I have been a member for the last 5 months and recently competed at the Strongest in SoCal meet.I have had nothing but an amazing time at this gym and the coaching got me to a first place finish. Super professional and knowledgeable staff. The coaches are easy to work with and communicate extremely fast whenever you need something.Zack runs a tight ship and the companies values are on display with how the staff conducts themselves. Professionalism is the number one priority amongst the staff along with end user experience.Just like with anything you give it your all and you’ll receive the benefit of their knowledge.I also attended the most recent two day seminar at the gym. The staff expertly demonstrated their knowledge and dedication to the sport over the duration of the course.I look forward to seeing how the gym grows, solid group of individuals.

Very easy to get in and out, all automated sign up for drop in. Plenty of excellent powerlifting equipment, from specialty barbells to competition racks and platforms. Also a really well equipped bodybuilding type room with all the stuff you need. Great atmosphere, friendly members, clean. No locker room, but that’s not what you come here for! Will return next time I’m in town.

I have been coming to this gym since it first opened in early 2018. I have been strength training since 2014 and competing in powerlifting since 2018. At the time, I was too financially strapped to buy into coaching, but would drop in about 4 times a month. By the next year, I was fully bought into coaching and coming to the gym regularly. In the time since I began training there, I have seen the gym expand from a skinny warehouse into now its third iteration with manyfold more space and equipment. The hundreds of clients are a testament to the high quality equipment, the highly personal coaching, and the strong sense of community. There is virtually every piece of powerlifting equipment you could consider, and plenty to go around for everyone even at peak hours; from Texas Deadlift Bars, to Ghost Combo Racks, youd be hard pressed to find that something was missing; even if so, the management is generally very accommodating and has bought new equipment on request on multiple occasions. While most powerlifting gyms run limited hours, this one is open 24/7.The staff is always communicative and accommodating, and the coaching feels specialized, complete with in-depth virtual assessments for every training session and exercise selection tailored to my own experience level. For reference, I deadlift close to 700 pounds at ~205 bodyweight, so I am not an amateur by any means; that being said, even if you are relatively inexperienced, I have witnessed many of the clients newer to lifting blow my progress out of the water when compared to my own training history at their level.I have not once felt disrespected by the staff; in fact, I have grown to consider many of them as friends. Through my time here, I have met many members from many walks of life with various training goals, experience levels, and clout, and have nearly always been pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, friendliness, and sense of belonging that people here always seem to cultivate. There are even out-of-gym events from time-to-time to encourage members to meet and connect.Zack, the owner, has been in this space for a long time, and his commitment and attention to overall quality stemming from his passion is evident in every aspect of the gym. Hes always engaged in an active dialogue in the community and is always receptive and accommodating to our thoughts, comments, and needs. Also need to give a shoutout to my coach, Juan, who has a strong grasp on the matter and has really helped fast-track me (and seemingly all of his clients) towards my goals in unprecedented time! There arent a lot of great gyms for general strength training and powerlifting. If youre looking for an oasis in a desert of shoddy commercial gyms with needless amenities, low quality equipment, and overcrowding, then I could not recommend this place enough. Its at least worth a drop in.

If you are trying to get strong this is the place to train. They got everything you need for strength training and all the equipment seems to be really nicely taken care of. Everyone here is trying to get their workouts in and leave no more people hanging out on racks and making you stand around like you look lost and the people I bumped into seem to all be real nice and humble even though they lift superhuman like weights. As of now this is in my opinion the best gym to train at.

From the time I joined every employee and member has been kind and helpful in everyway. The equipment is perfect and they offer a nice drink and snack selection. Without a doubt, one of the best powerlifting gyms out there. I can wholeheartedly say that this gym provides everything needed to progress within the sport. Plenty of high quality equipment, great community of supportive lifters who are always willing to offer a spot or words of encouragement. SoCal has managed to run this facility at a high level throughout a pandemic which left many other gyms struggling. A testament to their incredible competency and togetherness. Can’t say I have anything negative to say about this gym as I’ve trained here for almost a year and a half. Keep expanding and growing as one of the top powerlifting gyms around!

Not only is it a great gym equipment wise and size, but the staff and community just create an atmosphere where the only outcome is for you to grow as an individual. I cant say enough good things about SoCal Powerlifting - management, coaches, and clients are all top notch. Ive been coached by Shelby for 2 months now and I am writing this review just 4 days after my very first powerlifting meet. Prior to SoCal, I was an a cookie cutter online PL program for 6 months - I upped my strength, but my form was mediocre. After finding SoCal Powerlifting I decided to invest in myself and my goals and I am so grateful I made the jump! Having a coach actively provide feedback on my form was a game changer and allowed me to crush PRs and have a 9/9 first meet. Im primarily remote, but when I do go into the gym everyone is SO helpful and encouraging. I love the SoCal Powerlifting family and I cant wait to see where I am a year from now!!

