I have been going to JOI on and off for about 8 years now. Knee replacement, rotator cuff, etc. This time it was for back pain - namely sciatica....I suspect due to the last year and a half of sitting around with little activity. LIZZIE did an outstanding job of helping me get pain free (even though it wasnt so pain free when she was working on me!) She was positive and pleasant to work with, encouraging me to stay with the stretches needed to start doing the things we enjoy....like bike riding and hiking. Thanks JOI and Lizzie!

Back on 07/21/2021 I injured my right hand on the job. And have been out on Workers Comp. Im a day away from what could be my last appointment at JOI Rehab on 10/25/2021. Im back for more Rehab at JOI. They and I are still trying to get my Index Finger on my right hand to be normal. For the last two months I have been a patient of JOI Rehab. Before I came to JOI I wasnt sure my hand was ever going to feel better. But it has and I want to thank Kaylee for the professional rehab she has done to my right hand. And She has helped me feel good about myself for its not only the hand she worked on. Her positive attitude also helped me recover. I also want to thank the staff of JOI Rehab from the Front Counter Personal to the Physical Therapy assistants. True Team Members make all the difference in the world to most patients. And I Thank You All Very Much. Eric.

Unfortunatelyunfortunately Ive had a very stressful poor experience dealing with j o i since the beginning of September of 2020. When Ive registered with them I made it clear this was a New York State no fault insurance claim from a car accident they insisted on my regular medical card for a secondary insurance to have on file they assured me it would not be used unfortunately that was not the case nine times in counting I have to correct all the appointments that were not made due to them giving the wrong medical information to the MRI facility to the scheduling department for a sonogram which I was not told my Doppler was canceled till I drove over 2 hours from Georgia for that appointment when I arrived there for the Doppler.they claim that somebody called me the day before and let me know I show them my phone there was no message from nobody the day before or a missed call I was supposed to have an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon for knee surgery yesterday and I was called and it was canceled 2 hours prior to the appointment because once again they dont want to use my no fault insurance one hand doesnt seem to know what the other one is doing and I would highly recommend you go elsewhere for your treatment the schedulers are supposed to just schedule your appointment Ive been refusing them arrived my lower back that Ive been fighting to get since September yet to get the schedules are going to tell me the law that I have to use my regular insurance when this was a car accident by law my regular insurance will not pay for it knowing that the New York State no fault insurance should be paying for it I think their staff needs more training to have better knowledge of their job and they need to learn how to build properly and not use your private insurance when they were made very clear that this was a car accident and fill that paperworks to ask about the accident how it took place when it took place so theres no excuse for this poorly managed professional office and I did call the office manager two times in a week and a half until this day Im still waiting for return call which does give a poor reflection and explain the poor management of this medical office so I advise you to go elsewhere for your medical care it is cause undue stress to me raise my blood pressure I do have other health issues I made a trip there for nothing which is a 4 hour round trip for me but the nurse was able to squeeze me in for a sonogram so I appreciated that but this has been nothing but a whirlwind of aggravation dealing with this facility so please take your business elsewhere if you dont want to go do all kinds of aggravation and delayed treatment and tests its not worth it

Today was my last day! I’m actually impressed by how far I’ve come in 5 weeks. My first visit was the most painful after hip replacement and home therapy. Ehren did my evaluation and took measurements. My goal was to ride a bike, but we faced a few problems getting me there. A previous knee replacement had me frozen up and severely limited my range of motion. Coming in I was somewhere around 45 degrees bending. But Ehren, Bridget, and Michelle taught me ways to properly stretch and push past my pain. I am extremely thankful for them all. Everyone is professional and knowledgeable. I left at 70 degrees which was short of what I need for a bike ride, but well on my way to recovery. My hip replacement joint feels strong and supportive. Thank you JOI Rehab -San Marco for giving me a chance at a better second half of life.

If you have any issues relating to your spine, I HIGHLY recommend going to see Ehren Allen. I had severe neck pain and just one session of physical therapy dramatically helped. Within two weeks, I was almost completely back to normal, which I didnt think was possible at one point. Ehren is a wonderful therapist and I cannot say enough good things about him!

