I have been a patient at Northland Family Care for over 15 years...going back to the days when they were located in the Seaport complex in Liberty. The physicians and staff at this practice are, quite simply, the best. There have been numerous occasions over the years where these good folks have gone over and above the norm to provide me with excellent care and follow up.My wife and I recently moved to the state of Florida. Believe me, you do not realize how much you value having a good doctor and medical staff available to you...until you dont.Northland Family Care, and Dr. Daniel Roney, have earned the highest recommendation I can give. They truly care about their patients well being, and the personal attention you will receive from them is second to none.

If I could give this practice zero stars I would.I saw a physician that I liked for several years at this practice. The front desk staff was always very pleasant, but the back office staff was never very kind. When my doctor would order tests or referrals, I would have to call the office several times to get anything done, and more than once, I gave up. But I kept going there because I liked my doctor, so much so that I told my husband to go see him. My husband is a veteran and has some service related conditions that are followed up on by a doctor at the VA. When my husband went to my doctor he took his VA records with him, including annual routine lab work that had recently been done. The doctor treated him like he was a junkie, although he wasn’t even asking for any medication, and told him that he needed to either see him or the VA, not both. When my husband explained that he only goes to the VA for his service related conditions and that he needs a civilian doctor for his primary care, Dr. Nelson told him it was “unethical” to see more than one doctor and that my husband was “trying to cheat the system”. (We have private insurance and pay our premium and co-pays, so I am not sure how that would be considered cheating anything). He also questioned why my husband had labs drawn. My husband told him that he was welcome to view all of his medical records, and even had the past two year’s worth of records printed off and in his hand. But Dr. Nelson continued to treat him like complete trash, so my husband ended the visit and left.It goes without saying that I called our insurance the next morning and changed my primary care physician. No doctor is so superior that he has the right to treat anyone poorly. In my opinion shaming a veteran for seeking medical care is something to be ashamed of. I would never recommend this practice to anyone, ever.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nelson for 15 years and have stayed at this practice because I think he is wonderful. Unfortunately what that means is 1+ hour wait times to be seen and rude nursing staff. Going to the doctor has become a half day ordeal with this office.Additionally, I recently needed an imaging order to be placed for an important health concern. It took an entire week of calling every single day and one day twice to get this completed correctly. The staff not once called me back with the exception of the office manager on the seventh day. I was never provided an explanation as to why this wasn’t addressed timely. The order at one point was faxed to the wrong business and then had a fax fail with no follow up or resending.I have been so disappointed in this practice and I would look elsewhere if you’re seeking care.

Love the staff and doctors! Dr. Nelson is so professional and caring. He is willing to listen, answer and guide your health decisions....even the difficult, uncomfortable ones.

Only started going to Northland in August of 2015 after numerous urgings of my wife who had been going there for several years. Found Dr. Nelson to be an extremely qualified physician who has a really friendly bedside manner. Have also had appointments with the nurse practitioners and they have been exceptionally good. Would I recommend this facility? YES.

I have been a patient here for about ten years. My physician is wonderful. However, making an appointment and completing the visit is a half day ordeal. In the last year at least, I have yet to be called back on time, sometimes waiting 45 minutes to an hour and then continue to wait in the patient room. I do not find my provider’s nurse to be helpful or polite. While I receive great care, the overall experience with the staff and clinic process is subpar at best.

The staff at Northland Family Care are efficient and caring. I have always been taken care of by the doctors and nurses. They go the extra step of caring about their patients.

In the age of a digital world I have for the past few years carried my health insurance card under my app. A valid copy can be emailed or faxed. They have hassled me since day one that I have to have a hard copy that was laminated for each visit. To which they just make a copy of. On my last visit, a woman next to me said she didnt have the physical copy and the office assistant said it was perfectly fine. Why wasnt it perfectly fine with me? Whatever. Recently I was diagnosed from a different doctor with a condition in one visit, that over 4 years with this doctors office, they neglected to find. After my diagnosis, my other doctor tried to get this offices doctors to work with him and communicate with him to help with my condition. THEY WOULD NOT. They said they were too busy, and hinted towards the fact that the medicine that needed to be administered they would not because I had now somehow been labeled as a person trying to get pills. This was a huge blow, given I had already been through enough with having an allergic reaction to the previous medicine that was actually working. The quality if care is horrible. The attention to detail with diagnosis is horrible. Communication is horrible. Office staff, mainly VICKY is rude and horrible. Save yourself the money and find an office that will truly care about your well being.

Doctor Beth and her nurse are so welcoming. I am so grateful to have them be apart of my wellness, holistic,and spiritual journey. If you are a younger woman looking for a doctor give her a try. Her and her nurse are very welcoming, assuring, and well rounded.

