Warning! Warning! Warning!Just another Zimmerman turnabout but less class. Waited over 2 hours in the waiting room. He spent 5 minutes with me and wouldnt let me speak. The place is a dump and the staff is just as uncaring. He definitely has a God complex and the staff, Im sure taking their que from their leader, doesnt treat you at all like a person and do nothing but sit around and gossip. I would NEVER feel comfortable having him open me up. Dr. Likover, its no longer 1983....Also he has a real problem with people if they are overweight...will treat you as if you are the dirt beneath his feet...the only good portion of the visit was the kind eyes of the young lady that seem to be interning with him. It was apparent she new better than to say anything. It took me 6 months to get this appointment. Most the time they dont answer the phone and may call you back a week later or not!!!

I recently consulted with Dr. Likover regarding patella replacement. Although it can be repaired or replaced he shared with me the long recovery, and after looking at my X-ray and range of motion video he concurred I should probably leave well enough alone. I found him to very professional, knowledgeable and honest. We corresponded via email and his responses were immediate. I live in Florida and would, without hesitation, travel to Houston to for this procedure should my circumstances change. I highly recommend Dr. Larry Likover. I wish I could shake his hand and thank him personally for his expert opinion.

Dr. Likover is a no-nonsense professional. He replaced both of my knees in 2015, about six months apart. They are perfectly aligned and work beautifully. We are currently monitoring my hip for a possible replacement and he is absolutely the best choice to perform the replacement if/when it becomes necessary. Dr. Likover will give you the facts you need to make good choices. He follows up after surgery with a thoroughness you cannot always expect. He replaced my husbands hip joints years ago and they also never gave him any more problems. Do your homework and read reviews; this doctor is simply the best and I highly recommend trusting him with your family.

In 2010, after interviewing several candidates, I chose Dr. Likover to perform a right knee replacement procedure. Dr. Likover and his staff were knowledgeable and professional in completing the procedure and very detailed in the follow-up instructions on rehab and exercises. I followed the detailed instructions to the letter and had a very successful replacement with no problems. I was able to return to work and my previous level of activity, golf, tennis, manual labor without any after effects. I just completed my 10 year exam and the x-ray results according to Dr. Likover are perfect. Great results for a guy that turned 79 nine months ago.

I had 6 surgeries prior to seeing Dr Likover. He performed a total knee replacement. First time in years I can walk without pain.I found refreshing was his direct no nonsense approach to both the initial surgery and the follow-ups. This included both pre and post surgery activities that he proscribe for every patient. Including suggested menu and exercises to he suggested each patient performed both before and afterwards.Dr. Likover and staff encourage significant others and/or friends to be part of the surgery from the very beginning, including per-activities through post surgeries

I was given a referral to another orthopedic dr but after my initial visit, I decided to get a 2nd opinion and called Dr. Likover. Once he explained the process & signature custom knee parts, I decided he would be my surgeon. I had my right knee done in May 2019 and recovery went great. By Nov. I decided it was time to do my left knee and once again, recovery was quick. My pain was manageable and rehab was awesome. I never had any complications with either surgery and Memorial Hermann Hospital was great to work with. They offered a knee replacement class to educate patients on the process. Dr Likovers office staff was helpful in filling out all my disability & insurance papers. I highly recommend Dr. LIKOVER.

Dr. Likover performed two total hip replacement surgeries; left hip 11/7/2017 and right hip 4/16/2019. These surgeries were performed after great hip pain because of bone on bone rubbing while walking.I was able to climb stairs and drive very shortly after surgery. After a period of time to heal tissue and strengthening, I am able to do almost anything. My wife has forbid me to climb on anything, but a short step ladder; however I can mow the lawn, use a chainsaw, do repairs around the house and I have no pain.I am 81 years old. Thank you Lord and Larry Likover!

