I usually go to another optical store and decided to try Walmarts. My experience has not been good. I came in three times trying to get a price for a pair of glasses and each time they told me they were busy. I could look but they couldnt help me. Unfortunately they dont realize that I spend over $500 on my glasses and lost a sale. Glad I found out before a purchase....because I could only imagine how many hoops you have to jump through if your glasses were incorrect. How is Walmart in business with poor customer service? Perhaps take a number or make a appointment? They havent offered that to me.

I’ve been coming here for years, I’m not a picky person most of the time and don’t consider myself difficult to deal with as a customer. I’ve had good experiences with one of the doctors, but the majority of the time, the rest of the staff has treated me badly as a customer, and today was the final time I will be going here because of the initial conversation I had with one of the staff members. I do not recommend this location.

Dr Cudworth and the desk lady that helped me out, Susie are absolutely phenomenal! Service was EXCELLENT! Been coming every 2 years for new prescription eye glasses, they have yet to disappoint!

Great first experience and eye exam. I had my first eye exam here and the people were polite and professional. I felt like they just wanted to help and I got the best price I could without vision insurance. And my glasses arrive earlier than expected! Would recommend.

The Walmart employee who was working inside the vision center told me nobody is allowed to come in or try on frames due to covid-19. I was surprised because earlier that week the optometrist had let me try on frames. I told her this but she insisted I was not allowed in and she will call me when the restriction is lifted. An hour later, as I was walking by on my way out, there was a man sitting down inside the vision center talking with the optometrist and a woman trying on frames! Not sure if they were just being lazy or theres actually a restriction but that definitely demonstrated their poor standard of service.

Staff was friendly and professional. I was able to try on frames, although with direction that anything I picked up (and did not want to try on) had to be left on the counter to be cleaned.

I was just here on 5/21/19 for a basic eye exam. The Dr. or Optician was wonderful. Very nice and professional but the rest of the staff not so much. I mean they are great while they try to sell you frames and up-sell you on the lenses and the all important anti-glare coating ($50 if I remember correctly) but as soon as they realize you want your prescription so that you can order glasses online the honeymoon is over. I had to call back to get a number from my prescription that they forgot to give me and the woman was just rude and short. Oh well... it is walmart so what should I expect.

I come here for my eye exams, last time I went it only costed me $65. One time I forgot my pupillary distance so I called them prior to my appointment. They gave me my number with no problems or questions asked. Every time I go in the staff is super friendly. Also, if you are buying frames here, they tend to have a good selection.

I am going to make my 5th trip to Howells Walmart Vision Center today. I hope that they will finally have gotten my sons prescription correct. Between forgetting to take the correct measurement for a bi-focal lens and deciding to change to the prescription his ophthalmologist wrote, I am astonished. What if an MD wrote a prescription for pills and the pharmacist decided she knew more than the MD and changed the prescription? Unreal. They gave me 10% off, but it in no way makes up for their lack of standards and common sense.

I would leave no stars if i could. Walmart is portrayed as a family environment however i had a 10:20am optical appointment and the women told me when i arrived at 1010 that i would have to reschedule, after she suddenly changed her mind i waited for 1/2 an hour only to find that the next women kept looking at my baby cross eyed and suggesting reasons for me to reschedule, not assertive staff. The first women could have told me that instead of waiting for the next person to do her job, or better yet tell people on the phone when they make the appointment.

When I made the appointment, the staff was friendly. I came into my appointment and after being told that I had to pay upfront for the exam (which was not usual), it was only then that I was told that my insurance would not get very far because Walmart is out of network. so instead of having $150 frame allowance, we had $20! I was so livid that they couldn’t just tell me this on the phone when I made the appointment! Never coming back here!

Its a bit of a mixed bag. It always feels like theyre way more worried about getting paid upfront for the eye exam than they are about anything else. Im unsure how it makes any sense as the whole reason for going is to get the prescription for glasses or contacts, and they dont give that to you until the very end anyway. Do they get a ton of people who go all the way through the exam, then say nah I dont want the prescription, Ill just leave now and not pay you? This last visit the doctor seemed fixated on promoting a certain brand of contact lens solution, maybe she gets a kickback for selling the stuff? Unsure why she was pushing it so hard but didnt buy into the hype.Beyond that bit of weirdness, the staff seems overworked and understaffed. Certainly not the best optical department Ive been to, but also not the worst. Re
