The Nurses are the sweetest, but the Doctors treat you like a number. My daughter has been coming here for years and Dr. Tolaymat always talked at us not to us. However, I accepted it as his bedside manner. However, we were told he was gone, and we would have a new doctor (Ilyas). Dr. Ilyas was nice, but he did not know my daughter’s information and never looked at it. He depended on the NP who was very rude to review it. He then began to give me the same speech that I have heard for five years from Dr. Tolaymat. When I brought up new concerns that I had mentioned to the NP (she brushed them off). He said it could be of concern and offered to send a referral for another specialist. Needless to say, I’ve already spoken to my daughter’s PCM and we will start making the trip to Gainesville where doctors see your kids as a person not a number.

I went to this doctor when my family and I first moved to Jacksonville at the age of nine (I am 19 now). My first impression of him was that he was rude and completely disrespectful. My mother went with me to see him and we explained my symptoms (pain in all joints, twist ankles repetitively, and sprained ankles constantly). Dr. Ilyias then told my mother and I, disregarding everything we said, that I should see a PSYCHIATRIST not a rheumatologist. I know well enough that your mood and mental well being effects your physical health. My mother and I then saw him again a few years later when I was around fourteen. My pain got considerably worse and had dislocated joints and subluxations daily. He just said that it is fibromyalgia (might I add that I was already diagnosed with this and this pain was different and much worse). My mother literally had to demand to get a name of a geneticist because he brushed off that my cousin was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which is genetic and has the exact same symptoms that I was experiencing. After more years of not knowing I was diagnosed with EDS by a geneticist at a different location. So my point is to not go to this doctor because he has no idea what he is doing. He is BY FAR THE WORST DOCTOR I HAVE EVER MET; and I have more doctors than my grandmother has ever had. Because of this man at the age of nine I thought that I was crazy and that the pain was in my head. Nobody, especially not a child, deserves to be told that they are crazy because of a doctors ignorance.

The office is a madhouse...19 floors up and vertigo at the top. If you suffer from Fibromyalgia this is not the rheumatoid specialist for you. They do not specialize in Fibro. At best you will get a rx for physical therapy and a return visit of I hope you get better. I was assured that there would be a holistic approach from UF and their team with this doctor quarterbacking the whole treatment. Best said by him we do not specialize in that here, we see 5 cases a year with little hope for success. Thanks for nothing doc. I will not be returning to this office for anything medically related.
