I decided to see Dr. Collins after suffering a deep laceration that caused tendon and nerve damage and also affected the PIP joint in my finger. After looking at my finger and reviewing the x-ray Dr. Collins diagnosed that I needed reconstructive surgery on the PIP joint in my finger.Dr. Collins wanted 2 to 3 months of physical therapy before the surgery.I had 2 months of physical therapy and pushed my finger to the limit.Actually, after the 1st month the physical therapist would not allow me to push my finger any further than necessary and stated; It would actually cause more harm than good and the, only, next step is reconstructive surgery on the PIP joint. When I did try and push my finger further the circulation would cut off. The physical therapist was right that pushing my finger any further was going to cause more harm than good.I was also informed by the physical therapist that Dr. Collins does not listen to the physical therapists advise nor the patients.Considering this was suppose to be a coordinated team effort between the doctor, physical therapist and patient this information was truly disturbing.Since Dr. Collins and the physical therapist work directly across the hallway from each other this was an utter lack of communication for the very best interest of the patient.(Let me state clearly, that the physical therapist agreed that I must have reconstructive surgery.)Well, the physical therapists statement became abundantly clear on my 3rd appointment with Dr. Collins.Dr. Collins walked into the room abruptly and bluntly stated; Go get a second opinion.Dr. Collins did not say;Good MorningHow Are You?How Is Your Finger Feeling?Nothing except a complete 180° statement from 3 months ago.As the patient this was extremely shocking and obviously I felt that the overall health and well-being of my finger was not a priority. Then Dr. Collins stated; I want another 6 to 9 months of continued physical therapy on your finger. That is a complete oxymoron!Which Is It???1) Go get a second opinion.2) Another 6 to 9 months of physical therapy.Plus, what insurance company would approve continued physical therapy on a finger that would add up to a total of 8 to 11 months?Once again, the physical therapist does not agree with Dr. Collins and believes further therapy would only cause more harm the good.Dr. Collins tried to come up with every excuse for me to deal with the end result after the physical therapy and why he would not perform reconstructive surgery on my finger. It Was Excuses - Nothing More Than ExcusesPersonally, it sounded like a true lack of confidence in his own abilities. On all 3 appointments Dr. Collins did not spend more than 10 minutes with me. He and his staff are too busy handing out the candy basket. That is just a psychological ploy to ease the patient(s).As the patient, I put my faith and trust in Dr. Collins but all I have done is waste the last 3 months. I take full responsibility for my lack in judgment.More Importantly, I find it totally disgraceful that Dr. Collins promotes himself on the website overview with all his degrees, awards, magazine covers, internationally renowned, being a professional athlete specialist, etc., but he is unable to perform reconstructive surgery on a PIP joint.I guess if I was a professional athlete things would have tuned out differently. It is a shame that Dr. Collins did not have the common decency and respect to be upfront and honest with me from the very 1st appointment. Finally, Yes, I have received a second opinion from an Orthopedic (Hand) Surgeon and I absolutely need reconstructive surgery on the PIP joint. Thankfully, I will receive the ultimate care I so rightfully deserve.Regarding the stars for this review.I wish I could leave zero but 1 star, solely, is based on the physical therapist being open and honest with me.Any response from Dr. Collins or Methodist Hospital is 100% superfluous!!!

Awesome visit! He listened to my concerns, addressed them and educated me on my condition. Very helpful even a few days after the visit when I had, what I thought was a reaction to the injection. He was able to see me and reassure me of my concerns. And his assistant Crystal is so kind and helpful!

Today I had the privilege of interacting with Dr. Collin’s physicians assistant (GARRETT) that supports Dr. Collins.I definitely would give him a 5 out of 5 or 6/5 for PA GARRETT’s follow up and for taking advantage of escalating the issues I’ve been experiencing.I asked that Dr. Collins provide the link so I can provide feedback what is so critical, is so important when it comes to a customer who is seeking professional and critical help regarding their health.Garrett (the PA) was especially focused on my situation and very compassionate, Garrett then followed up with my orthapedic surgeon Dr. Collins to see what might could be done. I continue to be very impressed with Methodist hospital, they are the best record keepers as well as in my opinion the very best in customer satisfaction. Thank you Garrett for providing such helpful information that will be sent over to the corporate office as well as Dr. Collins.

This doctor is the best example of why a patient should walk out. He is arrogant which is okay, but what is not okay is his lack of confidence in his diagnosis. First, he explained that my carpal tunnel would be an easy surgery and so I too felt confident. However...he then sent me for a nerve test and his diagnosis was a complete 180. He said surgery might or might not fix the problem, he had no way of knowing the outcome... the surgery was up to me. Obviously he was covering himself whether the surgery went well or if it did not. I left and found another physician who didnt tell me what I wanted to hear nor did he sit on the middle of the fence. His diagnosis was realistic. My hand is good as new.In my opinion Dr. Collins is a phony... an overrated phony.

