In April 2018, was directed by Tricare to see pichelman as a second opinion for surgery. Apparently my asking certain questions, especially about what his neurosurgean specialties were. pichelman took an offense.My recommended surgery involved placement of a shunt within a cyst, that is inside the spinal cord.Pichelman recommended not to do this surgery. While asking why not, no explanations were given. His neurosurgery specialty is orthopedics, working on vertebral issues. Pichelman admitted he has NOT performed surgery on patients having syringomyelia, via placement of a shunt into the syrnix (cyst) within the dura of the spinal cord. What is medical opinion/decision was based off of remains a mystery.Apparently within less than 10 minutes after my appointment concluded, pichelman reported me to Mayo security for being in the possession of a gun. So I mossied down and sat in the lobby outside of the elevators, in order to watch and see how this unfolds. After passing me three times security approached and wanted to talk. Told them that it was not a problem. They started off with we had a report but we dont have all the details yet about you having a gun. I asked them if anyone had seen this gun and could describe it via color, size, shape, and so forth? Informed them that all I had was a letherman, flashlight and my pocket knife. Satisfied that their work was done, they advised that it was unsubstantiated and closed their inquiry. Seems unprofessional and a question of the character pertaining to this medical provider and institution whom hired him.Would not recommend this doctor under any circumstances.
