I do not live in Jacksonville. Thus, my initial consultation with Dr. Lyerly was by phone. Previously I had spoken several times to members of his team, schedulers, etc. All were very efficient and courteous, with almost immediate call backs. This type of efficiency is becoming quite rare in medicine and they should be commended.My appointment with Dr. Wallace was, frankly, one of the most informative and effective I have had with medical practitioners. Although I had not yet provided him with all of the imaging, etc, he had obviously reviewed my information, and actually asked questions about my condition. A very thorough, informed discussion by an obviously highly experienced physician. He was courteous, focused, and developed a diagnostic/ treatment plan.I am not accustomed to this, having been shuffled from pain management clinics to surgical consults, with work ups that have gone nowhere, etc for the last two years. I had begun to believe that there WAS NO possible treatment for what has become debilitating back pain. Lyerly is obviously very patient-focused and at this point, I recommend it unequivocally.

I have never been ignored by a doctors office before now. My brother has Parkinson’s Disease and needs his battery replaced for his Deep Brain Stimulator. This is life changing for a Parkinson’s patient. The surgery needs preauthorization. I received the all clear and have been trying to work it out with this group for two months now. They will not even return my calls. I get the feeling that this half hour procedure is not worth their time. But for my brother his next fall may be fatal and they could care less.

Professional staff, friendly and very helpful. Dr. Garcia was well prepared for my appointment having already read my previous records. He is very personable, knowledgeable and came highly recommended from my pain management physician. I was extremely pleased with my overall experience and will continue to see Dr. Garcia about my surgical options moving forward

I have to say that I had a great experience with having my procedure. The staff were very helpful and professional. They made me feel comfortable and at ease.

I like that Heather Bean, NP truly seems to care about her patients. Her genuine concern is almost palpable and I found myself wishing I could hug her multiple times because I felt like she was actually listening to me. She has a very nurturing character that puts you at ease. I only met Dr. Andrew Shaw briefly right before surgery but we did have a zoom conference to discuss how the surgery works. He is very smart and young so he’s more fresh in my opinion. Both of my providers have great bedside manner and both were present for my surgery which was comforting. Dr. Shaw also came to check on me after surgery. I am 1 day post op from a microdiscectomy and I cannot believe how great I feel already, especially considering that Dr. Shaw said I had the largest disc herniation he’s ever seen. I couldn’t recommend this practice enough and making the drive from Orlando was absolutely worth it.

Dr. Javiar Garcia Bengochea and his PA Edward Saleh are very gifted surgeons and if gifted or outstanding surgeons are what you are looking for then you have found the right team. But they have so much more to offer. They are a team and work really well together. Compassion is also on their lists of gifts. Both explain the procedures until you understand everything involved in your surgery and they have answered all of your questions. When they are explaining things to you they do not rush through the process. They give you, the patient, the time you need to process the information. They are always personable and professional. Usually, when you find good doctors their staff is ok. At Lyerly the staff are like the surgeons, very polite and professional. All the staff I interacted with treated me with courtesy and respect. I have to say that Dr. Javiar Garcia Bengochea and PA Edward Saleh will always be my first choice.

From the office staff to the nurse and of course my Dr Shaw, I thought the whole experience was excellent. I have had some follow up questions and Heather Bean the nurse practitioner returned my calls and spent a good amount of time explaining things to me.

Great surgeon Dr Garcia is the best. Can’t beat Edwards back up.

They ask you to come 45 mins early for your appointment. I did that and then wasn’t seen for more than 30 minutes after my appt time. So basically 1.5 hours to wait with zero service. Nevermind the time (30 mins) it took to drive here and navigate where it is located within the hospital. I’d make sure you bring a novel to read and a pair of sneakers.

The staff was absolutely fantastic, most notably Megan the scheduler, but also the receptionist, medical assistant and Dr. Hanel were all superb. An incredible level of hospitality, kindness and sense of urgency to make it happen for my particular situation.

We finally got a referral and we find out my husbands 1st appointment is 3 months from now. Thats a pretty long wait to get help.

Everyone associated with Baptist Hospital was very personable. The very best thing about my experience is that after almost a year of back pain I have absolutely no pain whatso ever. I havent had to take any pain medication since my operation. Not even my incision has any pain.

Dr. Cannestra and his team were very proficient during my c5/c6 disc replacement surgery in May of 2021. The surgery went off without a hitch. Five stars to the surgical team.Getting a surgery done at Baptist is a big pain. Parking is far away from the actual surgical suite. I had to hike for quite a while and these bones were not a fan. I had to make this trek three times. Once for pre-op, once on surgery day, and finally a trip for post-op xrays. So, 1 star for each long trip.After some hiccups along the way, Lyerly has been making some ardent strides on improving the shortfalls noted above. While the distance traveled is still painful the office staff and doctors have been working hard to make it better. The issue with medication 💊 has been greatly improved.

Dr. Wallace is a great surgeon to evaluate your spine issues. He is so thorough and objective in describing ALL the options to treat your issue. He is focused on providing the best care for each patient and not just looking to do procedures. Can’t recommend him enough!!

Dr Shaw, Heather Bean APRN, and Cheryl Grabill MA were all very professional and helpful thru the entire process. I was in pain for months and tried all types of conservative therapy. I was referred to Dr. Shaw and his team. He went over My MRI with me and gave me his recommendations. Cheryl was very helpful in getting me set up for surgery and answering questions along the way. Heather was very pleasant and comforting at surgery prep. Surgery was successful and recover was quick. 3 months out and I have been back to normal behavior since the fourth week. Melanie does such a great job at keeping me informed and always return calls promptly and always with a pleasant voice. Dr. Savageau is great at explaining in terms that makes me feel comfortable. I know I’m in good hands as far as treatment for my tumor and migraine headaches. I’m no longer in the Jacksonville area, moved to central Florida (Apopka area) but I’m willing to drive 2 hours for the great care and service. .

I had surgery with Lyerly, Dr. Nima (Amin) approximately one year ago. This office has not left me alone since my surgery and I am TRULY grateful! When in the hospital, I awoke each day to a member of Dr. Nimas team checking in on me, if not the doctor himself. After leaving the hospital routine phone calls were made to follow up with my recovery and to ensure nothing was needed by me. And, now that I have been on the road to recovery for some time now, I continue to visit Lyerly for follow up visits and check ups. This is an awesome organization of professional people - nurses, physicians, physician assistants, and all other personnel - who conduct themselves with the utmost dignity and integrity. I am sorry to have met Dr. Nima under such unfortunate circumstances but I am very fortunate to have him as my surgeon/doctor.

The staff treats you like family. I had no wait time either for initial visit, to get to patient room, or when transition from talking to the nurse to when Dr came into the room, and we all know that could take longer than getting in that room. It was refreshing. My nurse, Cheryl...outstanding in a word. Very friendly, very easy to talk to. My experience with her was like coming home to family. Dr Shaw was a good listener and was patient with all my concerns. He was quick to show me what my records showed and knew exactly what we needed to do to get me ready for surgery. Having this evasive surgery had me anxious & nervous but after talking with Dr Shaw I feel like I am in the best of hands. My surgery date was also set to be much sooner than I expected. I dread going to the Dr just cuz of all the waiting, but they proved my wrong in this field.
