I have been calling all day for help with gas vouchers, and I keep getting a run around. Calls hang up on me three times while on hold, website is not allowing me to make a request like it suggests. It keeps bringing me back to the phone number to call, and nothing else. I dont know what to do. It would really help being that I am living out of my car right now, and could use help.

I love MAM and have been shopping there for a few years. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can find some great treasures if youre willing to spend a little time, and I spend lots of time there. I rarely shop retail anymore. Whenever I need something, I check MAM first and am usually never disappointed. My husband loves it to because now I can shop for less than 1/2 the price and still look fabulous. Keep up the good work MAM!

The tax service is free and its by appointment only due to covid but they are not fair in how they service you. I was here early filled out my papers but the lady was getting people that was behind me in line. I had to ask why. You would think they would be fair due to them being apart of a church but I want the race she wanted to help and this is not the first time this happened I only come here because of my mom.

This place helped my household get back on our feet after the Watson explosion in January of 2020. I did not expect much, maybe just some help with groceries but they went ABOVE AND BEYOND. We are forever grateful for everything!!

This place has been a solid 5 for me for years. I dont think Ive missed one of their shred days in the last 3 years. That all changed today however. I pulled up about 5:01. They close at 5. But they were still unloading several cars. I said Ive just driven 25 minutes can you unload mine? The answer was pretty firm no. I said really? He said come back tomorrow. Somehow, I think the right thing would have been unloading my car. Then I said, wow I just drove 25 minutes to get here yet I could gone 5 minutes around the corner to a Goodwill. He said you should go to a Goodwill tomorrow. Guess I will. But Im sad. They have always been so nice.

BUYER BEWARE..two out of two items purchased did not work.Although I am a longtime donor to MAM I had never been in the storefront. After dropping off some items I went in to see what was available. My Uncle just moved to a senior living facility and I found a Cuisinart single coffee maker which I thought he might like. The tag indicated that it worked & I purchased it. The two women at checkout made sure I knew it was a “no exchange or refund” transaction. I asked what if it doesn’t work and they both replied “the tag says it works”, which apparently means if they plug it in and a light comes on it works in their minds. Ditto for a Wii fit board.I have never donated any items that were not working as I feel the people shopping at MAM probably cannot afford to waste money on non working items.In the future I am going to drive past MAM and drop my donations at the church across from them.

THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE FAKE. I have been shopping here a long time. It used to have terrible reviews (high prices and rudeness). I can assure you nothing has changed. I have donated my stuff only to see the prices on them later in store and be shocked! Prices double that of other resale places. Also, volunteers never know anything about anything, whats on sale, prices, nothing. If an item doesnt have a price, they take the item from you and are RUDE....and say they wont sell it! Pretty much management on down are snobs. Yes the store is clean and organized. I will give them that. DO NOT GO ON SALE DAYS QUARTERLY...no carts, lines to back of store, ugh. And then, at sale prices, I am paying what I consider to be normal resale prices?! I called for school supply help because I am poor. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. I called to donate a chair. NEVER GOT A CALL BACK. really???

MAM truly helps to anyone who approaches asking for help. Their services are low cost or free, depending on the persons and their situation. Their services vary from helping you to fill out applications for government assistance to legal counseling on family matters and immigration. Theyre very punctual with the time of your appointment, so you dont wait too much for your turn.

The MAM Resale store is very large and organized just like a department store. MAM offers clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family as well as furniture, housewares, linens, small appliances, art, books, and jewelry just to name a few. Not all merchandise at MAM Resale is used. There is a New Gift department that offers new unused items still in original packages suitable for gift giving. You will also find the Boutique which offers designer clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags and other accessories for women and men. Also in the store you will see Vintage Corner. Here you will find vintage and antique furniture and accessories. Everyday MAM Resale offers certain items to be discounted . These daily sale items are posted on the board inside at the entrance. The MAM staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful. The store inventory is constantly changing as donations are steadily being accepted and processed to be sold.

I am very blessed for MAMS assisting me with things I needed help with. The thrift shop is FABULOUS I found everything I needed to decorate my home... my babies and I needed last minute outfits for a birthday party. We found EVERYTHING from hair bows, jewelry, clothes and shoes/sandals. Prices are decent and fair.

Best thrift in Houston. Im not giving away any more secrets! You need to shop there.

When I was unemployed, I went to MAM and trained for seeking a career. Everyone took time to help me get back on my feet. The staff is kind. Professional and it is the place to guide you for getting that special career job. You can count on them working with you until you achieve your goals. Only at MAM can really make a difference!!! The tax service assistance here is nice because its free. My experience is people come in after me and go in before meGot here at 2 PM and still waiting at 5 PM .Just an observation but the whites and blacks are the ones who are waiting while the Hispanics go ahead of you even though they came in after you.

