Ill try to keep it brief and to the point. After your appointment, the business manager will swipe your credit card and balk at giving you an invoice describing services rendered. Although Cayuga Family Dental is in-network with the Cornell Program for Healthy Living, they prefer to charge you directly rather than bill insurance so that they can squeeze more out of you than the fee negotiated with the insurer (i.e., MetLife). Dont say I didnt warn you. Stay as far away as possible. It is much better to go to an out-of-network provider and take the trouble to file insurance claims yourself than to work with this provider who refuses to bill insurance if they can get more out of you. And yes: they are eager to perform as many procedures on you as youll let them. Shameful.

Dont go here. I wish I had read the reviews below. They will, in fact, book you for services and then claim that your insurance will not pay *after* the services have been performed. I put the charges on Care Credit, but I dont know what ill do when the payment is due. I dont have the money.

The worse dentist experience in my 40 plus years. Rude unprofessional receptionist, the dentist discuss prices when you are in the chair thinking you are covered by insurance. The use COVID as an excuse to give mediocre cleaning and service, if you refuse or object to the high priced service offered they are upset and vindictive.

Really bad/ unethical service!!! I had the worst experience at Cayuga Family Dental. These people take advantage of those who cannot afford to go to a good dentist, like patients on medicaid. This dentist drilled and filled a healthy tooth. I didnt even know that she had done this until later in the evening when I opened my mouth to brush my teeth and discovered all of my premolars had grey fillings! I was shaking at the realization of what had happened. I went in the next day to complain she claimed she could only fill the one with a cavity if the one in front of it was also drilled. What nonsense is this?! ?! I have never heard of such a thing. Beware, if you have medicaid, she will insist that you do all sorts of procedures that you dont need, oh your insurance will pay for it, take advantage of it. Better to find another dentist.

I dont recommend this practice. Every time we have an appointment they call us to reschedule. The last time I was at the practice my kids were not able to see a dentist. I requested that the next appt. my kids see a dentist in addition to get a cleaning with a hygienist, etc. The person on the phone could not guarantee a time when there would be a dentist there upon a reschedule date. I dont get it- its covid times and this is covered under child health plus. Oh and one more thing- they tried to sell their gimmicky toothpaste that prevents cavities. I am not a fan and do not recommend. Its all just a really weird way to run a business.

I legit had the best experience I have ever had at the dentist. I needed several cavities addressed. I have always been nervous. The dentist did not use numbing agent, and filled several of my cavities with no pain. I am no longer afraid to go to the dentist! Wonderful dentist, wonderful staff.

Dr. Gupta takes her time to get things right! I have had a lot of sketchy dentists in my past, and she is a breath of fresh air. Very informative and professional, and she takes her time to do things as they should be done — No rush-jobs here. I am really impressed with the whole staff. Proceed with confidence!

I dont know why people gave this office/ dentist such poor reviews. Ive gone for over 2 years without issue. Efficient and always able to get in quickly for an appointment. Only downside so far is no Friday appointments.

Early on in adulthood, I rarely took care of my teeth properly. Once I was older and mature enough to have gained dental insurance, this place was #1 regarding my insurance. So I went. After my cleaning, I was told I had 5-6 cavities, all of which required minimal drilling/filling, to be done over 5-6 different sessions. I did the first 1-2, they were done without anesthetic, which was uncomfortable but not unbearable. Thats not really the point. But I got this sense in my gut that these procedures were unnecessary, and done for monetary benefit.I didnt get my teeth cleaned (or see a dentist) for about 3 years. I had moved elsewhere, and Id been taking better care of myself in the interim so it was easy to put off. When I finally went to the dentist in my new locale, they did x-rays, deeply cleaned my teeth, and told me I had no cavities.None.So seriously, if you have a common insurance, only go to this place if you legitimately need work on all of your teeth or have Munchausens syndrome and want a bunch of work done. I cant speak to how good they do a root canal, but I can tell you that in every case, theyre after your money.

