My husband and I care for my 96 year old mother who has dementia. Planning a vacation can be a daunting task when it comesto making sure my mother will be properly cared for while we are gone. That was until the day I walked into Starling of Mandarin and met Amy. Amy was very professional, personable and down to earth. Making the decision to have my mother stay in their Respite Care was an easy decision. Everything Amy explained to me about the care and servicesmy mother would receive were not only met but exceed my expectations. She totally understood about caring for a love one withdementia and the anxiety that comes with changing their surroundings even if it was only for a week or two. The staff in their Respite Care showed such loving care for my mother. They were very professional,courteous and knowledgeable about the care my mother needed. I can not wait to plan our next vacation because now I know the perfect placethat will care for my mother while we are gone Starling of Mandarin. Working with Starling at San Jose was a wonderful experience. The staff provided us with resources we didn’t know that existed. Their help throughout the entire process was vital, and they were a great resource!They also make sure they maintain the quality of living of their residents through daily activities and multiple events. In brief, Starling is a community that will care for your loved one like family!

Starling is a beautiful place for our aging community! From the quality of life they provide residents, to the exceptional dining, and the professional and compassionate staff - we are very fortunate to have Starling in Northeast Florida!

My father is a memory care patient at Starling during this Pandemic. Naturally, he has no understanding of what is occurring in our country right now. However, Starling has been absolutely amazing to work with given all the new protocols. The patients and staff have been regularly tested. They have been very cautious about keeping everybody healthy and safe and it is working. My father had a birthday during this time and Amy arranged a drive-by party. We have also been able to visit via Google Duo or Facetime, in order to assure Dad that we have not forgotten him. Step by step, we have been kept abreast of everything. I absolutely love Starling! My only regret is that they were not open when my Mother was needing memory care. Thank you, Starling for giving us peace of mind, and for a job well done!

I cannot speak highly enough about this facility. My father has been in the memory care at Starling San Jose for over a year. The staff is friendly, courteous, professional and caring. One of the best reasons I like Starling is because they have a wide variety of daily planned activities to keep the residents engaged along with live music on occasion and then there are the bus excursions to outside activities such as restaurants, movies, bowling etc. or just doing some sight seeing. It is a beautiful facility and reminds me of a hotel when you walk in. The food is very good and they have buffets on the holidays and special events so you can enjoy a nice meal and share time with your family members. I moved my mother from another facility. The difference is night and day. Eating 12 hour window. Clean and fresh all over. Great staff. My mom is in assisted living with a 1 bedroom apt. She is happy and that is what counts.

Wonderful Community. Ive been visiting my aunt here for over a year. To be honest, care wasnt that great about a year ago. Now...much much improved! They are making good on promises to strengthen the community, both in care and in the general environment. The new nurse and Director are very compassionate and always available to talk. Lots of new residents coming in, all seem very happy to be here. Thank you!

Starling at San Jose is the best place to work. They have the best and most professional staff of any place I have worked. I can honestly say that every staff member treats our residents as if they were a member of their own family.

Beautiful facility! Both of my parents were a part of this community in Memory Care and AL! The leadership of Megan Kennedy has created an atmosphere of excellence. They continue to pursue great staff, wonderful care and a compassionate and family environment! Wonderful community!

Starling at San Jose is honestly one the best companies Ive ever worked for, aside from the luxurious and welcoming atmosphere, there are staff members who are just professional, caring and compassionate towards each other, but most importantly towards our residents. Our residents is our number one priority and each and every staff member, from administration to our care team ensures that our residents comfort, safety and livelihood remains paramount, and thats what I love the most about this company!! We are a family!!

My expectations were high; but they were exceeded ten-fold! Warm staff with smiles from ear to ear, fantastic food, endless incredibly well planned events from simple activities to events that were clearly professionally planned! Both passion and prideshow through the activities & events along with the care that is given to each and every resident. Additionally Starling at San Jose is classy, clean and professionally decorated. 10 stars!

Starling at San Jose has beautiful views of Goodby’s Creek. I love to sit in the gazebo and watch the ducks and look for different bird varieties. Starling has some of the most caring and friendly staff I have ever seen in an assisted living facility.They have a very liberal transportation policy and try very hard to accommodate religious and social outings as well as medical trips.We have a very full activities calendar. Our enrichment coordinator is very open to any ideas the residents bring to her. You will be missing out on a wonderful opportunity if you don’t consider starling at San Jose when you’re looking for an assisted living facility.

Lovely place to live! clean, well appointed, lovely staff, beautiful grounds

My mom lived there for several months. She fell one evening and remained on the floor for over 14 hours. She rang her call button continually and no one ever came. From her fall she ended up at River Garden for rehab and they were amazing. Don’t let the name change or beautiful exterior fool you. This organization is unorganized, under staffed and a true detriment to its residence.

I moved my mom into this Beautiful ALF. She said she felt like Cinderella ! Brian the Executive Director and the entire staff are so friendly and caring. As soon as I waked in the door I knew this was the place my mom was to be :)

The bar has been set by Watercrest Senior living! They also have physicians coming to do house calls! Amazing!

Place is beautiful. People are really nice. However, negatives are that the Directv package that they have is awful. No option to add movie channels and no High Definition broadcast. The internet is also very spotty and doesnt reach some of the rooms. Would love to see them improve this to match everything else there that is top notch.

Went to apply as a nurse and was rudely treated like “the help”. And it smelled!!! Sure I dodged a bullet. So rude.

Management is unfair and rude. Cant keep staff, fired 17 people in 2 month period, so they hire agency then hold staff accountable for whatever agency staff doesnt do.