I’ve been going here for about two years. Friendly and quick staff. I see Nicole Ragland and I couldn’t talk highly enough about her. Great bedside manners and makes you feel very comfortable no matter what kind of appointment you’re in for. She’s usually booked up so call in advance!

Dr Nelson And his team are Amazing!He has been our Doctor for many years. When we welcomed our baby into the world, we trusted that Dr Nelson would be the perfect choice for our Pediatric needs. I relocated from the Northeast US to the Kansas City area in 2004. My family had the same doctors for many years before relocating. After trying out a few physician offices, we were delighted when we found Northland Family Care. The quality of the physicians, nurses and administrative staff are outstanding! They truly take a personal interest and do not rush you through the process. I had spent eight years on a community hospitals administrative staff in the past and have an appreciation for good patient care. I highly recommend Northland Family Care to trust with your healthcare needs.

Ive been with this practice about 20 years now....couldnt ask for better.Just for one example, Dr. Steve Nelson and his nurse Marcy are awesome to say the least.The nurse line is excellent too, they always return your calls as soon as possible and making an appointment is as easy as just picking up the phone and telling the person on the other end that you want to come in....and if you want it they will usually get you in that day, if the Doctors are full with appointments, the nurse practitioners are usually available, and I find them to be very knowledgable also.A person couldnt ask for a practice better than this.......great people and just as good care.

Dr. Steve Nelson and his nurse Marcie have taken excellent care of my family for many years. My parents are elderly and have quite a few health issues so they make many visits to his office. Dr. Nelson is always friendly and takes time to listen and accurately diagnose their problems. When they have been hospitalized, Dr. Nelson is the physician who makes the hospital visits and manages their care, which is very comforting. I would highly recommend Northland Family Care. The doctors, nurses and staff are very caring and have their patients best interests at heart.

I had to find a new general practitioner after mine retired. I have found Dr. Steve Nelson, his staff and front office people to be of high quality and very service oriented. He has a genuine and sincere bedside manner. Over all I would rate Northland Family Care a 10 and recommend them without hesitation.

When my doctor of 20 years retired, I had to go looking. I asked around and narrowed the field to five or six doctors for visits and/or interviews. After a good year of looking and interviewing family doctors, I settled on Dr. Steve Nelson. He has been my doctor for almost two close to two years now, and I am very pleased with his knowledge, interpersonal communication skills, dedication, and thorough approach to solving problems. He even has a sense of humor. It is hard to lose your family doctor, but I am thankful I found Steve Nelson.

I have been a patient here for years (with Dr. Roney). I have never had a problem until this afternoon. I saw a doctor that is not my typical doctor today. I was in a car accident where someone hit me and now i have a herniated disc in my back. I told the doctor this and that I am in pain. He treated me like a druggie and was extremely rude. I do not reccomend this place to anyone.

After reading reviews for days I decided to make my primary care provider Northland Family Care because of the positive Doctor reviews. I show up for an issue with chest pain, fill out all the paper work but cannot find my insurance card. I called another Dr to have them fax a copy over thinking I still had 5 minutes before my appointment but was then stopped and told it was to late to get the card and I needed to either leave or reschedule. I about broke out in tears explaining I was seeing someone for chest pain (something serious) and had great difficultly getting off work and another doctor was faxing the card at that moment. The response I got was shocking as I was told again it was to late and sorry come back another time. I guess it might be a good thing now to find out the doctors may be awesome but at least a few of the staff left their heart somewhere else.

My husband I and both see Dr. Steve Nelson. Dr. Nelson is thorough and personable. The office is always accommodating and is reliable to get a call back from a nurse or a refill on an Rx. There is also a lab and xray in the same building, so it is convenient to do other testing while you are already there.

My family and I have never had a bad experience with this practice. I especially love Nicole Ragland! The staff is always super friendly. I love that I can take the entire family to one office. Highly recommended!

Im fairly new to the office. I find it very easy to set up appointments, send in questions via email, get in, prescriptions filled, etc and am very happy with Dr. Nelson as my primary. He takes me in stride.

I have always had a great experience with Northland Family and Dr Roney. My doctor I had had for 30 years retired so went in search and Dr Roney was recommended by several of his patients. Best doctors ever. Really though. Doctor Dan Roney is my primary and I absolutely love him. He is attentive and truly cares about his patients. When I needed their advice, their staff returned my calls promptly and I was able to obtain appointments with Dr. Roney or one of his associates within a day or two.

I have been a patient of Dr. Nelsons for 10+ years. First as a young newlywed, and now as a mother of 5 boys. He and his nurse Marcy are top notch! He cares for our entire family and I refer everyone I know to him. When it comes to my kids, he always says, If it was my kid, this is what I would do... I trust him completely. He was the first to identify a problem in my leg that turned out to be non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Ill never forget what he said. I really doubt its something serious, but its my job to make sure. My family could not be in better hands.