In 2016 I was experiencing alot of pain in my hip. I got a diagnosis and was quickly referred to Dr. Likover for hip replacement. I was very nervous because during my research seemed like many people had more issues after surgery than before and also had to endure another surgery. To date I have had no issues in the hip that was replaced. Dr. Likover during the first consult took his time to fully explain what the diagnosis meant and when discussing surgery used a plastic model to make sure I understood the surgery process. From surgery to recovery he instructed me on what to do and not to do and I listened and followed instructions and I healed pretty well in my opinion. My diagnosis was beginning to affect my right hip but I had a little time to wait another surgery out and not because pain is slowly developing I have followed up with Dr. Likover and in process of possibly scheduling to get the right hip replaced very soon. I trusted him once and results were good and just tend to keep drs and surgeons who I had good results with. I would highly recommend him.My only slight complaint is one of the front office staff each time I have been there, she is somewhat rude in how she interacts with patients. I have experienced it firsthand and also have watched many times as patients tried to keep composure when she had been rude with them. I can only hope these reviews get seen and perhaps some office professional development occurs on dealing with patients politely.

Rude staff, superfluous charging and egregious overbilling by third party vendors. Example: I was billed $400 for a $50 dollar walker after surgery. This type of corrupt medically billing needs to end. Everyone wants to talk about the insurance companies no one is talking about the complete lack of transparency and flagrant overcharging by doctors. What other business are you forced to sign your life away to get service only to be overbilled thousands of dollars by people you never heard of and dont know? Let me say Dr. Likover seemed extremely competent and my surgery outcome was life changing in a good way.

I went to this doctor last week for a second opinion on my total knee replacement surgery done about a little less than two years ago. I still have some problems, though no major ones, with my surgical knee. Every patient expects a doctor to listen carefully and understand the issues with an open mind before rendering any judgment. Politeness and humility do not seem to be this doctors strong points. He is condescending and seems to look down upon the patients. He belittled my problems to be imaginary and not real. He did not want to think outside the box or even consider that the problems with my knee may be because of the imbalance of the soft tissues, which in itself is subjective and immeasurable and as such perhaps not adequately taken care of during the surgery. It is quite possible that nothing can be done now and I will have to live with my problems with the rest of my life. However, proper explanation of the issues involved and a sympathetic attitude would have been very helpful. All future patients need to think twice before using the services of this doctor.

While Dr. Likover is very competent, his admin staff is very rude and there is a complete lack of transparency in his billing. I got bills from 1/2 dozen different companies after my surgery with no explanation who they were and why i was being billed. My surgery and recovery went very well. However, I met several people in the pre op classes given by Memorial Hermann that thought very highly of their surgeon and did not have the rude staff. I was lecturing and found that I couldnt move my knee after standing for a long period of time. This got so bad that I finally decided that this was not the quality of life that I wanted. Reading a review of Dr. Larry Likover in the Houston Chronicle and reviewing his website and reviews, I contacted the office. I was given an appointment within three days. The diagnosis was a total knee replacement using the signature XP knee. Never having knee surgery before, I wasnt sure what I was in for. Dr. Likover and his staff have been fantastic. Always welcoming and ready to answer my myriad of questions. I had total knee replacement surgery on February 4th of this year. Four weeks later I am able to navigate stairs, peddle a stationary bike and do various exercises with the physical therapist. I am extremely pleased with the current outcome and the prognosis. I would, without reservation, recommend Dr. Larry Likover and his staff, coupled with Memorial Hermann Hospital - Memorial City (excellent care).

After walking 33 years for the Postal Service , I went to Dr. Likover for help because I could barely walk due to knee pain. I had gotten a flyer advertisement for Dr. Likover 10 years prior to my appointment and had kept it in a desk drawer. I had been told by another Dr. in 1999 that I would need knee replacement, but was too young and still working. So 2013 rolls around, I am in extreme pain constantly so I retired from the government. Three months off the job and there was no improvement. I was hobbling thru Home Depot shopping and noticed the lady helping me had a brace on her leg. When I asked her why she told me she had undergone knee replacement 8 weeks earlier. I was very surprised and facing the same, I asked her who was the Dr that did her surgery. Dr Larry Likover was the answer and she was very pleased with his performance and her outstanding result. Well, I went home pulled out the 14 year old advertisement and called the number. Yep still at that location! I got an appointment a week later and that was the best decision I ever made. My knee replacement is one year old this month and I have my life back. Always an outdoor and very active person, my inability to enjoy my horses,my vegetable garden, hiking, biking and my grand children was very depressing. I am now able to do those things again and at 64 years of age I dont plan on slowing down! Dr. Likover is very professional, proficient and dedicated to his work. His straight foreword approach may offend some but he makes no joke about the work you must put into your recovery. His stern exterior is over shadowed by his wry sense of humor. He has a great staff and is affiliated with the outstanding group at Memorial Herman Hospital. This Dr is one of the best at what he does and your recovery is his major mission. So glad I found him!