I received outstanding care from Michelle Duclos. I have been in and out of physical therapy for various reasons over the years, and I have to say she is the absolute best! Each time I came in for therapy, her plan for me was flexible depending on my pain level, progress, etc. Each day I felt like what I accomplished in therapy was getting me closer to my goals. She always had great suggestions for me when I had questions about how to continue my exercises / therapy while I was at work, away from home, etc. I would recommend her to anyone. My treatment was for back and knee.

A well established and respected name in the North Florida Medical community. They are large, successful, and busy. Thus their waiting room is vast. However, I have seen their staff rise to the occasion, step up, and get people registered quickly when there is a line. From the top down, the staff is kind and compassionate. I didn’t enjoy needing orthopedic surgery, but I did enjoy my visits here.

This review is strictly about Intake Specialist Tamiko Hall, not the rehab itself. Tamiko was tremendously helpful and went above and beyond to assist me in getting the best care (and insurance coverage) possible. I was given crutches and it wouldve been impossible to get to my car with the other things I had to take with me (papers/bag, etc) - instead of calling for assistance she literally took me to my car herself. She was kind, friendly and an ultimate pleasure to work with. She is the perfect example of how an employee can be such an asset to a company. She is definitely a model employee and I cant speak more highly of her.

Never going back. Have the nerves to charge you to get the result of your MRI that you already paid for!!!!! If that isnt enough they tried to blame it on my insurance!!! Nope! Instead of coding it as a follow-up they code it as an initial office visit!!!! Can you say fraud!!! I got my money back and walked out!!!! If I could give them a zero I would!!!

I cannot say enough about the staff and therapists involved with my treatment at the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Center San Marco. My therapist, as well as other therapists I had the privilege of getting to know always answered every question and really took to heart my personal struggles. The staff at the San Marco office were always courteous and efficient. I personally thank Ehren for taking such an interest in my personal growth and recovery during an extreme difficult time. I would highly recommend the JOI San Marco Rehabilitation Center if you have an injury keeping you from doing what you want to be doing in life. He made sure he had all possible scenarios to try and avoid surgery, as this was my dominant arm. unfortunately, my injury required surgery and he was fantastic. The surgical staff and anesthesiologist were all amazing as well.I am 2 weeks post-op, and having my rehab their as well, and they have been good to me as well. They are the best in Jax hands down!

While I havent enjoyed my injuries. I really enjoyed the methods of treatment, as well as my therapist, at JOI. He was extremely attentive and very personable. When I first went to therapy, I was in pain (torn labrum in hips) for a large part of the day. One of my hips is almost healed. The other hip is not far behind. Three months ago, I would have thought that this journey would involve surgery. Im very surprised and pleased with the results Ive gotten from therapy. Definitely not going to need surgery. It took some time, but one day, a switch flipped and my hips/pain were vastly improved.Overall, my pain is now minimal and Ive been given the tools to continue my journey for healing and continuing my exercise journey injury-free.

