission. Once due to unfounded concern, and recently by one of my neighbors, who cut the pull-cord on my generator, which runs at 57Db. Still looking for that idiot...
Weve been here for a week now. The field moorings are in good shape. Theyre converting to chain on all. Maintenance is ongoing. No mishaps from the recent 35mph blow inay. Pumpouts Mondays & Tuesdays
Decent place, reasonable price for mooring field $340/mo includes weekly pump out tender, dinghy marina, parking spot, toilet and shower. Great staff, very helpful. About 10 minute dinghy ride to the mooring field. Nabal Air Station trains a lot... blackhawk helicopters and frogmen dropping in the water are fun to watch. So are F18s doing their touch-n-gos. A lot of marinas have fun social events, this one does not. But the town has lots going on.
Its not bad I was out there for like 3 months is pretty good most of the time until you got any kind of wind coming out of the North Northeast Northwest
City run mooring field. They are real easy and nice to deal with at the office. If you’re going to use the moorings you’ve probably already done your research and realize the drawbacks, long dinghy rides( nearly a mile in some cases), little to no protection from the north, institutional bathroom facilities etc. but then again, it’s Key West.
A lot of derelict boats on mooring balls. A little bit of a dingy ride to get to the laundry and showers. The showers are not too bad, they are air conditioned and pet clean. The lauder only had 4 washers and duets but they give you a fair amount of time for $2.
The folks working here are really helpful - especially the pump out guys, Art and Al. Art suggested the Y-valve as the culprit for my aft head not pumping out and that was the problem. After numerous hours of my unsucessfully troubleshooting, snaking hoses, and scouring forums Art pointed me right at the solution.
We enjoyed our time here, we were there for a month, but man if you are unlucky enough to be there during a northerly front come in you in for a wet and wild ride. Also, there is no common room and you cant receive mail there, so you have to get a P.O. Box. It is fairly close to everything you need, once you take a long dinghy ride in.
Its the only mooring field in Key West. Its safe enough. Not much theft. Not much drama. Its a long dinghy ride, the facilities arent fancy but its the only one here. So you get what you get, and you dont pitch a fit.
Decent mooring balls, would be nice if they had pennants. Long motor in. But great value, and the office folks are very accommodating.
Good place to hang for a little while. A bit far from town.
Little protection from wind and waves. Recently a mooring failed and the boat was badly damaged.
Not bad, but was too shaky all night. Its because field isnt closed from all sides.
Its a bit of a hike and it sucks when the weather kicks up. Beyond that its a pretty good spot for the money.
Not nearly as much growth on the hull as other places. Dinghy dock is a bit of a trek.
It is getting back to normal still have a few balls to fix though but has room most of the time
Long way to shore