I LOVE SoCal Powerlifting. Before coming here I was going to a generic gym and thought it was fine. But since coming to SoCal Powerlifting, I can say with confidence that normal generic big gyms have nothing on SoCal Powerlifting. At SCP you find a great community of people that are always willing to help, great equipment that seems/feels brand new, and great coaches that help you meet your goals. Every lift that I have been doing for the past six months on my own has gotten exponentially better and made more progress in the last 3 weeks at SCP then any progress made in the last 6 months. I cannot recommend this gym enough! If you are thinking about trying them out, definitely do so.

Im really glad I found this place. The gym is clean and has plenty of equipment. You never have to wait for a squat rack, which was always the most stressful part of going to a gym for me. I also love their business model. You have a trainer that builds a program for you after a handful of personal trainer sessions. You then submit videos of your lifts for the trainer to give you feedback on. And you meet with the trainer at least once a month during a workout session. Its a lot more affordable than hiring a full-time personal trainer. But you still get the benefit of a professional guiding your training and correcting your form. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in improving their lifting abilities.

I was an open gym member in 19. And then a coached mem Feb 21-July 21. My original reasons for leaving in 19 centered around the rising cost of membership (~100/month open gym, blocked out of the 5pm-9pm training window mon-fri.Set to rise in cost), as well as noticing the gym was developing a clique-like environment. In 21 I returned and signed up for coaching, excited to train for a powerlifting meet. To summarize: my coaching experience was 10/10, and I highly recommend Juan Sanchez if you can get coaching from him without signing up for a membership at this gym. Cost ~$230/month; 1 in person session per month. The reason for my 1 star review:Throughout my training other coaches took it upon themselves to voice their opinions of how I trained (As a first time coached member, I definitely went off program for some fun PRs, which is within my right, although not advisable if you’re trying to utilize your coaching at 100%). After months of unsolicited feedback on social media and in person I took to instagram to set a boundary (without mentioning any one’s names, or the gym) that my training is my own, and I don’t want unsolicited comments or criticism from anyone other than the coach I pay. What resulted from that was every coach and dozens of members flocking to my social media to stalk and harass me for the next few weeks.Within 1 day I was in comm. with the owner Zack B. In the texts exchanged I asked him to hold his coaches accountable, expressed the effect on my mental health, and made it clear this was inappropriate conduct. His response was victim blaming, he provided no solutions or promises to put a stop to the harassment from his employees.Within 48 hours I received a cease and desist email/letter from his lawyer’s (Melissa G Fulgencio of Uplift Law - who is also a member of the gym) paralegal. In the letter they terminated my membership with no warning on the grounds that because I wanted the coaches at the gym to stop harassment, I was in violation of their contract since it would prevent their coaches from intervening in the event that I was injured at the gym or needed help. But the most infuriating part is that they used the detrimental effect the harassment had on my mental health as being in violation of the contract due to:“ While SoCal clearly has within its agreement a clause requiring you to seek competent medical advice for the physically and mentally challenging environment, you have also agreed to and acknowledged that training at SoCal has its inherent risks of physical injuries or other damages. You agreed and affirmed that you do not suffer from any disability that would prevent or limit participation in physical activities at SoCal.At the end of the letter they demanded:“You are hereby notified that SoCal has terminated your membership effective July 9, 2021. In effect, you will not be able to compete at SoCal’s upcoming August 7, 2021, powerlifting meet. Accordingly, SoCal, on behalf of Zack, demands that you:1. Immediately cease and desist in either initiating or maintaining communications with the employees at SoCal;2. Refrain from attributing SoCal as a place detrimental to your mental health; and3. Refrain from attending the SoCal powerlifting meet dated August 7, 2021.”**UPSA DIDNT uphold this ban upon contact.final statements:1) SoCal PL has created an environment without boundaries between staff and members. In current and present cases where members have not been to the liking of staff, this resulted in harassment.2) if you have any mental health issues, do not sign up here. Depression, anxiety, ptsd, etc. all of it will be a loophole for them to cancel your membership under their logic if you somehow demand accountability or to not be treated in unfair or negative ways.3) while the equipment is amazing, and select coaches have amazing knowledge, the risk you take in signing up for a membership is not worth it. Expect to step in to a gym fueled by favoritism, bullying, disregard for anyone who doesn’t have a large social media following, and hostility.