Rudest doctor ever! Gave me attitude because I asked questions to try and understand what could be wrong with my hand. He talked the whole 15 minutes instead of letting me upload my MRI images to my email for him to examine. Told me that he doesnt know why Im having pain or trouble twisting off things and seemed to not care. He stormed out the room with an attitude. Both him and his assistant Crystal continued to talk about me and how I wasted their precious 15 minutes as my door was left open. I walked out very surprised on how I was treated and how they continued to talk about how stupid I was for not bringing MRI images as I was standing behind them. Overall rudeness and attitude was very uncalled for.

I cannot rave enough about this doctor!!!! He is the nicest doctor ever!!! He has gone above and beyond to accommodate my situation and schedule. I too, am in the medical field, so being extremely busy myself, and dealing with medical professionals all the time, I can honestly say, this is one of the nicest doctors I have ever dealt with. He is constantly smiling and always interacting with his patients. He is very meticulous with his work and knowledgeable! I felt very comfortable and secure with him doing my hand surgery. All went well and I cannot be more pleased!! I would highly recommend this doctor and his staff! All of them have been so pleasant and they really do treat you like family! I especially enjoyed the cast RN Joe and OT Ricardo. They took such great care of me and my injury and really put me at ease at every appointment! I will refer this doctor to everyone including my own family! My experience surpassed five stars!!!!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Furthermore, for the bad review written by J. Lindsey, I cannot imagine how you had a bad experience at this practice. With most doctors visits come a wait, my wait experience with Dr. Collins was not horrible, but very caring, because once it was my turn with the doctor, any time waiting for him was well worth it. He sat and listened to me and explained everything in full and took his time with me. I cannot agree with you on your explanation of appointment because I witnessed him doing the same treatment with all the others around me. He wasnt rushed at all and was very willing to go to lengths to get me corrected to his fullest. Im sorry you didnt have the same experience as I, mine was fantastic!!

BEST ARM AND HAND ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR AND STAFF EVER!!! Dr. Collins has taken such good care of me. My elbow was shattered, and ulna and radius was broken back in Feb. 2014. Dr. Collins was the only orthopedic surgeon that would take my case. He is very professional, caring, knowledgable, happy, upbeat, and outgoing. I have since broken my arm again, and he has once again taken my case. He even took a middle of the night call, and he was just as professional at 2 am, as he is during his regular business hours. He told me at 2 am to be in his office this morning, and I went, and once again they took very good care of me. Joe changed my cast, and Dr. Collins gave me some better meds for pain control. Dr. Collins and his whole staff are #1 in my book. I wouldnt dream of going anywhere else.

Dr. Collins is an orthopedic upper extremities specialist. He is fun and caring, he is informative and encouraging, he is realistic and optimistic. And he is a hand surgeon par-excellence. I went into his office with fear and dread, knowing in my heart I was probably facing a very tough surgery (my left hand had been operated on by another hand surgeon several years before, followed by months of very painful recovery and a disappointing outcome). Dr. Collins was warm and gentle, patient and kind. But reality had its way, and I faced surgery on my right hand with much trepidation. He and the wonderful staff of Methodist Hospitals OPC Pre-Op and Orthopedic Surgery units made my surgical experience as easy and painless as possible. My post-operative care by Dr. Collins and Methodists OT hand specialist was wonderful. I cannot adequately express my gratitude - and amazement - at my recovery process and outcome. Dr. Evan Collins is a fine gentleman, an incredibly knowledgeable and trustworthy physician, and the absolute best hand surgeon ever. On a scale of 1 - 5, hes a 10.

Dr Collins is amazing! Listened to what I had to say and we came up with the plan to treat my carpul tunnel!! If I ever have issues with my arms this is the ONLY Dr I would use. He treated me several years ago, but since then has treated my mother, sister and several coworkers.

Pretty much told me there was nothing to be done about my elbow but to take pain meds. Got another opinion from Dr mehlhoff and ended up getting arthroscopic surgery and already my elbow is better than it was and I still have a few more weeks of recovery. The staff was also extremely unhelpful when my mri disc was left in their computer and they said they would send it to me and I never received it. Had to go get a new copy.

Horrible horrible doctor. I waited for 1.5 hours after my appointment time. Then I got xrays then I had to wait some more. Finally the doctor came in, spent literally 60 seconds with me and told me there was nothing he could do for me. He didnt touch my hands or even look at the xrays. I ran out crying. I scheduled an appointment with another doctor the same day and was seen within a week. The new doctor treated my carpal. Dont go to Evan Collins. I also never received a bill but he just sent it into collections. I would have disputed the bill immediately on receipt. It took me two full days to find out what doctor the collection notice was for.
