Dr. Tessier is a great doctor. Very nice and explained everything about my issue. His MA Sammie very pleasant. She was sweet and walked me through the process on the next step for my medical plan. Office staff and radiologist were nice as well. I would highly recommend going to Dr. Tessier for any orthopedic issues you are having, you will not be disappointed.

I enjoy the help and guidance that Dr. Tessier offers. However, in both visits with him, he has come across as a bit cold and doesn’t seem to want to stay and discuss treatment. He knows his craft and I am sure he is a very educated physician but a little personality or humor goes a long way. He gets the job done but I’d appreciate a bit more care for the patient and not just cold facts.

Dr. Darin Tessier is an amazing surgeon! I had surgery 2 yrs ago and at that time I truly thought I would never walk again. I wrecked my dirt bike and snapped my foot off pretty much my skin was holding my foot on! I had no insurance for 3 weeks after I got hurt then I finally got approved. I went to 3 different surgeons one of which re-dislocated my ankle and then tells me they cant do surgery for another 3 weeks. I was so blessed when I found Dr. Tessier. It was a HR and half drive for me but man Im so thankful I took the drive. I waited in waiting room maybe 5 mins if that before he saw me. I told him my story he looked at my x-rays and told me I had about 3.5 weeks to get it fixed or more problems would happen. I started crying and said its already been 3 weeks and he said it will be ok calm down we will take care of you. Well he went out if the room and I could hear him calling every hospital hes affiliated with to find the soonest surgery date he could get. I was in shock that a doctor could care so much about me! Couple of days later I was in surgery. Come to find out I had a severed nerve that was stuck between the two bones of my ankle that was causing severe pain which he fixed! I now have a plate, 9 screws and 4 cables going through my bones to hold them together. I am now able to run and hike like Ive always done and I cant thank him enough for saving my foot!!! I couldnt wait to give our visit a review. I am very big on customer service and Dr Tessiers office staff delivered nothing less than exceptional customer service. They were all very professional and accommodating. As a new patient, and hardly ever sick patient, we were anxious of the visit. Dr. Tessier had great bedside manners and explained everything about my daughters injury in laymans terms. Hopefully we will not have any other broken bones, but if we do, we will return.

Dr. Tessier was amazing! He came in and was very courteous and polite. He listened to what I had to say and what I was feeling. He did some quick basic diagnostic tests and has me set up for further testing to get a full diagnosis. Dr Tessier did surgery on my wife’s ankle. From beginning to end , he was always kind and professional. He explained everything and left no questions we had , un answered. Dr Tessier walked with me through every step of my hip injury ruling out every possibility and helping manage my pain until we decided that surgery was the best option for my injury. I am 5 weeks post-op of a pretty extensive surgery and have no pain or complications. We had a great experience with Dr. Tessier. My teenage son was having significant pain in both feet and ankles and was greatly impacting his performance during football practice/games. Dr. Tessier was very knowledgeable and thorough in explaining his diagnosis. He gave my son exercises to do that will strengthen his fallen arches. Dr. Tessier also recommended fitted insoles and possibly custom orthotics, along with wrapping his ankles or slip-on braces. We have followed his treatment plan and my son is a different kid on the field! We are so thankful to Dr. Tessier!

If you want to waste your money on a copay, this is your guy. Otherwise, I would go to an orthopedist that specializes in your exact body part you are seeking treatment for. I asked if he treated the hand and wrist and they said yes. He took x-rays and said it was a sprain. Gave me a brace and said if I didnt wear it I would need surgery. I asked for a cortisone injection and he said it wouldnt help. Days later it got worse. Called and spoke to the MA who said she would call back after speaking to the DR. They didnt return my calls until I called the front desk again. They told me to go to a hand specialist. 2 weeks later, I went to a hand specialist who said it was what I originally thought and gave me a cortisone shot. Quack!

Dr Tessier is wonderful. He did surgery on my daughters knee and then a year later had to do surgery on her other knee. I recommend him for anyone in the Birmingham area to drive to him (even if you have someone closer). It is worth peace of mind to have a Dr you know cares and will take care of you (and you baby girl).