I wasn’t sure how I would fit in considering I’m not a powerlifter, but everyone welcomed me with open arms. I emailed the manager and within 15 minutes he replied back. This hasn’t been the first time either. The manager was so professional when I signed up. Of course, he asked if I needed a trainer, it’s a business, but he definitely didn’t try to push things on me. This review is longggg overdue! Ive been with SoCal Powerlifting for two years now (one year through their online coaching and one year in the gym) and I cant picture my life without it now.As someone who has never fit into any fitness atmosphere, I was very intimidated to start powerlifting and get a coach. I was causally lifting with my husband at the time at 24 hour fitness, but I knew I wanted more. And Im SO happy I found the courage to reach out and hire a coach. My first year through online coaching was amazing (shoutout to coach Alex G.!). No matter who your coach is here, youre in amazing hands. They all are beyond helpful and great at what they do!After all the gym shut downs due to Covid, I decided to make the switch to in-person gym membership. Again, I was very intimidated to come into a gym where it seemed like everyone knew what they were doing and EVERYONE is so strong, like seriously. But yet again, it was one of the best decisions! The equipment at SoCal is a major game changer, theres SO many squat racks/platforms and everything is geared specifically for powerlifting. The community and the atmosphere is amazing and inspiring. I am happy to call this place my second home.Ive even started nutrition coaching through SoCal (another shoutout to coach Kimmy!), and it has been beyond helpful! SoCals memberships are designed to help you stay committed and succeed. And between the superior coaching, great equipment with constant upgrades, and amazing community, I really feel like I am getting my moneys worth. It really is a one stop shop for everything you need to reach your powerlifting goals - and have fun while youre doing it!If youre thinking of getting into powerlifting and you live in OC, this is your place!! You will never meet nicer people and a more welcoming environment. 10/10 recommend.

I’m 8 weeks into training here at Socal Powerlifting with coach Alex B and I’m absolutely loving it here. The gym environment and coaching are top notch and the 24/7 gym keeps me consistent despite my long shifts at work. Instead of talking about my strength gain numbers, I’m going to give an example of what the training has done. The other day I tagged along with my gf to her nannying job and there’s these two kids that always want to grapple with me and ask me questions like what’s my favorite dinosaur. I gently rag doll these kids of course. But, the next morning I returned to jiu jitsu after being off the mats for about a month and after 5 or 6 6min rounds with mostly white belts I had a similar amount of fatigue as I did grappling kids from the other day. With no changes in my skill level and maybe even a regression from being away from Bjj training, I feel that my enhanced fitness from SoCal Powerlifting has already shortened gap between grappling kids and minimally trained adult. Cheers to ragdolling grown adults in the near future as my fitness and skill levels improve!

1. A very good training place with great equipment. People and coaches are very nice.2. It is very suitable for self training, but not suitable for coaching. The plan they made for you is not really personal customization, but a set of templates suitable for almost anyone. You will make progress, but there will also be a great risk of injury. You don’t know when it might be hurt because of this plan. Of course, they will adjust the number of training days or training capacity according to your needs, making you feel that this is a private customized plan.3.If you want to train here, you must buy with the coaching.4. Almost no one wears a mask, and the number of people who train together often exceeds the maximum number. If you decide to train here, youd better pray not to catch COVID-19, because the ICU of the California hospital is currently full and no longer accepting patient treatment.Good Gyms suggest around this area: Exceed Performance, Ernd Performance Center, Self made Training Facility. What I said may be a bit one-sided, but this is what I personally experienced, and I hope to give you some deep information before you make any decision.

They will use this app to make your plan. You can write your training weight, capacity at any time. It is very convenient as a reference for the next training. I love it. I trained here for 4 months. After I terminated my membership, the owner locked my account arbitrarily. I couldnt see the plans and training records I purchased and wrote anymore. I just wondering why the things I spend money to buy don’t belong to me in the end. But that’s ok. Perhaps that’s your unique business running method.Just a small reminder to people who want to train here in the future, even through you spend money, you own nothing when you leave.

My wife has been going to this gym for about a year, and has seen some major progress in her lifting. The coaches have an excellent way of breaking things down to help people understand how to make their lifts more efficient. I decided to join this gym and so far, I have been loving the atmosphere and coaching. It has been helpful and I am excited to see where Im at in a few months!

Everything that you need for a powerlifting gym, clean and full of equipment. Not sure about bodybuilding stuff as I only trained with the barbells.