Impersonal, nightmare with scheduling, unhelpful staff, overpriced even in network:My GP scheduled me with JOI when my knee suddenly swelled. By the time I went to JOI, I had already had x-rays and an ultrasound which had turned up very little, so I was hopeful this talented group could help me diagnose what was going on and give me a path to treatment. In my several visits, there were long wait times, but I expected that with a large clinic like JOI. The orthopedist I saw was brief, and didnt give me much time, which I was also willing to accept. He ordered MRIs in order to diagnose what was going on, and thats where the trouble started. I was promptly scheduled for the MRIs, but I specifically asked for a predetermination. The office failed to give me one, but I thought perhaps it was because of the speed of the order (just a week after my first visit to JOI). That ended up be an expensive MRI, as it turned out, but I didnt find out until after. My orthopedist then took a vacation... for a month. He did not tell me that he was going of vacation, nor did he arrange for me to see someone else. Meanwhile, with periodic swelling, I could hardly walk and had pain levels in the 6 to 8 range. Nonetheless, since I had already started with JOI, I decided to see it through, and that was a mistake. When I finally got in to see the orthopedist, he gave me a diagnosis. It turned out I had two things: one a cyst on the back of the knee that was easy to treat with an aspiration, and the other was a serious, rare disease that causes tumorous growth around the knee. He ordered an aspiration of the cyst at Baptist, but said he wanted to wait on the serious issue. After my consultation, I was left to wait in the office for more than half an hour. I assumed they were getting paperwork ready. When someone finally came, they had nothing to say, only that I was free to go. I again asked for a predetermination. They said they would take care of it and call me with scheduling options for an aspiration. Again, JOI did not provide a predetermination, AND they scheduled me without asking about my schedule. I learned all this by robocall. I couldnt make the time they scheduled me for, so I called JOI. I was told only my orthopedists assistant could help me... and she was on vacation through the time of my scheduled procedure. I called JOI again and explained all this, so they referred me to another number, which didnt pick up; I left a message, but never got a call back. Meanwhile I called my insurance: they said they never received a predetermination request, and further that without approval, I would be charged the full amount for the procedure. I again went through the process of chasing people around JOI by phone, and after more than 2 HOURS of this, I got someone to look into it, only to find out they had conflicting information. After waiting a few more hours, the orthopedists assistant called back and rudely told me it was no big deal and just to show up.I decided to come in for the procedure so that I could at least make some headway with my knee after all this... only to find out once I arrived that JOI had canceled that appointment, and had rescheduled me for another day AGAIN WITHOUT TELLING ME. At this point I stood my ground and refused to leave until I could talk to someone about what the heck was going on. After 45 minutes of waiting, I was abruptly told they could in fact complete the procedure that day. All this was without explanation, but all I wanted to do was finish this nightmarish process and get out of there. The procedure went fine; it was very routine, despite all the trouble caused by JOIs incompetence. The last little pinch came at the end: when I was released I asked if the orthopedist had scheduled a follow up. I was told he didnt think it was necessary, even though he had only addressed the least important of my issues. I was fine to leave it at that and part ways with JOI forever.I truly hope no one else has such a frustrating, expensive and pointless visit to Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute.

I went to JOI to se Dr Katay. He was GREAT! Unfortunately my bad experience happend while waiting to see him. The waiting area was dark and dingy. I sat there for all of 5 mins. But that was long enough to invite a german cockroach for a lift. It was discusting. With all the money that JOI has, Im sure they can afford a face lift, cleaning, perhaps even new furniture... if I have to go there again. Whcih is a possibilty I will stand and not have a seat.Sad for such an establishment to be sooo dirty.

First of all, let me say, Thank You to, JOI, Dr. Bruce Steinberg and the entire staff at JOI for all their professional efforts in returning me back from a broken R-wrist and a torn R-shoulder rotator cuff successfully.Let me say that I had complete confidence in Dr. Bruce Steinbergs ability to restore me back to my maximum medical improvement. Hes an excellent surgeon who says what needs to be done and then backs it up by doing exactly as he promises. A honest & true professional for JOI.Lastly, I was extremely pleased with JOIs Rehabilitation Department! Especially, Jessica Bruno (my main Physical Therapist) and also Julia Guthart (Head Physical Therapist). I should also include Lily Condy (Physical Therapist) too! These 3 professional therapists worked me very hard three times a week to get me back to where I needed to be as fully functional semi-retired individual. My experience was just awesome, as I looked forward to going into the rehab center each and every appointment due to the fact that Jessica and the gang ran me through my paces and also made it a fun and friendly atmosphere too!I whole heartily recommend Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute & Rehabilitation Center at San Marco! Dr. Steinberg, his staff, Jessica Bruno, Julia Guthart, Lily Condy, and the entire rehab staff exceeded my expectations and I believe they are very valuable for JOI to be #1 in the Jacksonville area!

I have never been treated so poorly and disrespected by what is supposed to be a professional doctor office. I was insulted and basically shooed away with no alternatives provided for my issue. Was told to take ibuprofen and buy a cane. I was humiliated and left still in pain. I would not recommend this practice to anyone.