Dr.Tessier is on the front edge of the orthopedic surgery. His experience with the top professional and division 1 athletes in the country is second to none. I can tell you as a parent of an athlete, his procedures and experience made a huge difference in my sons recovery and ability to play. The original prognosis on my sons torn labrum was surgery, 4 weeks in a sling, and 4-5 months before he could return to playing baseball. He only had 8 weeks before he had to report to campus for Fall baseball practice, so we contacted Dr.Tessier. Dr.Tessier said my son would be back swinging a bat in 6 weeks, and back to 95% in 8 weeks and be back to competing for a spot on the team. True to his word, my son was in a sling for days and started his rehab the next day, and was full go in 8 weeks. Darin also suggested a Stem cell injection which also helped the recovery process tremendously.When my son got to campus, the medical staff could not believe my son had surgery only weeks before. The doctors said there was no way he only had surgery 2 weeks prior to showing up on campus. They tried to hold him back from activities because they were not used to seeing such a good patient that quickly after surgery. Had we stayed with the original doctor, there is no way my son would have been ready to compete in the Fall baseball practices at 100% as he did this Fall.We were very fortunate to have Dr.Tessier for our surgeon. I would urge you to discuss any surgery procedures you might have as he will give you the most up to date processes and recovery methods in the orthopedic field.

My son tore is ACL 3 times. The first 2 repairs were done at Methodist. The recovery was horrible as well as follow up care. Our third repair was done by Dr. Tessier. What a huge difference from start to finish. His staff was amazing and took care of everything. They were so accommodating with my sons schedule because he is in college. Dr. Tessier was able to diagnose and fix a problem that no other doctor had found. My son did not need any pain meds afterward. He is amazing! His training and skills were impressive!

My 11 year old has an issue with his wrist so we went to our regular orthopedic to have it looked at. The prognosis was he had a small cyst they recommended we quickly remove via surgery. Not being 100% comfortable we agreed without seeking a second opinion. Pre surgery, they requested an MRI which we completed. On our next pre surgery visit the doc confirmed surgery was the right choice. I still felt this was extreme given he is 11 so I asked Darin who was not our doctor at the time for a second opinion. He was happy to look at the MRI and called me immediately after reviewing. He suggested we hold off on surgery as it was in his mind a bit drastic given the circumstances. He then gave me his prediction that it would go away naturally or we could drain it vs cutting him open. He also provided a number of statistics related to this prognosis on an 11 year old child and his opinion on likely outcomes. A few months later and Darin was spot on! We almost made a very bad decision and thank god we met doctor Tessier! I think some doctors are quick to recommend surgery and it feels geared towards running up a bill. Others like Tessier are measured and feel more concerned with the patient than just sending them to surgery. He is absolutely fantastic with kids and a straight shooter. We felt very comfortable and now both my boys have seen him for different sports related issues. I highly recommend doctor Tessier and do so often!

Had a great experience with Dr. Tessier with my daughter and her knee injury. It is obvious that he is well trained and knows his stuff. Highly recommend him!

I would not recommend Dr. Tessier to anyone. Dr. Tessier ordered an MRI for me. When I went in for my follow-up, he hadnt even reviewed the radiology report. After looking it over, he informed me that I had a tumor, but he wanted to get another radiologist to look at the MRI. He said he would get back to me by the end of the week. I NEVER heard from him again even after I phoned his office TWICE to follow-up and was assured by his assistant he would get back to me. In the two visits I had with him, I paid almost $300 out of pocket, only to be told I had a some sort of tumor and then just abandoned. What kind of doctor just leaves a patient hanging like that? I had to find a new, competent orthopedic surgeon to diagnose me and give me a treatment plan. (By the way, it wasnt even a tumor - it was osteonecrosis)

I had a knee injury in February of 2017. I met with another surgeon befor Dr. Tessier and they had no solution. After an MRI Dr. Tessier concluded I need surgery to repair the torn meniscus. I had surgery May 4th and was back to work light duty on the 7th. He is a very thorough Doctor and a wonderful person. I am now going to go back to have my other knee done sometime in the next week. Im confident that the Doctor and his staff will take good care of my knee.

Charged $800 for telling one of our producers to see another doctor for service.. took 2 months to get resolved after 10+ phone calls... bill now $160 for normal office visit.One of our producers came in with a fractured ankle.. was diagnosed previously. Tessier saw him, asked literally a couple of questions (5 min visit), sent him to a hospital for a CT scan. Thats the first and last time he saw Tessier.. and a week later on the insurance claim, theres an 800 charge labeled as SURGERY! Just one example of how a doctor doesnt care anything about the patient except the money he can get from his insurance and referrals...FRAUD!