I always found weightlifting to be intimidating. I was the type of girl who avoided the weights unless I was using a weight for lunges. I was definitely stepping outside my comfort zone when I signed up for SoCal Powerlifting. I signed up with my sister so that we would hold each other accountable. We signed up for the coaching program because we had no clue what we were doing. It is safe to say, We Are Hooked! This gym has an amazing staff and a great facility. Other members are friendly and will help you if you need it. Everyone is very respectful and I felt comfortable being there in no time. It is now the highlight of my day! This gym is my happy place! After a long day at work dealing with frustrating people, all your outside stresses and worries disappear as you focus on your lift. Since I am on the coaching program, I dont even need to focus or worry on what type of workout I should do... Coach Shelby programs it for me! My only regret is that I did not sign up sooner.

SoCal Powerlifting is by far the best atmosphere of any gym I’ve been into. The staff and coaches are unbelievably knowledgeable and create a place where everyone wants everyone else to succeed. I’ve been looking for a gym that feels like a community for a long time and I finally found it.

If you like powerlifting you will love this gym. The coaching they offer is amazing. Alex B is my coach and hes incredibly good at communicating just right way so I can understand what to do to follow a cue. The system they have to coordinate programming is awesome. Everybody in the gym is friendly and always willing to give you a spot. Its a place where people are their because they love and enjoy it so you can count on it having a great atmosphere. Couldnt recommend it more!

I used to train jiu-jitsu with the owner of this gym, Zack. I worked out here a few times during my time in Irvine and everyone that I encountered at the gym was very nice and it felt like they were a big family. If I didnt move, I would definitely train there.

Really love this gym! Clean, professional, and the energy in the room says one thing: time to WORK! Everyone who works out here is clearly focused on their goals. No bad energy, just good vibes and hard workers. I love being around that! I’m a body builder, not a power lifter, but I still feel welcomed by all and inspired to get in that work

I reached out to SoCal Powerlifting at the beginning of the month via Instagram to ask about operations once they were allowed to open. I spoke with Alex, we set a time to meet and he gave me a tour of the gym and all the information I needed to get started. This morning was my first time working out here and it was great. They have everything you would need and its all very good quality equipment. It is a clean and organized gym, the best place I have ever seen. I havent been in a gym since the start of the pandemic closed everything but it felt great to be back and in such an awesome facility.

Im not one to write reviews, but this place is awesome! Not only is the coaching spot on (Thanks Alex!) but the facility itself provides endless variations of lifts. I have been most surprised by the camaraderie of the members who are great to be around and supportive of each other regardless of how much you can lift. Though focused on the primary power lifts, Ive found my other outside activities have benefited greatly. Thanks again for a great gym, great coaching and great membership!

Clean facilities! Im an early riser so I get my workouts in the early hours of the morning making the 24 hr access to a private gym a welcome feature. There is never more than 5 people there so there is no shortage of equipment. Everything is organized, no more searching for a 2.5lb cookie dish when trying to inch over a PR. Squat racks, benches, deadlift area, plus some free weights, its everything you need to get your workouts done.Best gym Ive worked out in since I started picking things up and putting them down 13 years ago.

Honestly great gym. It has all you need to get a good workout in with loads of barbells, squat and bench press racks, as well as fully equipped with dumbbells. Its also open 24/7 which is nice for those that like to workout early like me. Also not to mention that the owner and juan, whose a trainer, are both great help and friendly when getting me started.

Found this gym because at the time I had no choice but to look for another gym, and I’d have to say I’m definitely surprised by how great this gym is. It’s definitely built for powerlifting but still has some other bodybuilding equipment so it caters to a larger audience. This gym is great!

This review is for the open gym so I cant comment on the coaching.Great, no-nonsense gym. Facilities have basically everything you could possibly want for lifting: kilo plates, competition bars, lots of combo racks, GHR, belt-squat, etc. Everyone is here to lift seriously and progress so its a good environment if you care about powerlifting. Though, the gym is more oriented to having coaching clients, not necessarily being just a gym.The open gym price is a bit higher than expected and requires you to sign a contract with cancellation fees (comparing to Socal gyms with no contract: Zoo Culture, OC Strength Club, and Boss Barbell). That being said, such well-equipped gyms are few and far between so if thats what they gotta do to stay afloat then so be it.

24 hr access is amazing especially for early AM lifters where you’ll have the gym practically to yourself. Calibrated kilo weights and competition racks/benches have made a huge difference in my training over a commercial gym and worth the membership alone. There are all kinds of barbells, resistance bands, weights, chains, chalk and more to use at your disposal for training variations! Everyone is super friendly and willing to help if you’re not familiar with an exercise or need spotting/form check. Really enjoy coming here and can’t recommend it enough.

I came in with absolutely no experience and really just wanted to learn how to lift and get a little stronger along the way. I was set up with a coach and a program and have had an amazing experience ever since. Everyone is so supportive of each other and you can tell the coaches genuinely care about their clients. SoCal Powerlifting is more than just a gym, it’s a community and I can’t imagine going anywhere else.