Dr. Gupta has been such a kind, wise, and patient doctor, and her staff have all been so friendly and communicative. From Dr .Gupta answering her cell in am emergency to Kathy at the front desk answering our many calls to the office manager Need an assisting our payment process, and hygienists answering our questions with smiles, everyone has helped make an inevitably stressful process clear and simple.Over the past year we have been through 4 diffefent insurance plans and gone to even more of dentists in this area. Cayuga Family Dental has been our bedrock throughout this process accepting every plan we have and giving us the proper advice to make informed decisions. Dr. Gupta knows the industry and provides descriptive references to quality dentists in the area for any specialist work we have needed done.

Went there a few months ago as a new patient. They said i needed 4 fillings and 2 crowns. That was weird since my last checkup from previous dentist was like 5 months ago and i was fine. Went to a private practice with a real dentist. I needed a single filling which i had taken care of there. Theyre trying to scare people who are financially not able to afford to go elsewhere and take advantage of them. They also Will Not transfer your documents to another dentist and will take 2 weeks if you request a copy of your dental history to go elsewhere. But hey if you want someone to try to push an infomercial quality teeth restoring cream they got you covered! Youll See if you go there trust me.

This particular office was referred to me through my insurance and I have to admit I was a little wary based on the online ratings. Well, I have been delightfully surprised by the friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism at Cayuga Family Dental. I’m having a hard time imagining why this particular office doesn’t have a higher rating. It’s a pleasant, modern, welcoming place and after another genuinely kind and human conversation with the office about my care, I felt compelled to stick up for them and give my honest, overwhelmingly positive feedback. I’m not giving 5 stars bc of a particularly harried technician and bc I’m still waiting to see if a larger concern I’ve already verbalized was brushed aside or rightfully recognized as a non-issue, but I have hope we’ll figure that out without much pain, so to speak.

My husband went for teeth cleaning but they did alot more things to him, including x-raying his head. he was too polite to protest even when these procedures were not in his appointment. on top of that, he had to pay for the additional procedures out of pocket. unwanted and unnecessary x-ray!! i was so angry, i reported what i considered to be a malpractice to the dental association of New York (or some office which handled complaints against dentists, i dont remember exactly as this happened about a decade ago) and my report should be in the file about this dentist. too bad there was no google review then.

Very pleased with staff, kind receptionist and hygienist. Dr. Gupta is an angel and is very conscious about not keeping her patients waiting...in fact, I hardly had to wait at all (arrived 20 minutes early to my appointment).Went in for wisdom teeth pain and she helped by prescriptions OTC pain relievers and antibiotics (food impact) and I felt immediate relief within 48 hours. Highly recommend!

This office may look nice but the attention to detail by the doctors themselves is lacking. They drilled a bunch of superficial holes and filled them but completely missed the undercutting cavity in my rear molar. When I let them know they rescheduled me, and spent all of 5 min filling it, but they DID NOT clean or drill before putting the filling in, and it fell out within 3 days. I have had several other fillings from them fall out and make it difficult to floss. Pay for your teeth if you can.

Went to get a referral to have a tooth pulled. When I got there they took me in and did x-rays, than cleaned the tarter off my teeth. Saw the dentist for 5 minutes. Went back out to see if I could a referral the recipient told me I had to do that myself. Two days after this appointment, woke up left side of face swelled. Tooth absess. Will not recommend this dentist to anybody, and sure will not be going back.

I would sooner entrust my teeth to a monkey than to Gupta and her team of incompetent goons. The medication that she prescribed for my mouth pain was totally ineffective, and when I called the office to schedule another appointment, her receptionist barked at me like a rude dog and told me that Im fine, and that I should wash my mouth out with salt water to alleviate my pain. The doctor at the ER, where I had to go after Gupta refused to see me (she was too busy, I assume, doing teeth cleanings to see a patient in desperate need of treatment), told me that she is a fake dentist, and that I should stay away from her bogus practice. I am passing the word along.