Well organized and clean store. Volunteer staff is always super friendly. Great deals for book lovers and their selection is very good for a resale shop and nicely organized. Some prices may seem a little high but typically I do not mind, knowing that it is going towards charity.

Is this place fairly priced for very low income families struggling? Is it better priced than Goodwill? Sorry. I put a 5 star for now just to get information because i have been calling all numbers for NAM to get info on the thrift store you all provide but seems all numbers i call no one answers

Bout a 50-50 for me. I was followed by the woman security my first time there. As if I was going to steal. From a THRIFT store. I gave no reason for her to follow me as to I was simply browsing the whole store. She also tends to make personal calls during her shift and thats absolutely wrong to do as security. Some people stare at you like if theres something wrong with you and keep their eyes on you. Even one of the older volunteers asked me Can I help you? in a very rude way as if I was interfering with their work when they were chit chatting with a cowoker. Some staff are sweet. As for the clothes, they price things pretty high so things add up quickly. I was given a voucher and could only get a few things but theres also barely any selection. Even after going there a few times, weeks apart. But other than that, the programs are good and they have people who are ready to help.

Went there yesterday 4/15/19 to file my taxes and these 2 workers were extremely rude!! Every single time someone would ask them a question their response was hostile, raising their voice. I get that they were overwhelmed, but they knew how it would be when they took the job!! We had been there all day, papers filled out. But, when 6 oclock came they said no more taxes were being done, even though the closing cut off time was 7 oclock. To make matters worse when the front desk lady was taking paperwork for Extensions she was putting the paperwork and photo ids in the wrong area so the lady doing the extensions was behind because she wasnt aware the documents were even brought back to be entered.

The resale store is clean and organized. Lots of things to choose from and good prices. It is nice to know that the money they receive for purchases goes towards their organization and used to help the community.

Revised Review:After speaking to Martha (the CEO), I am revising my review. Although I had the poor experiences, she reached out to ensure she looked into the matter and resolved the issue. It showed me that customer satisfaction is important to her which I truly appreciate. I will continue shopping here since as previously mentioned, I believe in the cause. I enjoy the selection and although the prices can be high compared to other thrift stores, I still manage to find some hidden treasures at reasonable prices. Thank you again Martha for showing you care.Old Review:I am sharing my experiences so management can be aware of the treatment customers are receiving from the Latina security guard. I understand there is a need to keep order but there is a fine line between order and making customers uncomfortable. She has crossed that line one too many times to keep silent. Upon arrival, she looks at you up and down without a smile or greeting. It makes me felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I am a buying customer and support your cause. On several occasions I have been eyed and followed with my 4 yr old daughter like I was a thief. I am a professional, well dressed giving no inclination of such act. One instance, I was rushed to leave with 10 mins to spare when MAM announced they were closing soon. Without a chance to make my final selection, she followed and rushed me with a harsh tone. The straw that broke the camels back was when she snatched a book from my daughters hand and said, that book is for sale the last time we were there. You see, I bring my daughter here when she is good so I can treat her to a new book. My daughter was quietly sitting on the side browsing a book when this happened. I was standing right by and witnessed the whole thing. I found it shocking. When I expressed my distaste to David, she walked by angrily and confronted me. I find it troubling that she can intimidate and frighten a child just 4 yrs old without a conscience then confronts the mother. My daughter was not misbehaving in any way. If she was, bring it to my attention and I will reprimand her. It is inappropriate otherwise. Dont grab her by the shoulder and take a book from her hands like that. She is allowed to browse before she selects a book for purchase. Earlier that same day, the same security guard was in the boutique where I was shopping, bad mouthing about another customer. I find this very unprofessional to do in front of another customer. Couldnt that wait until I leave? It made me so uncomfortable. All in all, I think it is unfair to treat customers that support your business with such blatant disrespect. After speaking to David, he explained there have been customers that abuse the establishment. I am sorry to hear that but to generalize and mistreat good patrons is just wrong. Maybe she needs a break or a good talking to because she is hurting your business. I spent over $200 that day before this happened and havent been back since. I am the one that purchased the 3 bottles of perfume for $50 each among other things in the boutique. I really hope you read this and address the issue. Sincerely, Danielle

Awesome thrift store! This is by far one of the best thrift stores in Houston. Its well layed out, has a big selection and very neat and organized. The book selection is phenomenal! They also have a little boutique inside that offers higher end clothing so there really is something for everyone. Be sure to like their Facebook page for all their sale notifications.