I moved to the KC area in 2005 and Dr. Dan Roney was recommended to me by a friend. We recently moved to Florida and Im having a terrible time finding a new doctor because no one compares to Dr. Roney and his fine staff. They are professional and really care about their patients. They take time to explain things and answer questions and never look at the clock. In this day and age where everything comes down to the bottom line, Northland Family Care puts their patients first.

I also go to Northland FC and see Dr. Nelson. Wendy is very nice, but there is one gal who helps answer the phone who can be a real witch. Dr. Nelson saw me several times and then in December I almost had pneumonia and he made a lots of points with me when he had his nurse call to see how I was doing. That spoke to my heart about how he cared about patients and especially older ones.

Most office help dont even remember your name without asking> This office does. Im very comfortable being under their care!

I have been to this practice twice now. Both times was very fast, efficient, and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely recommend going to these doctors.

—3/15/2018 Update—Further incompetence coming out of this office. As you can see in the review below I was told no more refills on my blood pressure medication until I come in to get updated blood work. This conflicted an earlier decision of me being told they would refill my medication on a monthly basis until I was able to drive again (awaiting surgery for 3 torn ligaments in the right ankle. I’m under strict no driving instructions). So, Tuesday (3/13/18) I get a call from a pharmacy that I haven’t used in close to a year, telling me I have a prescription ready for pickup. As I inquired about the script, I was told Northland Family Care filled it with 6 refills. The problem is, it’s a blood pressure medication I haven’t taken in over a year because I was having an adverse reaction to it. I called Northland Family Care and initially got the run around. As, I further explained the situation, I was told by the lady that answered the phone, “that just isn’t possible!”. I assured her it came from their office as the doctor’s name on the script is Steve Nelson. I was told a nurse would call me back with an explanation. Well, 48 hours later......no phone call. To me, it’s not a surprise coming out of this office. Again, save yourself the headache and incompetence coming from so called “medical professionals” and find another primary care physician!—————If you like waiting an hour every time to be seen, then this is the doctor’s office for you. Each and every time it is a different excuse, such as the doctor is backed up, we’ve got a new computer system or we forgot to transfer your check-in from the front office to the nurses in back. Annoying that they don’t value a patient’s time.On one occasion there was a HUGE mix up in the office when an MRA should have been ordered instead of a MRI. An expensive MRI was done instead of the MRA. I left the imaging center to receive a phone call an hour later telling me Northland Family Care ordered the wrong imaging. I called expressing my frustration and not one person offered an apology. Instead they blamed it on the computer system and other people that worked within the office.I’m also on a drug for hypertension. It has been a little over a year since my last visit and I was contacted by Northland Family Care stating I would need updated blood work done. Before I was able to schedule the appointment, I was injured at work. The injury caused a tear in 3 ligaments in my ankle (two of them being complete tears). I’m under specific instructions not to drive and limited weight bearing to keep swelling down so surgery can be done. Post surgery I will be in a cast for 6 weeks with no weight bearing and no driving.Recently, after trying to get a refill I received a phone call and was told by a nurse in the office that I would need to be seen before they would fill my script. I explained my situation to her and she said they would continue to fill the script on a monthly basis until I was at least cleared to drive. Four days after that, I got another phone call stating they would only give me an additional month and then I would need to be seen. Pretty horrible patient and doctor/nurse experience. This office has a lot of work to do, and this is coming from someone that works in the medical profession and with doctor’s offices.So, save yourself the bad experience and find another primary care physician in the Northland. There are plenty of them to choose from, I know I will be choosing a new one.

Ive never felt as if they were talking down to me. I would gladly refer patients to Dr. Roney and have in fact sent my youngest son there a couple of times when he was in town and needed care. The staff is easy to work with and very kind also. If you need a doctor give them a try.

Not only did I grow up in a family with a father that was a physician (surgeon and hospital chief of staff) but I have received healthcare from outstanding healthcare professionals throughout the US. Daniel Roney has been my physician for more than 20 years. I have had some rather quirky health issues and have actually been mocked by other doctors. From day one, Dr. Roney has listened, ordered appropriate testing, and in each and every instance been able to diagnose a real problem. Love him, love his nurses, and love the office staff! Finally got my husband to switch and Dr. Roney and staff are giving him the same great healthcare Ive been receiving all these years. This team listens!

Get an early morning Appt. if you dont like waiting but I believe that is as most good Doctor practices are. Dr. Nelson has been my Dr. for many years and unless I move or he retires he will be my last Dr.

Dr. Roney is my doctor and I have had a very good experience with the Northland Family Care. Never have to wait very long for my appointment. Everyone is friendly.