I have known Dr. Likover for 20+ years when he took care of my daughters broken arm and my wrist. So, when it was time for my knee replacement I immediately thought of him. So then I found that he was doing the XP procedure which was a no brainer for me. I had my surgery on January 28, 2015, and indeed pain management was the order of the day. From Memorial City hospital I went to a rehab hospital and I left there 10 days later walking, I went to therapy for 3 months, and at the end of March I was dancing all night long at my daughters wedding. I am indeed thrilled with the results. Dr. Likover is brilliant, and he is very funny. I have recommended him to everyone in my office, and all the future candidates for knee replacement will be going to him after seeing my recovery.

I told him I did not have a recorder and he took my bag and stuck it in the hall way. He said there would not be any conversation about his results and I would get a letter from the insurance company. He then asked me if I was working and I told him I was disabled and he then asked if a doctor told me that or was I trying to self diagnose it. He told me to lift my left leg then my right leg and asked if I was taking pain meds. I told him yes I was taking a hydrocodone a day. He said that was it. Dr. Likover saved my life! After seeing and orthopedic Dr who only prescribed pain and inflammation meds, I saw a surgeon who told me nothing could be done, then another surgeon....referred as the best in Houston for sports medicine, who gave me an injection and told me I could never run again. I had accepted that I would not be able to run anymore, even though I had explained to each of these Doctors that not running was ruining my life. Dr. Likover was referred to me by a coworker, I had a 10 minute visit with him, told him that running was important to me, he asked for one more Xray (I brought MRI and Xrays with me) and suggested cleaning up my meniscus and replacing my ACL on my first visit. They scheduled my surgery for 10 days later. He told me I would be running in 5 months! My surgery was first week of February and I started running in May per Dr. instruction, I ran 7.5 miles yesterday with no pain or swelling!

I have had both knees replaced, 6 months apart, in 2014. The first was in May and the second was in November. The first was a traditional total knee replacement. The second was the Biomet XP.Before the knee replacements, I was still active. I worked in Engineering and Construction. I SCUBA dive and I walked for exercise. Each knee had an ACL. One was natural and one ACL was my own patellar tendon replacement. So I know what it was like for a few months without an ACL before I got mine replaced. In late 2013 I was told my irritated right knee was bone on bone. When I got the first knee replaced in May 2014, there was no prosthesis available that retained the ACL. The timing of the second knee replacement gave me an alternative. My opinion is that the Biomet XP, being more stabile because of the retained ACL, has caused less irritation during therapy and in day to day life actions. Less irritation and being more stabile means my therapies have progressed much faster than before. My balance is advanced and my confidence to push the recovery boundaries is enhanced. In early February I began walking 3/4 a mile a day and now do 2 miles a day. I can see that yet this summer I will have the endurance to walk my desired goal of 5 miles a day on the river levees. This was my goal during my first knee replacement. But walking short distances even after the first knee had 5 months after surgery and before the second knee began to swell was limited. Frankly, I did not feel secure enough to walk far from the house because of the instability.I have been using a step ladder to change the air filters in my 10 foot high home ceilings. I have been carrying large boxes of articles down our attic stairs and also down the second to first floor steps and on to the car for donations. I have planted rose bushes this last month and have trimmed our 10 foot high crape myrtles. I am driven to regain my mobility.I am 4-1/2 months out from surgery. I have regained full extension of the knee over a month ago but still work at it to maintain flexibility. By the way, I turned 65 years old in March. I have already told my buddies that when they are in their well chairs at 70+ years of age due to their present bad knees, I will be the one jogging on the beach pushing their well chairs.I was fortunate to have found a great medical team in Dr. Likover and his staff who, with the Biomet XP, is getting me well on my way.
