I scheduled an appointment for July 19 after getting a referral from the dentist who SENT MY RECORD OVER...20 days later...I was not told that this would only be an evaluation visit nor that I would have to make another appointment for a month later to actually have my tooth removed and that to have my tooth removed I would need a covid test...Had I been informed 20 days ago that I would have to make another appointment and get a covid test I would have been prepared..I have been in pain for more than a month

I was supposed to get my wisdom tooth removed on March 26,2021. Before they gave me the anesthesia they told me that the anesthesia would numb my mouth so that I could not feel anything. It felt like someone was drilling me in the mouth. I COULD FEEL ALL OF IT. When the oral surgeon started drilling in my mouth I started swinging and fighting because it was so painful. But, I was held down and the oral surgeon continued to extract the tooth. He ended up only removing two of my teeth because I was fighting them off of me due to the pain I felt. I couldnt open my eyes because it hurt so bad, when I was finally able to open my eyes it felt like tears of fire were rolling down my eyes. If the male oral surgeon has done it to me then, he more than likely has done it to other people. After the surgery I couldnt even talk because I was in so much pain so, I wrote down what happened. Once my mom saw what I wrote down she burst into tears and one of the nurses told me that I was upsetting my mother by telling her this . Even though I was in excruciating pain they sent me home without giving me anything I was told that I had to go to the pharmacy for medicine. I was in so much pain and blood was dripping everywhere. I am a minor and had to experience all of this. It took over 10 hours to stop the bleeding. The name of the oral surgeon is Matthew McLaughlin. He told my mother that what he did was basically necessary. The only reason that I am giving one star is because you cant give lower than that.

I am very happy with Dr. Salman and his team. I have had two surgical procedures due to my TMJ issues. Both procedures went very well and the post op care was excellent. I highly recommend this practice to my family and friends. Thank you Dr. Salman!

Its been over 2 months that I was referral here. I have been calling every week with no response. So if something is wrong with me and something happens at least I have documentation of no help from UF Health. Worst healthcare service ever.

Receptionist for Dr Schare (Charlie or Charlotte) is the RUDEST person My family has ever encountered. My mother (who just had her second and third brain surgery BACK TO BACK, unable to read or write) had an appointment this morning and the receptionist repeatedly interrupted and talked down to my mother and my father. Very unprofessional. She had my mother CRYING in their waiting room, for making her feel terrible for not being able to read or write. This lady didn’t understand their insurance information, so she spoke down to my family and had the worst attitude. If she would close her mouth long enough for the patient to speak then maybe she would understand what they are trying to explain. As a receptionist it is her job to welcome the customers and get them checked in and verify information. A receptionist is supposed to be pleasant and make your experience easier. She needs to be replaced IMMEDIATELY. No apology to my mother or father either. It’s hard enough going through daily life not being able to read or write all of a sudden due to brain surgeries. There is NO reason for a receptionist to speak to a patient this way or treat someone like any less of a human due to a medical condition. Absolutely furious about this situation. Hoping to see a change soon. The doctor was amazing and the rest of the staff was very comforting when they realized what was happening. This place needs a new receptionist immediately. Will check back in after her next appointment to see if anything has changed.

I came in for a consult for TMJ issues, the lady at the front was super nice. Then I went back to a room, and Dr. Salam told me that even though I had a loud popping noise in my jaw, even though I lost hearing in one ear, even though Ive been in extreme pain for almost a year, even though another doctor recommended surgery he wouldnt do anything. The only option he would do was Botox. I brought 11 months worth of doctors notes, months worth of a pain journal, proof of completion of 6 months of physical therapy, and two doctors recommendations for surgery he didnt look at any of it. I dont know where to go now, and now my only options are to pay over 300 dollars for Botox and hope that helps so I no longer pass out from pain, and maybe can eat a real meal, or stay in terrible pain until the damage is so terrible I might get lucky and be taken seriously.

Honestly Im very surprised there arent more google reviews for UF Jax OMFS. This place isn’t just a dental clinic, they also do major facial surgeries in addition to dental and also have a top residency program (so you get a lot of doctors reviewing your condition). Ive talked with folks from out of state who came simply because they know they are world-renowned for oral and maxillofacial surgery. Ive done my own research and know this is certainly the best place to go in Florida and possibly in all of the Southeast. Dr. Salman and Dr. Bunnell were both involved in my mandible reconstruction. I can’t thank them enough for getting my problem fixed before the condition became worse. They keep you well informed as to treatment plans, details of your procedures, risks, follow up care , etc. If you do your own homework in the area of OMFS, I’m sure you’ll find they’re an excellent choice. Highly recommended!
