For some reason I cant edit my other review, however, I just wanted to update.I have seen Dr. Shaw for about ten years now. I cannot express to you how much this man saved my life.He is not clinical or cold, not judgmental or dreary... he radiates empathy and love. He cares about his patients on a personal level and it shows. He stopped taking new patients years ago to focus on the people he has. Unlike many psychiatrists I have seen, they will cycle people in and out without a care. Not Dr. Shaw. He will listen to you, avoid heavy duty drugs if possible, and genuinely do his best to make sure you feel better.Oh, and if he sees this - youre not allowed to retire, sorry. I make the rules.

Ive been seeing Dr. Shaw for maybe 10 years now. Hes the best psychiatrist a patient could hope for. He doesnt want you to be on tons of medications and will work with you to get off medicine you feel is not doing any good for you. Other doctors Ive had in the past always threw more medications onto the list despite my desire and explicit statements that I felt the medicine was doing more harm than good. Dr. Shaw is the exception.Dr. Shaw really does care about his patients, more-so than most any other doctor Ive ever seen for any ailment. When it comes to psychiatry, its incredibly difficult to find a doctor that truly cares about you as an individual sadly. Dr. Shaw is like a psychologist and psychiatrist rolled into one. He feels more like a friend to me than a doctor, which is a good thing. I trust him well enough to not withhold details or flat out lie about something out of fear of what might happen. He provides the best support he can possibly provide, no matter what it takes.

I always have an excellent experience every visit with Dr. Shaw. He listens to me with care and compassion. I would recommend Dr. Shaw to any one of my friends or family members if they were in need of care. I must also mention his receptionist, Janet. She always greats me by name and goes out of her way to accomadate my needs. I would like to say a big Thank you to you both!!! Brenda

Dr. Shaw is AMAZING. I have had anxiety and depression problems since I was a kid and more recently was diagnosed with bipolar. Ive been through several crappy, uncaring, and unintelligent psychiatrists before I found Dr. Shaw.He doesnt just listen to you, make notes, and then throw pills at you. He REALLY listens and CARES. He is so compassionate and lovely, I think the world of him.He understands that to understand someones mental health, you must know them on a personal level so that you know the difference and can better diagnose.He makes you feel cared for and taken care of. He wants to know whats going on in your life, how youre really feeling, and is very thorough.I cant imagine seeing a different doctor. Truly the best! And very reasnably priced!

Great Doctor. Very personable, understanding, sympathetic. Has been a real help.