Did my community service here and everyone was very helpful and nice. Great environment and a lot of nice stuff for sale as well.

As far as thrift stores are concerned MAMs is one of the best. If you see something you need or like you should get it then because the turnaround is fast

Pretty good prices especially on childrens books.The toy room is a mess with piles of toys on the floor that you have to crawl over.Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone. I tried calling like 5 times one Saturday about scheduling a donation pickup. Finally, I drove over there to talk to someone. They scheduled delivery for the next week and arrived right on time.

The store is very well organized and clean. I found the prices to be slightly below those at goodwill, and the quality higher. The boutique area was pricey, but the main room had good brands for cheap. Telling employees seemed friendly and polite, even when I accidentally got in the way of someone trying to restock she was polite about it.Remember that while the items are donated I doubt the rent and utilities are. And employees have to be paid. The money they make is reinvested in the community, so not a bad deal.

I buy cheap used toys for my son here. They usually are slightly used. The boutique area is a nice touch and Ive found high-end purses here for my collection.

Came to get my taxes done here and they are VERY UNORGANIZED!!! I understand is free to get them done. But they took two hours the second time I came. Last year the guy that helped me took about 30 minutes and to tap it off they only have ONE person that reviews the papers after. How is that possible? If you have about 10 ppl doing the taxes. I do not recommend to come here. GO TO A DIFFERNET ONE EVEN IF YOU PAY!!! 😡

Yup. No bargains here they will not negotiate. You can find 2 same items priced differently, and theres lots of sentimental pricing. The security lady is a total creeper and rude and definitely on a power trip. The guy at the register as well. Finally got his name, Abraham. Those two need to be put away and not deal with the public until they take some sort of etiquette training. Thrift store across the street is much better. The entire staff across the street is super nice.

I went here looking for a 60s era Punch Bowl with cups and found a great deal for $8.00 - ran into Jan Glenn from Channel 13. They have excellent cusyomer service and a wide variety for thrifty shoppers.

They have LOTS of furniture and selections in all areas. However, many things are over priced. That’s why I give them 3 stars. I had been looking for a dinng table and the prices were between 300 and $600. I also wanted a chandelier and the prices were 40 and UP. For that price I can find something new at the home depot so it doesn’t make sense. Good for me, that day I decided to visit the smaller thrift store acroos the street and I found the chandelier for 10$,now that’s what I am talking about!!! So if you go to NAM visit the store acrooss the street, is smaller, but they have very cute stuff and their prices are really cheap! Must of the furniture at NAM though, is fine quality, I admit it, but when you are shopping at a thrift store is because your budget is low, so this gets me down. However, I always visit the store and from time to time I have found a good deals in smaller things. I recently got a American girl dresser for $20. I thought it was a good deal considering the original price was $90.

Ill forever be grateful for MAM. I was in between jobs and they were able to help me pay a portion of my rent. I would have been homeless, with no help. I thank God for them to this day. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!!!!

Consistently great items. They have a lot of groups contributing, so their prices are low and the turnover is high. Sidewalk sales and regular special deals keep merchandise moving. Their charity on the other side is clearly helping people in the neighborhood, including financially, free counseling, clothing vouchers, and much more.Pinch points for me: some passive-aggressive signage, and one of their two restrooms has been out of order since about September 2016. Cmon!

I am a regular who loves to get different an unusual stuff, and MAM is the right place knowing all the assistance they provide to do many people in Houston!

This was my first time coming to this store so I didnt know what to expect but what I ended up experienceing what one of the best shops Ive been too.

I called for rent assistance and was told that they could not help me because I live in a transitional facility. I am on parole and work but they do not help. Dont waste your time calling them for help if you are in a similar situation. Just another ministry that claims they help, but only those they choose to help.

Very disappointed. Tried to buy a skirt for my daughters play. The lady rudely grabbed it from my had and told me I couldnt buy it because it was part of a set. The pricers were gone for the day. I offered to pay full price. MAM got this clothing for free, why are you taking things so seriously. You made me feel embarrassed. You should be they to help and serve us, not feel you are better than your clients. I will never return and will never donate to you.

I am very desperate at the moment. I tried calling, i got no answer to schedule an appointment. It was well in the time frame...it kept saying mailbox full, but the recording says you cant leave a message? I have been ill not been able to work much to help my partner with bills and rent. I just had surgery on june and just need help..school starts in two weeks and cause of me not working we have gotten behind in bills and havent gotten things for school.