1. Getting an itemized bill required following up multiple times over several weeks, but when I did, I learned that they had overcharged me.2. My appointment was for a cleaning, but they let me show up even though the hygienist was out because they wanted to do the dental exam. Had to return for the cleaning.3. Told me I needed three fillings that the dentist I saw just three months ago did not mention and said the one the previous dentist told me to get fixed didnt need anything. I didnt know who to trust, so I followed her advice, but then had to return to have one of the fillings fixed a week or so later.

Reading other reviews I was nervous but after being a patient for over a year I can say there alright. Everyone is kind and respectful every visit. Im sure they are not perfect but I honestly cant say I have ever had a great dentist. The fact is that theyre good enough as a dentist and if you need a specialist then go to one! They are general dentistry and are generally good at what they do. So stop haten.

I will not go back there.1)Gave me an estimate of $250 - charged me $5002)Very expensive (500$ for 2 fillings replacement done in 30 minutes - of course...)Im even not sure my fillings truly needed to be replaced. No pain at all before the procedure and now its a bit uncomfortable. And yesterday, I received a letter of termination of our dental relationship.I guess its not ok to comment that they gave you an estimate and charged the double and asked questions about your insurance coverage... !!! Unbelievable!!!

Today I developed a new view for this dental office! I was getting two fillings done today and I made the mistake of not eating properly. In mid operation I began feeling light headed (borderline passed out.) Dr. Gupta and her assistants jumped into action doing everything in their power to make sure I was comfortable. Now I’m still a little afraid of the dentist no matter who’s doing the work, but because of today I won’t go anywhere else and now feel completely comfortable in her care. I’ve noticed people only right reviews when things go wrong, but never share experiences like the one today. Thank you again for you caring heart and support.

Forget about the treatment - consider yourself lucky if you are not assaulted! I should have done due diligence before making an appointment: as it turns out, the office has an established public record of shady practices. The receptionist was friendly, but a bit jumpy. She deferred all questions about treatment to the doctor, not even bothering to write down whether this was a dental emergency. I had to insist on seeing the doctor first, because a hygienist promptly showed up and started talking about cleaning and, frankly, I had my doubts whether they can even provide appropriate treatment. The office seems to be specializing mainly in cleaning, and the one doctor apparently does not perform many standard procedures, such as extractions and gum treatments. After a bit chaotic experience of checking in, instead of performing X-rays to advise me on the treatment, the hygienist sent me to a PCP because I was not comfortable checking no for some pre-existing conditions and did not remember whether I had an antibiotic pre-treatment on my previous dental visits decades ago. She kept talking about cleaning, even though I clearly explained that what I needed was filling and crown work done, first to the receptionist, then to the doctor, and finally to her. While on my way out of the exam room I was confronted by an Asian male who works at the office (office manager, according to the police). He seemed particularly incensed when I observed that its unlikely I would come back if they refused to treat me today. I only escaped physical confrontation by warning him that I would call 911 if he continues to assault me and running out into the reception area. He screamed Do that, let us have a police officer here. So I made a 911 call and waited. The man continued to hover around the reception desk (separated by a door), throwing me menacing looks. State police showed up, talked to the office staff first and chalked it all up to a ``misunderstanding. They told me that the office either is unable to or does not want to treat me, which is fine, because I had no good expectations about their services by that point. And who would? I was glad to be out of there with no physical damage and having only wasted one hour.I shared my experience with a neighborhood merchant, who told me that the office has bad reputation and the man who nearly physically assaulted me has lost a professional license in Cortland county previously and had to relocate. If true, that may explain some of the strange goings-on.

Terrible billing practices, office manager refused to bill my secondary insurance (even though the office is on the provider list) forcing me to pay out of pocket, would not give me a copy of my bill until the insurance processes the claim ( still waiting for the bill after 2 months). Dr. Gupta was dismissive, rushed through her exam and did not notice that the tooth in question was cracked down to the root (as was found by a more reputable local dentist). Will NOT go back.
